Christian Svensson suggests we tweet Marvel for a Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 update

And let us not forget the big green guy.

You win.

I've often wondered why Marvel just doesn't have an open deal with Capcom to do a annual fighter update depicting that year's major Marvel event(s). Sell the base game an have DLC updates.

Can't they just do Marvel vs Capcom 4?

Wouldn't that be better

Get a whole new roster going?

I enjoyed MvsC3, never got to play Ultimate (thought it was a Cash Grab)

I was so hyped for the original MvC3 and then I discovered (after giving Capcom my money) that the netcode was crappy and there was no spectator mode. Instead of trying to fix the original, Capcom wanted me to re-buy the game (in its Ultimate format) so I didnt, and havent bought a Capcom game since. Well, I did buy Dead Rising 2 TBH. But I got it cheap.
If the netcode was Soul Calibur quality with some new badass male characters like Omega Red, Juggernaut and Sabretooth with sexy females like Cammy (without her SSF4 pancake ass) and Psylocke (in a thong), I would probably buy it, even though I dont really trust Capcom anymore.

This is most likely what they're doing, and what makes the most sense financially IMO. I don't think another update for MvC3 beyond a balance patch is financially viable.

The thing is, Marvel is here to stay, it's clearly the most popular fighting game in the US ATM and it's appeal is only broadening more and more internationally. And it's been heavily rumoured to appear later on in IPL's eSports League as well. So it's kind of hard not to feel left out when Capcom is instead mulling a 4th large update to SFIV when MvC3 has only gotten one.

And if they do an MvC4, it's going to be a LONG way out. We're talking probably 4 years at the very least. A simple balance patch to eliminate a ton of the glitches + tweaks to TAC mechanics would help considerably and isn't too much to ask either.

I don't work for Capcom and refuse to lobby one of its business partners to work with them.

This whole idea that the public needs to beg for reasons to spend our freetime and disposable income is ridiculous. If the company releases a product I want I will buy it, if they don't I will spend my time and money elsewhere.

If they want to know what people would like from Capcom, just read the forums to see what people are talking about or sign up and ask specific questions so we can answer.

But this whole idea of testing the public and encouraging people to spam the twitter feeds of another company who owns an IP you want to use needs to stop because its unprofessional.

Man, I don't care if it's dumb or hopeless.

It just makes me feel better even if there's the lie of a sliver of hope for an update of some kind.

I assume that X-Men deal with Fox left Marvel really adverse to long term contracts.

The attitude of Fox is one of the reasons and then the deal with ACTI as well left a bad taste as well.

Fox has stated they will release crap movies just to keep the namesake of characters. And then when they quit DD, Marvel offered to extend the contract if they would release Galactus or Doom for Marvel to use but then Fox replied why don't you fund DD and we keep all the rights?

So, yeah long term contracts left a sour taste in there mouth.

Ùnprofessional? It's more like getting transparent focus group to see what the size of the audience would be. The exec producer of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed told the community to set up a poll and choose characters for him to present to sega. Just recently he responded to the results and it's "Very Likely" to happen because of that fan feedback. It's actual tangible data which is handy for the PR department and gives people a say in development.

It's a transparent era and it's consumer feedback. I doubt Agent M or Chris Baker is pissed because they now can record that feedback and say "Hey, we could do more Marvel and people will buy it. Give Capcom a yodel on a wireless there!".

If anything, it's better that this is out in the open instead of ignorant focus groups giving results like Bionic Commando 09 (And Bad Spencer) and FUSE.

Marvel IP does not belong to Capcom so its not the same as the example you mentioned.

As I mentioned in that post if they want to ask people what they want from Capcom owned IP in public thats fine. We shouldn't beg but can freely give our opinions. If they ask us about whether or not Capcom should approach another company about a new collaboration then sure we can tell them what we think.

But I believe we should draw the line at companies asking people to effectively lobby another business to sign a contract when they may not wish to do so.

The license holders at Marvel, but also Tatsunoko and SNK are perfectly capable of making these decisions by themselves. They are also able to ask the public about whether or not from their side of things they would like to see them both work together again. But I wouldn't pester Capcom staff if any of them asked me too.

However if people are fine with this sort of thing then great, live and let live but its not for me and I don't like seeing this sort of thing going on in the industry.

We have powerful friends, Karsticles
Goddamn, Tieri on board? I had heard rumors that he was bitter because he wrote a big story for MvC3 and Capcom cut it. I remember when Marvel fans were all excited that he was on board the first time. Maybe he just loves writing the one-liners? Or maybe he plays... :-O

My tweets involved stuff like "I still love the game which has a huge fanbase and wants more content which I will certainly buy given the opportunity". Figure money talks, especially to higher-ups which these guys are our middlemen for.

Mh, does marvel have anything else going for it right now in gaming? I'd love to see a new Marvel Super Heroes by Capcom, then they can reuse those characters and pull out another Marvel 2 situation lmao.

I was gonna get Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 but was afraid to buy it cause a third version could come out anytime....that was like a year ago .__.

MVC4 would be best suited on a new engine, and probably just waiting for the new consoles. Until then, just updating/balance patch and redoing H&H would be fine for us. It would take minimal effort, and the rest of the effort would be saved for the eventual sequel on the more powerful next gen platforms.

Looking at the mvc3 beta version, the final version was definitely missing a bunch of effects that would've looked nice, although unfinished. Did they change it due to system constraints? Like they changed some of the model textures to be much uglier?

For what it's worth, I had heard the opposite. Tieri mostly couldn't be bothered to really write the story and was blatantly using Wikipedia for characters he didn't know. This is why a lot win quotes are basically just "Let me mention a place and villain from my game!!!"

It worked out that Capcom was sort of rushing it to release before the end of the fiscal year, so the touted story never really came to be. There's even quotes from the reveal playing it up and it eventually became nothing.
