I skipped Black/White and Black 2/White 2 (well, I own Black 2, but it's still in its shrink-wrap, and I have no plans on starting it), because I got tired of Pokemon games barely changing at all. Because X and Y look like the genuine generational leap we should have had years ago, I'll be jumping back in.
I sincerely hope they seriously revamp all the DV/EV high-level bullshit. My biggest problem with the Pokemon games is that to be a high-level player, it requires an obscene amount of time and patience that is unrealistic for most people. I shouldn't have to spend countless hours breeding in the hopes that I get a Pokemon with the stats/nature I want. I should be able to control those variables in some way. Similarly, looking for and killing specific Pokemon dozens of times to raise a certain stat isn't fun.
Pokemon has a really deep meta-game that most people don't even know about, as the games themselves make no attempt to introduce it. Instead you have to use stat-tracking tools online, and wade through a vast amount of bullshit that soaks up hours/days/weeks of your time to reach a point where you can be considered a competitive player.
This isn't World of Warcraft; putting a good team together should not be more about the time-investment than actual skill or strategy.
