Choosing a gaming Mouse

^
Avoid any mouse with "soft touch" (rubber feeling) coating, especially for the buttons. It's only a sprayed layer of rubberized paint, it will wear off after few month and the mouse will feel and look like sh*t.
Because every rubberized spray is exactly the same?

I'm a pretty big fan of the Cyborg RAT7 white version for my Mac.

Very adjustable and the horizontal scroll thingy is super handy. I use the headshot low DPI button for masking stuff in Photoshop. Thumb buttons set to Expose / Desktop Reveal.

The 3 hard profiles are set to basically Finder mode, Browse mode, and Photoshop mode.

So I got a G500 to replace my broken Naga. I'm about to go back to playing WoW so I dunno if I should stick to this or go back to a Naga..

Slightly off-topic, but does anyone here use a trackball for gaming? I recently built a comfy couch gaming pc and using the mouse is incredibly clumsy, seems like a trackball could be the solution.

love this mouse, I have the black version

My wish for a mouse is the shape of the Mamba (or Deathadder, but with easily accessible sensitivity buttons), with 3 or 4 thumb buttons. Shame my only options are 2 thumb buttons or 6-10 thumb buttons.

I did. Even after years of practice, trackball never quite worked out for action gaming. What do you mean by "clumsy"? Are you just using the mouse on a couch cushion or something?

I got the Razer DeathAdder because it was the best one in the price range I had (imo) and I am pretty satisfied with it, I've not had any issues yet, and the buttons on the side are easy to access with your thumb.

I know other mice have the same feature, but the ability to map certain keys or even macros to an instantly clickable button is such an amazing addition to an already useful tool. And it auto chooses a "profile" depending on the program/game you are using which is sweetttt. Guessing other button'd mice have the same options, so basically, get one with buttons man!

I just upgraded my G500 to a G700 for my new build and even though I was clumsy at first, I'm never going back to the G500.

I love that I have 4 buttons on my thumb, enough to add some macros or bindings and not too many that I dance clumsily trying to click one, then I have another 5 easy access buttons on my index finger and 3 which are kind of hard to use also with the index finger. And the biggest thing for me outside of its comfortable shape, is the free spinning wheel, so freaking useful!

Cons so far none for me. As long as you are willing to keep the charging cable nearby, you will not have a problem with battery.

It's only been a day so far but man this mouse makes my hand get really tired and cramp up. I think it's too big for me. I might have to get a new Naga and just deal with it if it breaks down again.

I sit in a lounge chair which doesn't give me very little room to move the mouse about. I tried putting a small table next to it but it feels rather uncomfortable due to the way the chairs' armrests are positioned.

I have Logitech MX 570 trackball for my gaming laptop - it works nicely in games where you require slow movements (like World of tanks) but it's too slow for fast fps.

I love my Razer Diamondback 3G. Good grip good precision. Had it for about 2 years I think. Other than it seemingly dying,(replugging fixes this) might be my USB ports.
3 programmable buttons and a 4th for on the fly sensitivity is all I need

So, I had a bit of an issue with my G400.

Thank you for contacting Logitech again and for the updates.

I have processed a replacement for you.

Your Logitech Optical Gaming Mouse G400 will be delivered in 7 to 10 working days.

You are not required to return the faulty unit.
The replacement will not extend the warranty of the original device

If you will need my help in the future, just let me know, I'm just an email away.

Logitech has good Customer Service, if this is the norm. Seriously, keep these sorts of things slightly in mind when choosing a mouse.

I just replaced my MX518 with a G9X last week. I have to say, I like the G9X more. Much more comfortable.

I actually really disliked this mouse to the point where I gave it away and went back to my G500. I also use a G5 at home that I slightly prefer. The scroll wheel feels better when clicking on the G5 than the G500. I bought a Razr Death Adder last fall and didn't like the scroll wheel (felt too thick, weird when trying to click) and ended up giving it to my brother as a Christmas gift.

I'm now thinking of trying out one of the Ikaris. I love my logitechs but I'd hate to be sticking with something old if there's something clearly better out there. This also means there's a chance I'll have a new gift to give somebody in a couple months if I don't end up liking it :P

The PTE sensor in the RAT's is so pathetic though. It has known issues with failures and errors. Mine failed after two years.

Sad because I have huge hands and the RAT was perfect. I'm using the corsair M60 now, and though I've gotten used to it, the mouse is very tiny.

Anyone have a suggestion for a larger mouse?

Why does it seem like all the nicer mice with adjustable weights come with too many buttons or super bloated drivers? Is it too much to ask for a simple 5 button (WIRED) mouse with adjustable weights?

Just order this now.

After doing some intensive research, this was the most comfy one for my hands and the fact there is no crazy bloatware to install. Can't wait to use this for CS:GO

Was going to get this one, but the annoying things I heard and read about the software was a no go.

I have a R.A.T 7 and I tinkit is quite nice I am a palmer and the size is quite nice I also like the thumb scroll wheel, I always put change weapon on it, THe sniper button is nice too, tho it can be tough to rememebr it sometimes, the top buttons and tracking are real nice, only downside is the teflon feet, are starting to wear after a year.

I have a Steelseries Xai now, very similar to the Sensei in design. It's the best mouse I ever owned. Also, if you haven't got one, buy a decent mouse pad. A really good mouse pad is by far the best upgrade pr. $ in my opinion.

Roccat-Kone+-Gaming-Mouse-Review-26.jpg

Been using the Roccat Kone + for a while now. Beautiful mouse, soft to the touch and so full of features. It goes up to a crazy 6,000 dpi - I usually leave it at 3200, and even then when friends use it complain of it being too sensitive. The newer versions look even better.

Yup, I adore this mouse far more than I should... Well, once I turned the dude speaking everytime I changed the DPI on it.

Love doing that on the fly between sniping and other classes in TF2.

I had a Microsoft rebranded Deathadder for years (They called it the Habu), and it was great. Only got rid of it as the left button went, but it definitely lasted. I've now got an Microsoft X5, and I'm also really happy with it.

Was thinking about the Sensei[RAW] as it's much cheaper than the standard version.
But it has 1-3 months estimated shipping time here, and slightly worse switches and materials, so I went with the normal edition.

The Steelseries Sensei ( Non-raw ) is hands down the best mouse I've ever used. I can't even use my G700 any more because it just feels like a slow, lumbering hulk in comparison. I've been through the entire Logitech series and all those fancy gamer mice but the Sensei ... Holy shit. Only thing I miss from my G700 is the scroll wheel, the Sensei is a bit of a pain to scroll with.

Thanks for the opinion. I can't wait till Monday and use it on CSGO. I'll post about it.

Got it! Got to mess with it for an hour on CSGO. I was quite surprise how nice the mouse glides, very smooth. Also, the side has this really nice rubber finish, with the side buttons having this rough matted feel. Very welcome. The side buttons was something I was very curious about. I wasn't sure how sensitive they are. Didn't want something there macro, and press by accident. Like to say those worries were put to the side, those buttons are not that sensitive at all. It actually requires the button to be fully pressed in for them to activate. The CPI button(The one under the wheel) is something that was bothering the first mins or so. I wish was able to put CPI settings on the side, instead of having it on the middle. But, it made sense why its there. I have my reload on the side button, and my quick change as well. But the most important thing is, the size. It fits so comfy in my hands :) Going to have some CSGO fun when I leave from work.

Finally! Welcome to the best mouse club.

Next, you should get an Artisan Shiden Glass mouse pad. Trust me here.

Also holy shit at that frost blue version.

Looks like a fine pad, can't seem to find it anywhere around here though :/ Will keep looking.

Does Sensei and Deathadder use the same scroll wheel? I don't really like Deathadder's wheel.

Can't really comment on that because I never used a Deathadder. But, the scroll wheel has a really nice gel feel to it, I like it :)
Whats with the software on these things? Aren't they just plug and play? Do you have to leave the program on while gaming?

If you want to use the Macros and custom profiles, yes. But if you're not into Macros like that, you're good. On Default the Mouse is fine, even the CPI button as well.

MX518 all the way. I had one that lasted thousands of hours over 5 years without problems. Even when the mouse feet wore out I just bought a roll of teflon tape and it was good until the sensor eventually went.

Right now I have a Deathadder which is about 1.5-2 years old. It's good too but I really only got it to give the higher dpi a try. Next mouse I'll get, barring any huge innovations in gaming, will be another MX518.

This. Best mouse ever made.

Silent PC carries them, I had mine shipped from Germany.

*edit* I mean Quiet PC.

That's beautiful, bookedmarked it for the next time some money hits my account. The Titan purchase is going to create a mysterious black hole.

I only see a Bordeaux-ish colour of the one you mentioned, is that the only color it comes in?

They have a white one too, which is what I have. The White has a bit more grip to it, but isn't grippy in the sense of a hard mat.

I play with low CPI (~800 in FPS, 1000 in Dota), so I like something that glides a bit as I have big mouse movements. The Shiden allows for that while still giving me precision when I need to get that exact pixel.

I bought a Cyborg R.A.T on sale as a lark because I thought it looked hilarious, and it turned out to be both comfortable and convenient. Unfortunately it has a funky scroll wheel that causes the mouse to stop working altogether if you scroll too many times, so I haven't used it in a while.
