Who are the most eloquent, articulate posters on GAF?

Also, how well would the opposite of this thread go over?

I worry that the opposite of this kind of thread would violate one of the general GAF regulations: don't be an outright asshole to fellow GAF members. It might be inviting people to give in to negative emotion if actually asked to list everyone they don't like or think posts badly.

I'd guess that some think threads such as this are just circle jerks. But I'm not sure how to balance it with the opposite without asking for trouble.

Some of them can also come off as extremely condescending, but eloquent nonetheless.

Honestly it can be kind of difficult to avoid coming across as condescending on the internet if you're trying to write in a confident, direct tone. That's been my experience.

If something I write seems condescending, then all due apologies - aside from internet tonal problems, I'll be the first to say frustration with trying to get to the heart of a topic plays into it at times.

Some people take pride in being worst posters, so much so that it makes them best, like blame space. So bad it's good.

Mumei, empty vessel (along with much of Poli-GAF) and Dreams-Visions come up on first thoughts...but honestly, much of GAF is very well-spoken/written most of the time.

Derrick91, or whatever the guy with the Dues Ex avatar.
Why? Because he's always arguing about anything and hates almost every game on the planet.

You mean that if someone asks me why a game is terrible that I can provide a detailed and harsh explanation why?

Hmm...I'll take it!

Oh, not you. I've never seen you post anything that seemed remotely condescending.

Mama Robotnik has my vote. I love his/her threads in the gaming side. The research is always thorough and the first posts are well structured. Surely one of NeoGAF's most valued (and valuable!) members.

SteveYoungBlood is the only one that really deserves the kudos, imo. I feel his moderate posts often get ignored for not being grandstanding, assholish or extremist like some of the other people you might nominate.

Some people who get nominated in these kind of threads probably get paranoid to put on their best behavior for every post they do. Delete loads of not-Oscar worthy posts.

I don't envy them.

Stumpy and charlequin have always made amazingly insightful posts. I love reading debates where they're involved.

Meh, I feel like most of them can't help it - they probably can't type in any other way.

Personally, my posting style is a stream of consciousness, so I'm rarely eloquent.

The people nominated in this thread are far more... shall we say measured? For example, Mumei usually waits for multiple posts until he types up a response, IIRC.

And Opiate does what he does.

Though I fundementally disagree with his worldview, I think OttomanScribe expresses himself well.

Plus most of the others already mentioned.

Funnily enough I was honestly coming in here to post your name. I promise it isn't a follow back thing.

So yeah, Sutton Dagger. Also a fan of Meus, SmokyDave and Zaptruder... also Stump and ThoseDeafMutes amongst many others.

Smokeydave is surprisingly eloquent. His posts often come across as uncouth and a bit 'loud' but you can tell there is thinking and structure behind it. I bet he's dead posh :p

Certainly, I imagine him with a monocle and a pith helmet, sipping gin in a private club.

Yes, that fact that you can **** on any game and provide an explanation why makes your posts fun to read.

At least I think so.

Did I really just see derrick01 mentioned in a thread about eloquent posting? I must have the wrong tab open...

I don't like to name names because I'd definitely forget someone, and I mean that. GAF has so many well-spoken, insightful posters who have challenged my thinking and expanded my knowledge. I come here for the entertainment and stay for the conversation.

Recently? Steve Youngblood is a well spoken young gentleman than I would defo let be my spokesman in everything. (Even if I dont agree with him about 50% of the time)

All time and from lurking? Segata Sanshiro had a great way of making his sentences stand out and come alive. (When he wasnt being a mean spirited dream crusher)

Dice, without a shadow of doubt. His posts are good for my English. Some of them in particular are a major part of why I got fond of K-Pop.

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth to give praise of being "articulate" to someone who does it purposely in a condescending manner, lecturing people on subjects using nothing but the most basic of information in order to give third party observers the impression that the person isn't already informed on the subject matter, even though the person never said anything to indicate lack of knowledge, but only simply disagreed with the person who is currently getting praise for being "articulate."

Monocle. Search database errored out when I went searching for a few sample posts, but he often elevates discussion in threads by saying what would like to say, if only I were half as articulate and able to organize my thoughts as clearly as he.

I am not here to voice my disappointment. My ego is too great for that.
No.
I am here instead to nominate a man who's expressive modality is completely zen-like, with a verbal lexicon that is almost poetic in it's simplicity. You know of who I speak. Yes. Oh yes.

blame space.
blame space.
blame. space.

He's a pretty humble guy too... I like his posts.

The whole post smacks of effort, man.
