people going to the gate crash pre-release what guilds are you choosing?
I'll probably be working at our comic book store's event, but if I got to play it'd be Gruul baby. I might try to pick up a Gruul prerelease pack anyway.

Would Realmwright trump Blood Moon?

It's a timestamp issue. Basically, whichever came down last would trump the other.Would Realmwright trump Blood Moon?
I'm going Dimir, but, I'm also considering ordering a kit of Orzhov...Boros seems to have the best cards though.
Edit: @jetblackpanda The "extra pack" is the guild specific pack, which is in each guilds' kit.
From wizards.com
"For the Gatecrash Prerelease, you'll choose from five Guild Prerelease Packs. The options (while supplies last) are Orzhov, Dimir, Gruul, Boros, and Simic. Each Guild Prerelease Pack contains five Gatecrash booster packs, a guild-specific booster pack, a special alternate-art prerelease card unique to each guild, an achievement card, a Spindown life counter, a guild symbol sticker, and a letter from the guild's leader."
Blue seems like the wrong color for Realmwright.
Realmwright says "in addition to"
I think it'd be an issue of timestamps since they'd both be continuous effects. So if Blood Moon came in first, nonbasics are all mountains and then Realmwright turns them in to Mountain *Chosen Types*.
If it is the other way, Realmwright turns everything into the chosen type + original type and then Blood Moon overwrites it on the nonbasics into just Mountain.
*not a judge*
Oops, looked up the article on layers. My brain!
I decided on Boros for Gatecrash back when Avacyn was new. Red-White's probably my favorite color pair.

Spreading Seas, Grixis Illusionist, Lingering Mirage, Sea's Claim, etc.
There was also one that did it in Lorwyn, just 5 sets beforeMono blue hasn't been able to change lands into non-islands since, what, Invasion?
EDIT: Right, grixis illusionist. Still feels like a green mechanic.
It's an ability that both green and blue seem to share. Green's just better at it. See: Prismatic Omen, Joiner Adept, Abundant Growth, etc.Blue can change lands, but mana-fixing like this is usually green. I'm just glad that its stapled to a 1/1.
What's the deal with the 1 hybrid mana creatures for each guild? Were they gonna finish that cycle in Gatecrash? They already have boros elite and experiment 1 as the 1 drops for boros and simic but they're not hybrid.
Even if they do continue it, I'm having a tough time imagining what orzhovs would be. A 1/2 with extort? Seems sorta boring (although boring sorta fits with how this set is going so far :| ).
The lack of consistency between RTR and Gatecrash is maddening. Especially when everything their doing in GC is so much less interesting then what RTR laid down.

my only hope is that dragon's maze will have all the missing cycles

For real. I loved the 1 drop hybrids. Dryad Militant is going to be awesome when people start figuring it out, dammit.
Sure, they're the prize at the center of Niv's labyrinth.
Who on earth complained about that?!?!?They aren't doing the can't be countered cycle either and all those cards are at the very least playable. Doesn't seem to be anything like that here.
People complained about all the playable rares in RTR, this is like the opposite lol
Until recently, I didn't realize how much ego/personality played in set design/development.The lack of consistency between RTR and Gatecrash is maddening. Especially when everything they're doing in GC is so much less interesting then what RTR laid down.

That's not a complaint about the playable rares though. The mass tonnage of playable rare/mythics in RTR cratered the price of the playable cards in the set over time. (A good thing.)People in this thread complained everything cost too much.
And the RTR charms ended up better.....It's funny that the Gatecrash team was able to force the Charm cycle into Return to Ravnica, but the reverse didn't happen with the uncounterable cycle...

Blowing up Delver decks in all formats was definitely a huge net positive.Yeah, the hybrid uncommon cycle was kinda cool, but I don't really miss it that much.
The uncounterable cycle was pretty sweet though. Aside from Abrupt Decay, which was probably a little too strong, I think they did good things for the game.
Oddly, DRS? Not part of that cycle. (Also, I don't think he was healthy for the game, but his was a tuning error on the B ability.)

Sweet limited beater.
Look at what he did to Modern/Legacy straight away?Yeah, I know he wasn't part of the uncommon cycle but Cackler and Militant are strong as well. Does GTC even have a rare cycle of hybrid creatures?
Why would you say he's not healthy for the game exactly? I mean I kind of agree that the black ability kind of pushes it over the top, being a swiss army knife BoP/Grim Lavamancer limited to the dome/2-life is ridiculously good but I don't think it's as bad as Delver or Geist were.
I believe we get the entire set spoiler on Monday?

Every deck that can run him does run him.
And w/e- Boros do NOT need more constructed level cards.

This guy feels like he was initially meant to have evolve.
Oh, you definitely need to play him in Modern to see it. He's nightmarish because he sped up Jund by an entire turn (and turned it into a Legacy-caliber deck.) Every non-affinity aggro/midrange deck was essentially pushed out of the format. They only show up now in large #s at the PTQ level since Jund is unaffordable for most.I don't know what to say man, I agree he's exceptionally good but I don't think he qualifies as broken, especially with the shenanigans that happen in Legacy. I don't play Modern and don't pay attention to it much, but Jund was already super popular to begin with.

(I expect a DRS ban in the format.)
I wonder if they will start unbanning some control cards with the GTC update.
