The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

I find it funny that Patrick was upset that the writers didn't put the period inside the quotes, which is actually correct in, say, the UK. In cases like this, it's all about being consistent with it.

Yet, on the other hand, he missed the dozens of other punctuation errors, like not splitting off who a sentence refers to.

Example: "How's it going man?" should be "How's it going, man?"

DmC looks great. It looks better then most of the games in its genre of the last years imo.

It might not be the same when you get deeper into the mechanics but as someone who isn't that invested into the series and just enjoyed some DMC games. It still looks like a DMC game imo.

This isn't anywhere near as bad or as far removed from previous installments as the new Tomb Raider game imo. Especially considering it's being developed by someone else.

It's closer to previous dmc games then RE6 is to RE4. This is closer then Diablo 3 was to Diablo 2.

To me anyways.

And SkyGoblin is a European developer so of course they are going to be using British punctuation. Don't quit your day job, "Scoops".

Brad is so wrong about the style system. It's broken as hell. At least if they did not do any changes compared to the demo.

Howso? I know nothing about DMC.

Also it is not time related. So you can keep you can take your time fighting the enemies. In the demo it made it really easy to get SSS rankings. The overall time you take for the level seems to be a none factor so you get the SSS ranking at the end of it even if you take 2 hours.

That's what it has been in the demo and so fat I have not seen or heard anything about that being changed.

For DmC, I liked this quote from Patrick Klepek during the quick look:

That quote is great to understand why there might be a disconnect between hardcore fans of a franchise and reviews for any niche franchise's sequels. And honestly, there are fan sites that do specific reviews for that kind of player, like for the Hitman or Splinter Cell games.

If you're that hardcore DMC fan, maybe give Bayonetta 2 money instead if this insults you.

This is pretty much where I stand with this series, and DmC is impressing the hell out of me so far only a few hours in. After I finish this, I'm considering picking up the HD collection and giving the old games another go. Congrats Capcom for making the choice to give Ninja Theory a shot at this. Just my worthless opinion, but DmC turned out much better than I expected.

Yes, actually looking at the past 10 quick looks Patrick has been on 8/10 of them. I'm not one of the people who has some irrational hatred for him but it is still a bit much.

No wonder I've skipped 8 of the last 10 quicklooks! Boom.

But seriously, I've skipped a ton lately...

Journey down looks alright. I really agree with the monkey island sentiment. What the heck was up with the random audio quality and output levels of those npcs?!

Warframe looks pretty boring.
I need to play Gunz again. What a sweet game. Gotta go climb that clocktower with my knife and brag to every new player that can't do it.

It's the same. Demon dodge is absurdly overpowered style-gain wise.

You can still power your way to SSS with style and completion being up with low time, but time will be needed to actually top the leaderboard. If it's just the best rank you're after, then yeah DmC really dropped it there.

Not gonna lie, this DmC game looks alright. I only ever saw the initial reveal trailer and said "NO THANKS," but this looks okay. I'll wait for a Steam sale on it, but I'll give it a go some time.

Cart Life bought. Already two games i've bought based on QL's this year. If you told me last year i'd be driving trucks across Europe and managing a food cart i'd have called you crazy.

I couldn't finish watching it. It was too stressful seeing them screw up this fictional woman's life. Now that's empathy crafted in a small scale story.

From how this game was described on Idle Thumbs they seemed much better at it, they didn't mention headaches or forgetting about their daughter

To be fair, the game is extremely frustrating the first time you play it. I had listened to Idle Thumbs talk about the game before trying it, and I was still fucking up left and right.

Vinny should do an endurance run as vinny... I would subscribe to GB for that content. I think that quick look did the game no favors. Anyway i'm trying it now, and I plan on being a better mother than patrick ever will be.

Watching Patrick and Brad ruin that woman's life is super stressful.

To be fair, that's kind of how Cart Life is. There's a LOT that the game doesn't tell you, meaning that it's difficult to play through the game on your first try without, at some point, feeling like you've screwed up your poor character's life. While playing, you'll discover something that would have helped you greatly an hour ago, then you'll feel like you should restart with your newfound knowledge, since you're gonna feel like you'll never meet the goal in your current play-through.

For example, as Andrus, I quickly discovered that the clock is ALWAYS ticking, even in the menu, so when I restarted, I opted to skip the tutorial so that I could get some necessary supplies (Including a digital watch, since Andrus doesn't start with one) from the big-box store on the first day.

That's intentional though. A lof of that stuff was clearly meant to go wrong the first time.

Oh, I don't mean to say they did any worse than I would have or anything. When I say it was stress-inducing, I mean it as a high compliment to that game for getting that kind of response from me with stakes so mundane and personal. It does that on a level that no big budget game ever has. I don't think I've ever gotten physically uncomfortable watching someone play a video game before, but midway through the Cart Life quick look as everything was falling apart I was pretty close to closing the tab, not out of boredom or anything, but because it was stressful to watch. Video games are cool.
Hey guys what are the funniest quick looks? I need something to cheer me up!
Story Hour Adventures, Train Simulator 2012: Trains vs. Zombies, Euro Truck Simulator 2013, any Wipeout Quick Look (not the racing game).
