Hideki Kamiya shits all over Kotaku

Now that I think about it. The responses are exactly what I expect from someone who made a game like Bayonetta.

Nice segue lol. Well there was nothing else you could say anyway.

I dislike the anti-PC and PC movements equally. I like adult people to be mature about the stuff they say or write.

I don't like people who try to act mature all the time. Only stuffy old farts and younglings do that. Noone is mature 100% of the time.

Just read the first few pages of this thread and must say: some of you have serious comprehension issues and don't even look into the context of those tweets.

To me, not freaking out when someone uses 'gaijin' would be mature. Pretending there are naughty words that we must never use... that's childish.

What made you think I was suggesting either?

There's a place for both. Acting stupid towards stupid people doesn't really make it any better.

So they take a tweet out of context, make an article, and then call the tweeter clueless. Take away the fact it was Kamiya who tweeted it. Now I can understand misunderstandings but to misunderstand and then slander ... Kotaku got what they deserved.

Really? That's the line youre going to take in the face of continued, relentless hack journalism from kotaku - a site that routinely displays a lack of integrity?

Kotaku should consider themselves lucky to get the response they did. They deserved far worse for their efforts.

kamiya is right, as always. but i could do without all that foreigner stuff. i think some veteran devs still need to learn to ignore internet assholes. they're not worth anyone's time. i remember when harada got called "a fat fuck" over twitter. it's embarrassing, and that's why we can't have nice things. learn to ignore, or you'll snap.

just don't link to kotaku if you want to shut them up. they thrive on your hate. sadly, gaf likes to link to them often, so it's been harder to avoid them these past years. were they not banned for a while?

Not long enough.

Honestly, I think more devs need to speak up and shame tabloid journalism when it's out of control, as well as commenters. Harada's verbal beat down on some Tekken complainers was legendary. If more devs did that, gaming, and the gaming community would be much better.

I wish SQEX had Kamiya and Harada doing PR for them online.

Harada was smacking people over the head with facts. Kamiya on the other hand...

Then again, maybe the Kotaku guys really do eat shit. I don't know.

of course. i was mainly referring to blatant one-line insults over twitter. i love reading roundabout super combo finishers as well.

I hope Kamiya keep his twitter account open, he is awesome with his fans, despite getting so much crap by some idiots and now this idiocy.

I don't think anybody is saying Kotaku has any integrity or that they weren't in the wrong. It's just that seeing a respectable developer like Kamiya resort to insults and stoop down to their level is disappointing to say the least. There are ways to handle this in a mature way.

Kamiya reads all of his Twitter fanmail, and responds to almost all of it. Trolls realized that this is an easy way to troll him (and easy trolling is the pinnacle of trolling), so they regularly send him crap. And he regularly tells them to fuck off, or types some other effortless dismissal of what they just said. That's just how he handles his Twitter. He could choose not to feed the trolls, but he doesn't.

Kotaku wrote a terrible article about him, and Kamiya responded with a simple "Ah, douchebags."

A Kotaku writer asked him if he had even read the article (because nobody who actually read the article could think the writer was a douchebag, not even the subject of the article), and he asked if they eat shit. That pretty much ended the issue nicely.

Then he said good night and (deliberately) muttered something in Japanese about baka gaijin and posted a smiley.

One of his fans said he didn't have the balls to say "fucking stupid idiot foreigners", so he (tongue in cheek) called his fan a fucking stupid idiot foreigner (singular).

I really can't see anything inappropriate in his behavior, besides some foul language, which is already a regular part of his Twitter.

No he said what kotaku does is no journalism. And he is right (can be extended to every games journalism site on the web)
Journalism is an open profession, there is no clear definition. Gaming journalism lacks investigative journalism, but it is still journalism. That it isn't the type you like, doesn't make it any less 'real journalism'. And thus the people writing for those sites are journalists.

And it's rather unfair to just say 'every games journalism site on the web' is the same. There is a clear difference in content between websites (and even within from different writers). Find the websites and journalists you trust and follow those.

Yeah...Your summary helps to make light of how trivial this whole matter really is.

Why the making excuses for him? You can't "mutter" over the internet. He plainly said in Japanese "fucking stupid idiot foreigners" which is why the other guy called him a coward because he didn't have the balls to say it in English.

Kamiya can do no wrong in my opinion.

If you cannot see anything at all inappropriate about his behavior after that summary.... I don't know what to say.

Embarrassed at the hero worship for Kamiya here. "he made some games I like and talks like a 13 year old on twitter, he's awesome!"

and, yes, he clearly tweeted gaijin in a derogatory sense. If I went "hey, you damned foreigner" in response to someone insulting me pretty sure it'd be seen as racist.

so he can't be rude to someone when he is being trolled? If people come to my house and disrespect me, I wouldn't be nice to them at all.

Pretty sure it wouldn't, as it's not racist.

Read the full conversation. Kamiya was parroting the person he was retweeting. He would have come out of this cleaner if he hadn't said "foreigner", but I don't think he was being racist in that tweet.
