Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Not open for further replies.
Satisfied as I am, I think my Wii U is fucked. Turned itself off, blinking red light, felt much hotter than usual. I've moved other stuff away to give it more ventilation in the event that this was a fluke, but I always fear the worst with this kind of thing.

So it doesn't start up now at all?

Call customer support now (in case you're not on the phone already).

So it doesn't start up now at all?

It starts up. Turned off second time as well, but that could be because I immediately switched it back on first time. First noticed the problem that it wouldn't connect to the Internet on CoD, and downhill from there.

Trying the console now, and it's online at least.

Sounds like an overheating problem with it turning off. But the internet-connection part does not make sense if it's only overheating,
Not cool at all. I guess you should use it some more. If it happens again, call customer service.

Tried it again, got most of the way through a Team Deathmatch in CoD, did it again.

Carried the console upstairs intending to phone immediately, then almost dropped the fucking thing when the KING OF HOUSESPIDERS leapt out at me; i can't imagine he was inside the console all that time unless he really is something worth fearing, but I did wipe away some webbing beside the fan.

A spider may have killed my Wii U.

Hilarious!

Nintendoland is fun, but I just play it in short bursts; haven't played it in multiplayer yet, but that will happen soon enough.

This is the best way to play it imo. As an alternative in between bigger games sort of... Same goes for NSMB U, just finish parts up until you can save and then play something else.

anyone else have issue with the left analog stick? i haven't really used it much since i like playing NSMBU with the dpad for movement but last night i noticed that when i use the left analog stick to type with it goes will do things that i do not press like going up and left when i press down, or it will highlight my user picture instead of going to the letter i was moving towards, this happened in the eshop, netflix while trying to search and while trying to setup my system. It kinda feels like the deadzone is way too small?

sometomes i drop wifi connection for no reason. I have to reenter the password. anyone else have this problem? My PS3 isnt dropping the connection ever.

I don't have to type in the password again, but my Wii U loses connection with the wifi regularly. It's really weird, I can play one or two games of blops before it loses the connection, but the internet browser works fine. Then, the browser stops working, but blops multi will be working when I go back.

Nintendo have really failed at making something that just works right out of the box.

I like my Wii U so far and I am looking forward to Pikmin 3, W101, and Bayonetta 2.

I have a problem with it though, all online features and apps seem to work just fine, but every time I attempt to play a game online (Any sort of matchmaking mode) It tries to load the mode and it then just gives me an error.

Could this be a problem with the modem, or the Wii U?

Ninja Gaiden 3......WOW is this game dope! Am I the only one who thinks this?

Sure it has some shortcomings, but it hasn't dampened my overall enjoyment of the product one bit.

I LOVE NG3 myself, I own it, Mario, Tekken, Batman, Trine 2, Sonic. love them all

such an odd issue to have. I've been having an issue with netflix myself as well but i think it has to do with netflix since its being problematic on my appletv as well.

The problem is fixed! As it turns out, plugging your Wii U into a 3-1 style HDMI splitter causes Netflix to think your trying to 'record' movies (it reads it as an elgato, or HDPVR). I had to plug my Wii U directly into it's own HDMI port. Silly, considering my Xbox 360 never had such problems. Just one more thing Nintendo needs to address. I can't imagine how many people may have a similar problem.

I have $55 left in my eShop wallet...

Part of me is tempted to get AC3...I played about 10 minutes of the first one and didn't care for it...but I think this would be more fun. But I'm probably wrong.

Hmmm...maybe I just hold onto it for games like The Cave and whatnot.

(EDIT)
I have MSF, NAN, Madden 13 downloaded already.

Well, I have to admit that ZombiU is probably one of the best games I've played this year, a new genre on itself I would say, a First Person Survival Horror.
No, it's not a shooter, even if you're lucky and find someone else's zombie full of ammo, the game obligates you to analyse the situation and to think well what has to be done before doing it.

For it's sequel, I don't want a "better fighting system" because this game is not about fighting, is about thinking and it doesn't need a combo system or zombies that require you to perform some "just frames defenses" or "special attacks" to kill them. It's all about thinking and knowing where to shot, and where to fight.

I wound up giving it my GOTY vote in the GAF GOTY 2012 vote (still open!). Such a well thought out game, I really hope they get a shot at a sequel without time constraints.

I also have bought Batman AC (IQ is miles better than the Xbox 360 version and I haven't noticed those framerate drops outside of some cut-scenes)

Will do.

I just received Batman, so that should be cool. Glad I waited

I've been playing Batman all night, you guys are gonna love it. The pad features are gimmicky but definitely fun to use.

Has anybody gone all digital yet? I'm thinking of just buying games from the eshop since it looks like everything will be released there.

Has there been any news of Nintendo eventually linking purchased to your ID and not the console?

To be quite honest, I haven't had this much fun beating a Mario game since Mario 64. Just that great feeling of exploring and that drive to collect everything to 100% the game. Rented and beat Ninja Gaiden razors edge. Never played the original version but this one was really worth my time. Currently playing through Zombie U. Best zombie game of the year? If only we get Dragon Quest X localized :(. That and Monster Hunter would engulf my life. The only other question that remains is which system will i get to go along with my Wii U for this next gen. If im not impressed by Sony and MS's offerings, i may just go with the X51 and be PC/Nintendo this upcoming gen.

If anyone wants to add me on the WiiU, my ID is VargJL.

hopefully a firmware update fixes it. my wifi drops like crazy

Until there is news that our purchases are tied to an account and not the console, I am staying physical.

I'd like to but for physical games that get price reduced a couple months after launch, it doesn't seem economic. Unless similar price cuts happen in the eShop too, which I don't expect.

Personal must haves that feature off-tv play, I'll probably go digital for them. Games like Nintendoland that require the TV I'll probably stay disc?

I love my WiiU. Don't regret buying it at all! Looking forward to Rayman and Pikmin 3 this year. Been replaying NSMBU, such a fun game!

Holy crap...I'm such a cynic about this stuff but Just Dance 4 is fun as hell. I'm at a party with people getting drunk and going crazy on this thing, I think I need to own this.

I will be satisfied what's something serious happens with WiiU Virtual Console.

That's pretty much where I am.

My kids love it (not shocking), but I found myself getting tired of Mario rather quickly and I have yet to try Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

There are a bunch of games I DO want to play, but I REFUSE to pay for the $60 ports when I have a 360 or PS3 to play most of the games on.

Okay, I'm having further internet connection woes with my Wii U. I bought a Nyko Wii ethernet adapter (which I've seen people connect successfully with) to plug directly into my modem, not router, yet Wii U is still giving me an error message (103-1007). What gives? the modem and cable I want to use are working perfectly with my computer as I type this.

I´m really happy with my WiiU but is there an official explanation about the hard lock \ freezing?

It happened to me on ACIII a lot!

But otherwise I´m having a blast with the family

Wait for The Cave - drops next Thursday!

I can get a full game AND The Cave, I'm not limited to the $55 bucks on the account.

WHAT IS THE BEST THIRD PARTY ACTION GAME...

Darkstalkers, AC3, BLOPS (Oh, nvm, that's not on the eShop for some dumb reason), Batman (I have this on Steam already even though I will probably never play it there), Tekken, Ninja Gaiden...

Hmm....

AC3 is the only one that sounds kinda fun...is it fun?

Help a brotha out.

just bought a wii u today and it seems pretty good so far features wise. my only problem is the internet in it.. took me a long ass time to get the update going due to it failing and all of that shit and now it keeps saying no connection or something simular. ps3 and 360 work fine but not the wii. guess it's a common problem though. also, would like to see a skype app and more apps included. would be great to go with the camera and mic built in.

I loved all the Assassin's Creed games except III. It was terrible. I rarely get worked up about media, but it made me want to punt a puppy when it was over. Take that for what you will.

Considered Ninja Gaiden? I heard they fixed it so it's not gash.

I like mine! ZombiU is fantastic, and Nintendo Land is pretty much the ultimate party game. Unfortunately, the majority of my purchases for the consoles during 2013 will probably be downloadable titles, as I've made a new rule for myself; it's ridiculous to pay $60 for games, so I won't pay more than $40 for any title this year, and see how it goes.

Other than downloadables, there's a lot of the Wii catalog that I missed. Just beat DKCR (fantastic game) and I'm looking to play something like Kirby or maybe even Excitebots next.

Does Nintendo announce Wii U firmware updates prior to them coming out, or do they just show up? I'm wondering if a new one night be just around the corner.

Also, I'm getting tired of waiting for any word about the Wii U Virtual Console. There aren't many games I want to buy for the U right now, but I'd love to pick up a few VC games, if only I could. :/

I have a Phillips full HD TV manufactured in 2009. I have all of my systems hooked up via HDMI. When I hooked up my Wii U I noticed some strange artifacts in the image, mostly on Red backgrounds, extreme blacks. The images would have thin line breaks and distortion.

I switched ports, and even called Nintendo Tech support. I returned my WiiU to the store, but my new one had the same issue. A quick check of my 360 & PS3 Confirmed they functioned fine.

Finally I hooked the WiiU up with componet cables and the image cleared right up!! I have no idea why only the WiiU has this issue, and I was so relieved that I had a clean image, that my anger subsided... so I stil love my WiiU, I just hope there isn't others out there that might have had the same problem and gave up.

Have either of you tried changing your wi-fi channel? Depending on the situation, I keep having to switch between 1 and 11 for my Wii U to work right. When it's acting up, it drops connection every few seconds.

I feel the same way. System has been collecting dust for about a month now, but I could definitely go for some GC classics on the padlet. Otherwise it's gonna be a long wait till Monster Hunter.

I had a similar issue, though once I changed mine it's been relatively fine.

I haven't, but I actually don't have a router set up where my Wii U is at the moment, which is why it's especially frustrating that even plugging the damn thing directly into my modem via ethernet doesn't work either.

Curious, how many of you folks are using Club Nintendo? Finally got involved after a year of delving into the new hardware from Nintendo, I'm already eligible for some pretty awesome stuff, but I'll keep collecting until after my next Wii U game pick ups.

I have the official nintendo eth/usb adapter, but it's hooked to my wii. I'll get it connected to the wiiU one of these days to see if it makes a difference in speeds, though my wiiU's behavior over wifi has been rock-solid so far.

Hmm....

AC3 is the only one that sounds kinda fun...is it fun?

Tekken is pretty amazing - it's about as hardcore as fighters get, but the Mario costumes & mushroom mode/Tekken Ball make it a really good party game.

I had an awesome time with BLOPS II, it really surprised me since it's not my thing. But the epic set pieces and the real world political personages they worked into the story had me geeking out on it. I couldn't put it down, and started up again on Hardened right after finishing it. The online is scary addictive and well populated too.

Arkham City I might like the best from that list - I can understand if you didn't want to pay full price for it again, but having the map on the controller does make it a lot more navigable to me (I miss it a lot when I'm playing just on the pad). It also comes with all the DLC from the other versions. And the stuff they added for Armored Edition is gimmicky but legitimately fun.

I can sympathize with not wanting to pay that, especially if you have kids to look after. But on the other hand, if you're in a house with many others there's a lot to be said for having off screen play too, both for you and the kids. It's so damn useful I'd frankly rather have any of these games on the U than my PS3. At no point during Arkham City have I felt short changed for paying full price.

Weird, I'm really enjoying ACIII and I didn't care for the other games. The setting is marvelous.

The setting is the thing I like the most about it (especially the opening). But I find it has a bit too much "oh no, you didn't follow the script exactly, or you walked outside of the invisible box, do it all again." After a while it made me lose interest and I have had a hard time going back to it. That may say more about me than the game though, I would never tell anybody it isn't a really cool experience walking around in that world because it definitely is. I'll finidh it for sure.
