So... watching the anime (Pokemon BW, first season) and seeing insect pokemon winning battles... which insects are good on the games?

Bacteria has evolved, Bacteria has learned resistance... FUCK

PKRS should also get a detrimental counter part

I can't wait.

I like to think Psychic is supposed to fill the "Light" (as in, opposed to "Dark") role, at least Espeon gives me that impression. Remember that "Dark" in the original japanese is more like "Evil" or, more appropiately "Mean".

I would kill for a "Sound" type, but that would mean retyping a lot of existing pokémon, like the Loudred line or Audino, because it would only make sense. Über Exploud, make it happen GameFreak.

Scolipede
Volcarona
Galvantula (but only with Compoundeyes)
Accelgor
Leavanny works early game I guess
Escavalier... not sure, haven't tried it

btw the anime is shit, they turned Ash into a noob :/

Basically anything that evolves at a level higher than 10. I'm rocking Venomoth and Scolipede on my team, and they're both pretty good.

Bugs that evolve by some means other than level are usually good (see Scizor, Yanmega).

Ones that don't evolve are iffy. On the one hand, you have crap like Volbeat; on the other, you have Heracross.

I like the idea of the virtual type but it'd mean making Porygon less special and that makes me sad.

I actually really like the ancient Idea. I want to see more creatures inspired off of mythology. Like Shintoism or Ancient Egyptian. Having It counter Dragons would be awesome.

Also I like Radiactive counter steel thats a good though. ;)

Not bad at all son, I am proud.

What kind of "Special"

Thx guys :3

I've always thought that having two different types for Ground and Rock was a bit dumb honestly :) but I've always thought it was based on some obscure japanese diferentiation

Love type from magical vacation could be used as the counter to Dark

Resistance: Fire/Ghost

Weakness: Psychic/Poison/Rock

Effectiveness: Fighting/Dark/Ice

Oh right.

Poison isn't SE against Water because water washes away pollutants. It is the ultimate cleanser. If anything Poison should be SE against Water :P

Steel only conducts electricity but not necessarily be totally electrified by it.

Psychic already damages Fighting. But it needs more SE. Dragon doesn't make sense. And why would Fire resist Dragon?

Flying is already in trouble as it is so it doesn't need any more types that resist it. It's already weak to Ice.

Fighting is SE to any "hardness" types (Rock/Ice/Steel) because... hey, fighting. Ground doesn't work on Flying because it's grounded, but Rock does because it can be sling. You can't sling soil but you can with rocks.

Grass :P

It doesn't have to make sense. Hell types like Dragon and Normal (a really inappropriate term when talking about fighting monsters) don't make sense at all. Steel doesn't rust, why is it NVE against Water?

Anyway, Fire types need another resistance to make them more viable. Dragon is overpowered and Psychic is underpowered, it needs another resistance or at least something it's SE against.

Splitting Ground and Rock just to settle the whole Flying pokemon debate seems weird. When we were kids no one understood the difference.

Why isn't steel ground or rock by that logic?

Different properties I think, glass would be weak against almost everything like glass je in punch out while being effectivw against nothing that I can think, if glass would be used as some kind of cutting thing there already are various attakcs like that :C

Glass is sand heated technically so it would be considered ground.

the same could be said for ice and water, it hasn't stopped them before :P

A glass type would be cool actually, although yeah it would be pretty similar to ice. I want a synthetic (ie plastic) type!

I kinda got Ground/Rock before, since you have types like Sandshrew who are obviously not stone-related but dig stuff, as well as Diglett.

Dragon is the "most elusive" but the dual typing tend to cripple them. Normal is the most well-rounded and more flexible of the types. Jack of all stats and what-not. Steel doesn't rust but doesn't it corrode? Hence Water being neutral to Steel. Steel is more of a defensive type than an offensive, hence it doing only SE to the weaker "armor" types.

Fire can resist Dark and Fighting (how does one deal malicious thoughts on fires/punching fires?), and Psychic can be SE to... hm... I can't think of any :P

Ground should lose its super-effectiveness on Fire. It already has no resistance to Fire.

*avatar quote*

Try putting soil on a raging fire :P

Poison should be SE against Water, Fighting, and Normal.

Definitely should be super effective against fighting but I still don't think water makes sense because dilution.

Weak against flying?

Yeah that makes sense.

Also probably weak against ice.

You would think that flying into water heated to the extremes would fuck some birds up. :p

I was thinking that birds can blow away steam with gust etc.

Like I said, if anything Water should be SE to Poison :P
Fighting I agree.
Normal? Nah, Normal needs to be totally indifferent.

Normal only has 1 weakness. It'd a good way to buff Poison without throwing anything else under the bus.

How should water be SE to poison? Pollution destroys the ocean.

Well, I think I see the difference between G+R - Ground Pokemon are more creatures of the earth - moles, sandshrews, hippos, golems, Claydol. Rock Pokemon seem like they have a mostly artificial nature, being either made of rock (Onix, Lunatone), 'coming from' rock (all fossil Pokemon), or integrating rock into their bodies (Corsola, Dwebble).

As an aside, this is just a guess:
Special types seem to describe the elemental properties of a Pokemon, while Physical types seemed to describe the nature of a Pokemon.

Physical:
Normal, Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock, Bug, Ghost

Special:
Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Dragon

This could probably be used to understand what sort of forms the remaining unused types could take.

Muhahahaha!! I have started the new type talk again!

Honestly though, all I want is god damn Evolutions for Skarmory, Tropius and Aerodactyl
won't happen
, and by Evolutions, I mean competent Evolutions. Nothing like Tangrowth or LickiLicki, something more on the lines of Mammoswine.
Easily one of my favourite deigns ever.
