This Te'o story makes ND performance vs Bama much more explainable. Their emotional leader completely distracted and flat. Huge blow

Of course it does, Danny, of course it does. Now, I bet you feel better now, knowing that all the ND ass kissing before the game, was voided by this mess.

This is the comedy scandal college football needed after the Penn State thing.

This seriously feels like the plot to some dumb college comedy.

In a perfect world Notre Dames athletic department will be shamed out of existence. I really hope Brian Kelly knew about this shit. I hope they were all part of this epic cover up that was nothing more than to get Te'o publicity

I'm just not that cynical. If that's not true then it must be teo lying IMO. Not buying a vast coverup, but stranger things have certainly happened.
Same. What does ND have to gain, really, when you consider the shitstorm if it's a cover up/lie, especially post-PSU.

Guys there are people in my newsfeed seriously and strongly denying that Te'o had anything to do with this.

What's it like tying your entire existence to a college football team?

Am I understanding something wrong or missing something?

Is this story basically just some guy falling for a fake online gf and being told that she dies and then that part goes public (football player's gf dies)..And now everyone knows she was just an "online gf" he never met...

So it's believable (people send money to foreign "models" all the time or get scammed by Nigerian princes), but still pathetic...Is there something else I'm missing here?

Yeah esp with teo out of the program now. I would think most PR would sell him out in seconds, or at least keep it vague enough to allow them to do so later. I believe ND believes him, at least.

You're missing the part where the football player has said that he's talked to the girl on the phone, is close to her family, met her at a football game, spent time with her in Hawaii, etc.

That he lied his fucking ass off and used it for sympathy/exposure.

that's the story he's sticking to yes, the sad truth is he made her up.

Oh, man..this story is easily becoming the craziest thing ever.

Honestly, I figured he was clearly in on it, or his bro played a prank on him and didn't realize how to get out of it. But the Arizona Cardinals thing just makes this even crazier..

Right I see what he had to gain- not ND tho

They knew about it before the MNC game, which means they were hiding it in order to have a better chance at winning the game.

So now they're trying to cover their asses, since if Te'o was taken in by a hoax and they didn't tell people about it before the game, it seems at least somewhat reasonable, whereas if Te'o was lying to everybody and they hid it to win a game, it looks pretty shady.

This happens on Internet forums all the time. Didn't think these things would ever leak into real life!

someone brought up the story of JBaird earlier :lol

Bomani Jones on the subject
Watching now, he's besides himself on this. Goes into the changing dates/time of when the girl died :lol

The Solid Verbal
The 2 hosts consist of an Oregon fan and a ND fan. Nice day to make a podcast with those 2 :lol

I was surprised when I first started seeing memes in real life, but I have never ever thought I'll live to witness someone's real life alt account get exposed.
We live in crazy ass future times.

Well...Let's be honest here...

Okay, so say you're a star athlete and form a relationship online with someone you believe to be a real person and she becomes your gf...Still just an online gf...Why he felt he had to go this route no one can understand.

But that story is embarassing to tell...And considering the naive nature of forming such a relationship with no real proof of anything, you cover up it up by saying, "Oh yeah, we've met."

Now when the shit hits the fan and you're told she's dead, but it comes out that she wasn't real you are left with...

A: Not being a part of a "hoax" because that suggests greater manipulation that simple lying. His lying was to cover up having "an online gf", not to gain sympathy after he was told she she died.

B: Having to acknowledge you did lie to cover up the fact you had "an online gf." This is embarassing but believable given why you were lying in the first place...So it was basically just one lie which was saying he met her...He never did..The rest of it, he was just a gullible chump.
