Choosing a gaming Mouse

Logitech G500's a sweet wired mouse with minimal frills. Variable weighting and tracking sensitivity too.

This. Had this mouse for years and it's beginning to crap out on me. Not the mouse's fault though, my dog thought the cord looked tasty. I've long considered an MMO mouse for a while, like the Naga. I've heard mixed things on Razer products though. Logitech has an MMO mouse too but I haven't beard anything about it.

I have one. It works well. Bit ergonomically awkward at first, but you get use to it in a day or two. Has so many buttons and options that if you use that stuff... you can't go back.

I've configured it for explorer, the web, media player, games, productivity software (AutoCAD, photoshop, etc).

But if you don't take the time to set things up for your purposes, it's meaningless.

The thumb panel works quite well though; it's divided into two sections of 6 buttons each.

Despite the similar size, each one has an outside defining edge so to speak, so you can locate the button you need easily enough.

Just got this a couple of months ago. I just keep it plugged in and use it as a wired mouse all time time. Make sure you get the latest drivers for it, since you can set two of the buttons as Mouse4 and Mouse5, really helpful instead of having to have every extra button tied to a keystroke.

Thanks for the tip, I also recommend this mouse :)

edit: the logitec G700, it didn't show in the quote.

Yeah I have one too. Works pretty well if you set it up. It can handle so many functions. The only thing I don't like is the software is kind of shitty. There is this bug where you hit the function button and another button at the same time and it starts double clicking everything for some reason. I also can't figure out how to copy all my buttons to another color. Having 3 different sets of keys for everything is kind of nice but a bit overly complicated IMO.

Got it for GW2 but I'm enjoying it for regular use.

I'm pretty torn between my next mouse purchase to be honest.

I've used years of MX518, then G400.
However, for a little more than a year, my favorite mouse has been CM Xornet, hands down.
I have never used a better mouse for RTS games (namely SC2/Dota2), seriously.
Logitechs weren't bad, except for how heavy its clicks are and the rather clumsy feel outside of general FPS/work usage - simply not fit for RTS.

Sorry for writing so much,
but my question is this:

CM Storm Spawn, or
Sensei Raw?

I've wanted to try the Spawn for a better sensor and I feel like the Xornet would be a lot better with higher DPI/ more customization options.
I think I'm leaning towards upgrading to a Spawn, just because I know I will like it for sure.
You really can't go wrong with it.

end of discussion...?

Dude. If it's defective then exchange it. 80 euros? I wouldn't be satisfied with a defect even if it is cosmetic.

Hmm yeah I guess you are right, I might just do that tomorrow :/ Something I tested made me scratch my head though, I set the mouse to all red, all green and all blue and aslong as all colors are the same each LED is perfectly even in intensity and saturation which would mean it's a issue with how the mouse mixes the lights that suddenly appeared instead of a issue with a individual LED o.o

Once I learned my grip choosing a mouse became so much simpler. I had a G500 that was never comfortable for me because I didn't use a palm grip, I was ignorant of mouse grips and bought the mouse based on good word of mouth.

I've been using the G9x for months now and it is simply perfect for my fingertip grip.

Been using the G9x for 3 years now and it gets my vote, the fact you can change the grip and weight is a big plus, shooters and anything that requires quick moments i use the grip shown in your pic, RPG's, MMO's and strategy games i find the grey grip alot more comfortable as i can rest my whole hand on the mouse.

I just replaced my MX518 with a G9X last week. I have to say, I like the G9X more. Much more comfortable.

I've had this very mouse for 2 years, it's the worst mouse I've owned, I prefered my old optical microsoft mouse ten years ago...

Garbage build quality, can't click mouse wheel without scrolling, mouse feet wear off and scratch within a week.

Utter shit like most of logitech's crap.

The shitty shell doesn't even fit, the mouse shakes loosely in the shell. (and no it's not just my sample, I had two of them the first one's laser crapped out in the first week and I had it replaced with a new mouse in the store)

Logitech owners have no frame of reference it seems.

Razer lachesis is the best mouse I've had (claw grip though), shame they all had a design error where the middle mouse clicjk would eventually stop working, otherwise the build quality was flawless.
The cord also doesn't tangle or curl or snag on razer mice, it does on this SHITTY ass g9x

Don't say I didn't warn you OP

Saying this is a good mouse is like saying mac and cheese is wholesome good food , maybe if that's all your parents ever fed you you think it is.

I had a Razer Naga for a while, it seemed to be a nice mouse. But I didn't use half of it's features and I usually play games on my PC with my 360 pad anyways. So I ended up selling it. Recently I picked up a replacement for it. It's a dirt cheap but surprisingly nice mouse called a E-3lue Cobra-

I got it for around $15 shipped on eBay. It's from a company I had never heard of, and I thought it seemed like a chinese knock-off or something. But reviews for it are mainly positive. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and so far I like it. I think the Naga I had might have been a bit more ergonomic, but it's certainly not uncomfortable.

I also had been looking at strange pistol grip type mouse called a Zalman FG1000.

I really thought this sounded like a cool idea. I am so tempted to get one and try it out, but reviews seem to be mixed on it. Has anyone ever used one of these things before and have any impressions on it?

I'm looking to get a new mouse this year and I think I'm going to go for the Steel Series Sensei. Maybe the Fnatic one because it looks so damn sexy. Price tag is kinda steep though.

Get the Raw, much easier to stomach. Pretty much the only significant thing you miss out on is multiple firmware profiles.

I'd like to try this one out. TT Esports Level 10 M. Hat switch as one of the side buttons is intriguing.

Using it now.

Looks great, probably the best looking mouse ever. Build quality is outstanding.

The cons:

-does not fit my hand no matter what adjustments I make.
-heavy, no weight adjustment.
-side buttons are a nightmare - very easy to press by mistake.

I can only use this for light web browsing, for MS Office or gaming even a $3 dollar wired mouse from MicroCenter is better. As much as I hate to do this, since this mouse looks incredible, it is going back to Amazon.

Also, tried R.A.T 7

Looks good. Unfortunately, it produces horrible loud coil whine from my motherboard when I move it. No other mouse does this.

I exchanged it once - same thing. I guess my motherboard and the R.A.T. just don't like each other.

In the end, my MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 is still the best for me. Or an Acer wired mouse that came from and old computer at work.

FUCK IT. I'M BUMPIN'.

Looking for a budget mouse that's comfortable and durable with a decent DPI. That's all I need. <$25 preferred.

Please help. I beg you.

I have the Inferno. The wheel is fucking amazing and the mouse shape is good if you use a claw grip.

Hey guys, I'm getting a new setup soon and want a mouse to match. I have the Intellimouse right now. I am partial to it (especially since it fits nicely in my large hand), but I want a mouse made for gaming and good for heavy general browsing as well. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Notes:

- I don't mind a few extra buttons, but no space fleet control mice please.
- As I've said, I have larger hands and tiny mice are not comfortable for me to use. I suppose average size works fine.
- My budget is $70-80, but I'll take something cheaper if it matches quality of competitors in the price range.
-Also, wired, if it can be helped.
- I have a Fingertip grip

I bought Logitech G5 YEEEAAARS ago and it still performs great. I have tried G500 recently and you can't go wrong with it just like everyone said.

Never buy a laser mouse. Ever. If you play competitively you need an optical mouse like the g400 and a cloth pad like the qck or goliathus speed to play consistently.

If you do end up with a laser mouse use a hard pad

Well, I do have a Qck mousepad. I'm reading around that optical does play better with it, so I guess I need to go optical.

Hey GAF!
I need your advise about a gaming mouse purchase i want to do. I am between those 3:

G402 Hyperion Fure (55€)
Steelseries Rival (60€)
Razer Deathadder Chroma (75€)

Razer seems a bit overpriced to me but i'd buy it if it's more solid.
I've seen those Rival wears on the internet, with the rubber part having holes and that makes me hesitate on buying it. I don't want to buy a new mouse which is going to fall apart in a month or too.

G402 seems perfect to me. I like the design and i know that Logitech makes good mice which last long. The price is also better than the other two, but i am not so sure about its performance.
The only game i play competitive is CS:GO so i want a good mouse and i know that G402 has an older sensor but it also has an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

What do you say GAF? I'd love some opinions!
Thanks in advance!
