Alright, change up the proportions, then add arms, and then it's correct. Right now, it's pretty creepy. I always thought it was a weird looking Pokemon.

Oh man that Pokemon <-> Digimon thing is awesome. Always loved both. Always thought Digimon made a much better job at making "cool" designs, even if they were more often overdesigned.

Regarding legendaries, a lot of them just are too boring. Latios and Latias, for example. The Regi trio is way too simple (the legendary birds were simple but they worked). The Lake trio was the laziest thing since Muk. The musketeers looked awful other than the green one and the steel one a bit.

And they keep pulling weird legendaries when there's a lot of stuff that should be obvious they haven't done yet. How come the only Bug legendary is a revived mutant fossil rather than some sort of giant Bug queen?

TAM, how can you not love a killer terminator bug? TBH they kind of already did the bug queen thing with Vespiqueen (but I know, I know you want a legendary one right?).

Genesect isn't bad, I guess, but not definitely what you'd imagine when talking about a legendary bug... I felt he was kind of underwhelming compared to Deoxys or Arceus.

And Vespiquen doesn't really count. I mean, a Spider Queen or an Ant Queen (we only have one ant pokémon as far as i know) as some sort of "mother of all Bug types" seems like such an obvious trope when coming up with monsters I'm surprised we still haven't seen it.

Same with a Pokémon based on a demon. A Mewtwo-like superlegendary or even just a normal evolutionary thingie. Houndoom could kind of count I guess if you believe a hellhound counts but I really don't. Some sort of badass Dark/Flying demon or something.

Also what the hell, with all the terrible evolutions from pokémon of previous gens how come Houndoom still doesn't evolve into something like Cerberus?

I absolutely love that Kyogre one, I love seeing water pokemon being depicted as creatures of the mer.

That's exactly why I feel Kyogre looks the scariest out of the bunch. gtfo deep underwater monsters you ain't needed here.

And I'm getting a Sheegoth-feel from Kyurem.

I hadn't heard of the Titanboa snake before...that's amazing! Now I desperately want there to be a Titanboa snake in Gen VI. He could be one of the fossil Pokemon!

So awesome. I love snakes.

Oh, and it's good to see Cobalion getting the hate it deserves. I don't mind Terakkion and Virizion, but Cobalion is just all kinds of wrong looking.

Dat Groundon is a beast. And that Kyogre looks like a real killer whale. Kyurem is Sheegoth. :D

Also, yeah titanoboa is very awesome. It would be really cool to have something as big as wailord if they give emphasis to its length.

They increased the number of legendary for gameplay reasons and for the anime tie ins. The later generations were able to reveal one legendary per year, hyping a big "new pokemon", even without new games out. And the later games also have more post-game legendaries to be caught by the player.

They could reduce the number of new legends for post-game by going with the "new old region" set up from Gold and Silver, but it doesn't seem like they ever want to do that again...

Reshiram and Zekrom were used by ancients kings to build their kingdom, that's it. They aren't comparable to the god-like legendaries we've seen in gen 3 and gen 4 in terms of backstory. Kyurem is initially introduced as some kind of alien Pokemon that absorbs life, but in B2/W2, it's said that it's the remains of an original legendary Pokemon which eventually split into all three legendaries from B/W.

Well, the Gen 3 legends were much bigger though. The main focus there was forming continents and oceans, which obviously involved changing the weather. The Gen 5 weather trio was just about manipulating the weather.
I'm aware as to why they do so many legendaries but they could just as easily do regular event pokemon without them being legendary.

I never played B/W2 so thanks for the info about that trilogy. I didn't get the point of them as all that was said was N wanted one of them to make the world built to his ideals.

Im aware of gen 3 legendaries lore. I just don't think the kami trilogy really do anything interesting or original.

Just got my account activated, aaaaand...

Team Chespin all the way!

Initially I was a Froakie guy, but all the fan art made me realize the grass might be greener w/ Chespin (see what I did there?).

Anyhoo... there's an image I picked up from this thread whilst lurking--

Can that be made into an icon? I love Chaplin, so it seems like a match made in heaven for me ;P

EDIT: Also, this will officially become my first Pokemon game :O I've got a friend who absolutely loved the first 2 (I just wasn't interested back then), but felt the sequels failed to "evolve" the series in a meaningful way. But now he's pretty f'n excited about the new game, and that sorta heightened my own curiosity from Black & White (again, didn't play 'em, but they certainly piqued my interest). So yeah, I am obscenely excited for this game now...

Good taste wins out in the end! Welcome aboard :)

aha! Thanks! And yeah, Chespin definitely seems the way to go as far as the starters are concerned--about how long until their evolutions are typically revealed?? Additional Pokemon? Features new to the game? What's the general timeline for Pokehype?

Let's see... in order:

Never.
As they feel, usually in small waves of 3.
Corocoro will probably have something each month
There's a timeline floating around, someone will probably link it right after I type this

So like any news...

;_;
Do you guys want the whole game revealled to you beforehand? Based on previous trends usually once a month we'll get a dribble of news until a month or two before launch where we'll get a lot more info. Maybe next month we will get silhouettes of new promo pokemon in the new movie with it actually being revealled in the next issue. Perhaps some occasional news like region name, proffesor design/name, starting town and random screenshots spreadout until release. New features and mechanics will likely be detailed much closer to launch.
