Brad has never played DMC3? DMC3, Dante Must Die for Breaking Brad! ...But that would probably make him hate the game, and I really wouldn't want that, lol

Breaking Brads need to have some possibility of success to be interesting, and not take forever.

DMC3 DMD difficulty was so much more difficult and punishing than Bayonetta NSIC difficulty was. You really need to love DMC3, have plenty of free time, and be pretty damn good at it to beat DMD, so I've never got past mission 3.

He reached Diamond level in Starcraft II ladder. He can be good at games that he actually cares about.
Low Diamond in the early days of SC2 was fairly achievable without knowing much about the game. He's said on the podcast that he wanted to get past the point where he needed to use build orders, which is the point where it actually becomes a deep, strategic game, rather than two guys making a bunch of units trying to replicate the thing they saw on the Korean stream last night.

None of them really seem to enjoy getting deep into games mechanics. That's not a slight, they just enjoy games for different reasons.

My guess is fanboys gonna freak out because dat emo dante shit.

Either way da fuck is up with that reaction?

DMC as we know it could be dead. I think it's likely since people who get in deep with the combat system are a very small population so sacrificing them for more sales is no biggie, but I am being very pessimistic.

Thankfully we still have Platinum Games. So stoked for Rising.

Amazon are dicks and don't deliver to Australia. :(

Can't really get any games this month. Bought too many other stuff.

I do want to catch up to 3 and 4 though. Like brad I've only ever played 1.

DMC HD is on PSN and Xbox Live, and even if it's more expensive I recommend it over the disc version which is by far the loudest PS3 game I have played. The constant disc access noises really start to grate after a while.

I prefer the PS3 version since if you never play DMC 2 (and you shouldn't) it won't appear on your Trophy list, and each game has a full set of Trohpies and it's own Platinum. The Platinums are extremely hard to get, but it's better than the 360 version sharing 1,000 Points and 99 Achievements across the three games. I realize some of you don't give a shit about that stuff, but I mention it for those who do.

Me too. I don't expect a Bayonetta-level masterpiece, but it could be better in some ways and I really hope it has enough depth to justify a full-price purchase. Otherwise I don't know what new game I'll be playing for the first three months of this year.

Revengance will be my "character action" game to get.

They GOTY was not XCom?

I don't really think that's a good example considering xcom isn't all that deep for a game in its genre. There are very few classes and abilities which doesn't offer much depth on how you approach a scenario.

I mean, don't get me wrong, xcom was in my personal top 10 list last year but I don't really find it "deep". The game doesn't offer many options to toy around with.

Actually I found the GB quicklook and Ryan playing it during the goty really weird. I hadn't played the game at the time and the way they made it sound it was this really hardcore game where one mistake could screw you over and you always had to think out each situation so you didn't fuck up. I went into the game with that mindset but found the normal difficulty to be very, very easy. Been doing a classic playthrough since then and I kinda feel like it should have been the "normal" difficulty.

Yeah I've spent a fair amount last month as well for Christmas so I'm dialing back purchases. Revengeance is the only thing for me for the first quarter.

Normal is easy as hell.

Getting worked up over a Giant Bomb review score is pretty dumb. I feel like the only reason I frequent GiantBomb is because they provide lengthy and indepth discussions about games and the industry through podcasts and video features. Quick Looks have had a significant impact on the games I buy, reviews are so trivial when Quick Looks exist.

Thing is their reviews are generally fairly well-written and they articulate their thoughts well. Especially if it's a brad or Alex review.

If only they would get rid of the scoring system like rock, paper shotgun. Would cause a lot less bitching probably.

Are you still looking for them here? There's a lot more in the review's comments.

Why look there? Those are always full of it. It's too easy. There's something magical about DMC that manages to take certain posters on GAF, certain logical/rational human beings and turn them into the snootiest passive aggressive types I've ever seen. I have to wonder what 2K Marin's Xcom reboot would have done if it came to fruition. I don't even think Syndicate reboot got as much rage. It didn't have a mocking OT, at least.

Yeah pretty much, I wish I would had just started on classic. I enjoyed normal but it really was a pretty big joke. But more to the point I was just expecting something crazy based on how the GB crew reacted to the game which is why I don't think it was a very good example for a point of the guys enjoying "super deep mechanics" or whatever because xcom certainly doesn't fit that bill.

Not really shocked at the score. There are some good videos and gifs of the game that shows off how fucking cool the combat can be (and really, that's the point of DMC) and there's been quite a lot of people digging the game before the embargo broke.

Other reviewers are singing high praise as well. Surprise! A studio with a track record of good games put out a good game!

Yeah, those snooty passive aggressive types are the worst. But I still think you're better off in the review comments...

History Revisionism or personal opinions?

I am relatively new to giantbomb, but I have seen some Patrick hate in some places like in this picture. Any particular reason for that?

For me personally I wasn't a huge fan of Patrick specifically on the podcast and in Quick Looks when he first started, but I think he totally fits in nowadays although maybe a little indie-centered for my tastes at times. I guess a lot of it is just duders who still haven't adapted to the change.

I like the fact that Patrick is still gets some hate even after being at GB so long.

I like Scoops by the way, but I found that amusing.

Well, at least he put his money where his mouth is. 99% of the time someone throws an internet tantrum and claims they're leaving FOREVER, they don't.

He's just canceling his autorenew. If he actually gives a damn about the premium stuff he'll renew before his current subscription runs out.

I imagine Brad is boiling mad at the internet right now. Hopefully he doesn't blow a gasket.
