It definitely helps but situations where you have the time to use it are not that common. The most impressive and effective feature is controlling your teamates runs. I love to send my striker in a long run and send a through ball above defenders.I played the demo and was mighty impressed with the use of the game pad in the game. Just wondering though that every shot i took when shaking the gamepad and touched the goal I scored...Just wondering if that could be a bit overpowered?
Help please. Anybody know why my Wara Wara Plaza no longer shows game icons? It just has Nintendo app icons and a lot of posts from Nintendo.
I checked my parental controls. Everything is still unrestricted.

This happens to me if I'm not connected to the internet. Perhaps you were disconnected and it just hasn't reloaded the plaza yet so it's still showing the original Nintendo ones.
It has been doing this for me since the second firmware update. I've given up, at least until the next update (evidently Nintendo is aware of this issue). From googling around, apparently a system reset will fix things, but who wants to do that?
A reset as in a hard power down? Or do I have to wipe the memory and such?
Weird. Thanks. Because I'm definitely connected to the net. Hopefully it reloads soon.

whoa whoa whoa do nothing go to miiverse and post like normal it reloads after a while
Ah, you're speaking of the youtube app. Don't use it - use the browser - it can play both on the pad and on the tv (while you can continue browsing on the pad) and the buffering is robust.Maybe I didn't find the option but I couldn't display the video on my gamepad.
Also the buffering could be better (some long video failed to start in a reasonable time span).
Worse. If you have your HDTV set to 1:1 pixel mapping aka full pixel mode as you should, you'll have a black border on the edge of your screen, and also you don't get the games in their proper 4:3 aspect ratio. Can anyone tell me definitively, if Virtual Console games look any better on the U?
Sorry if my opinion offends you in some way. I'm just being completely honest compared to some negative comments on here.

So no. Nintendo took a huge shit yet again on those of us who paid them to fill up our "fridge" with VC games.
What, is this a lurker penalty?
Are they planning virtual console games for the Wii U? I'd like to buy the Donkey Kong Country Games and maybe the Mario games, but I don't want to get out my wiimote for it and would rather use the gamepad. Not to mention it would be nice not to have to go into the wii interface.
My wife loves the thing to death, plus she looks fantastic from the lighting emited by the console's games, a very natural and soft glow.
+1 for love and love making. Our sex life has improved, nothing gives a bigger hard on than playing Mario on the bed while the wife climbs my mount Everest.ah love is cool.
show her this post lol
Nintendo needs to fix the VC being tethered to Wii issue - it's far and away my biggest issue with the Wii U. They're the wrong aspect ratio, they look worse, you can't use the Pro Controller.... it's a slap in the face to those of use who spent hundreds of dollars investing in a sizable VC library.

Totally worth it. So im satisfied in more than one way!

I would absolutely love it if they launched WiiU VC with the ability to transfer your Wii VC titles for free. Not holding my breath though.
Decent points. I will politely forgive most of them and simply state that you have the best NNID and Mii in the entire Miiverse and I will miss you.Thank you. They're not the best are they.
I made this point in another thread, but I don't think the "you should have known what you were getting yourself into" line covers all circumstances or all eventualities.
Before I bought my Wii U, I didn't know:
1.) That I was done with 2D Mario platformers. The most enthusiastic I can get about NSMBU is that I'm overwhelmed by indifference towards it.
2.) That I would dislike Nintendo Land more as a single player experience than I actually thought
3.) That my friends and family wouldn't like Nintendo Land anywhere near enough to ever play it again multiplayer
4.) That the image quality of Sonic All Stars Racing would be absolutely appalling
5.) That the OS would actually be as slow and irritating to use as people said it would be
6.) That The Wonderful 101 would still have no release date by January
7.) That Pikmin 3 would be pushed to Q2 2013
8.) That the Rayman Legends demo would do absolutely nothing for me
9.) That I'd end up using Off Screen Play way less to play something like COD than I do my 3DS or iPad in the same TV-less scenarios
10.) That I would lose all interest in Miiverse after a week
11.) That the disc drive would prove distractingly noisy and be a problem for my Off TV Play sessions
12.) That the GamePad range would extend no further than the front room in my house
That's 12 things I learned about after launch, or that I was expecting the opposite of to happen, that have soured my experience with the Wii U. Some of those things might sound trivial to others, but I think they're all examples of things that people couldn't have known about prior to launch week.
There is a caveat here in that I'm only selling my Wii U because I'm building a gaming PC, and am managing to sell my Wii U and games without losing a penny from what I paid for it all, which will go quite a way to helping me with the PC. If I was going to lose money or I wasn't building a PC, I might have kept the system and slogged through the launch issues and underwhelming launch games (particularly from Nintendo), but as it stands the trade value of the Wii U is worth more to me than the Wii U is. Should I have waited? Absolutely yes, but I didn't on the basis that I wouldn't encounter the above 12 issues. I bought it expecting to like it, expecting a certain level of quality from the hardware and software, and expecting to like more of the games I tried than ZombiU and a Call of Duty I already owned elsewhere. That's the sort of stuff you can't account for unless you buy the system and try it yourself.
I sent an email to Nintendo corporate earlier. Not about the Wii VC specifically, though I did touch on it. Being a NTDOY stock holder has been...difficult lately.I wish I could "Yeah" this post. And send it to Nintendo with a big fat uppercut.

Wii U VC when it comes will have nothing to do with Wii VC so I am not sure I would set myself up hoping to transfer my Wii purchases.
As long as they launch the thing with games I can play Off TV on the gamepad. That is all I need
They could be enjoying a whole resurgence in the Virtual Console revenue stream with the WiiU, by way of potential new adopters or rekindled shop visits from knowledgeable fans. Instead they've completely limited the access in the most negligent way. It's really sucky.
They could be, unfortunately they probably (rightly) figure that they'll gain more sales than they'll lose by making you rebuy them with higher internal rendering resolutions and off-TV play options. They rewrite their emulator to work directly with the Wii U hardware and voila! 1080P 4XMSAA Mario 64 and FZero GX. You and I both know that the peeps who care about this stuff WILL buy.
Just an educated guess but yeah, don't count on it. I'd say chances are pretty low, but then if it were any other manufacturer I'd say "when pigs fly" would be a more appropriate response.

Yeah, my biggest concern right now is VC. I have enjoyed everything except the fact that I still have a 512MB fridge in the Wii mode when those games should just be available in the Wii U menu.
Im hoping they address this. I know (hope) that the current system is not what it will end up being.
The more I use my WiiU, the more I love it. I cannot stop playing NSMWU, teh off screen play has me grabbing the gamepad every time i have to start rending a Maya scene.
The only things I think they need to work on are the speed at which it boots up and loads apps. I mean it does everything I want, i just have to wait about 20-30 seconds from a cold boot until the web browser is up and running. Not a big deal, but that is 10-20 seconds more than i have to wait when I grab my iPad.
I wish there was a low powered state of "always on" so i could access things like Web/MiiVerse without any wait time.
Oh well I guess Nintendo has teh next few years to work out these minor kinks.

Oh, I'm completely counting on them charging for the same games again. I've posted as much in the couple of WiiU info threads pre-launch. A lot of people seem willing to rebuy shit, as is evident in the Nintendo Downloads thread where there is always excitement at shilling out money for portable Ghosts and Goblins and Punch Out, even when people there have purchased them on the Wii. I don't get it... And don't feel like doing that.
That said, I still think they fucked themselves by narrowing access to the VC downloads at the start of this WiiU thing. Doesn't do them any favors to make it 10 or so UI steps-deep into the Wii menu, where very few people are interested, or experienced enough to travel. Let alone go back there repeatedly for entertainment and new purchases. On a second store... with a second currency... Yeah. Brilliant.
Anyways, this is the satisfaction thread. Sorry to derail. Been playing the system pretty regularly since day one and I have been surprised by the software. I was not expecting much from NintendoLand but it has really captivated me. And I 100%'ed New Super Mario Bros. U last night. Great level design, and I think it was a huge step up from NSMB2.

Judging by the 3DS, they likely will. Then again, there's a stark difference between home and handheld consoles so I'll stay cautiously optimistic.This. I would be really disappointed if they made me purchase my games again. C'mon Nintendo![]()
