Just saw the X Trailer on my 46" TV via eShop....sooo good

Is there a download for this on the eShop? I don't have a Wii U so I don't know. If there is are you able to DL and upload it? I emailed Ninty PR and even they don't have a download version of the video.

Holy crap o_O I haven't been following gaming news for a few weeks and now this and Wind Waker HD. It looks amazing, are we sure this is real-time gameplay footage from the Wii U? With all this underpowered/worse than current gen talk this looks too good to be true especially if this game is as huge as Xenoblade. I mean, it's like Uncharted 2 with better IQ and not in tiny corridor levels, but in an open world.

Why did you buy a Wii U before today for a game that wasn't revealed until today and won't be in stores until late next year?
You could have earned interest on that money, you know.

Dude, throughout the whole thread, you're trying to dictate *when* people should or shouldn't buy a Wii U.

Relax a bit.

Yes, it's definitely in-game.

Through what we can see in the teaser, I'd guess what can be seen in the Doll take off gif is at most about 1/3 of the entire map; we know there's a colony/base to the south, a large area to the east, and we can see mountains in the far north-east.

It's huge. Makes me wonder what other Japanese developers think of it.

I honestly think Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD, and possible new 3D Mario game will be released in Holiday 2013 so X would be pushed to be released in early 2014. (My guess would be Feb)

No way would they put those 3 games in the Holiday together.

Kamiya probably doesn't give a shit.

Don't know about the others.

I haven't read this whole thread but did anyone think of searching Miiverse for the account names featured in the trailer: monocap, kojimaru and monibur1. I wonder if they're real and linked to Monolithsoft. I would check but I don't have my Wii U to hand.

That's amazing then. Who would have thought that Nintendo would be the one to save JRPGs. I wonder what the people at Square have been doing all these years, when a small developer like Monolith can create something as impressive as this with their very first HD game.

The "very first" is misleading: they already got the world streaming tech working with Xenoblade, it's just applying the same principle to new data and expanding on it, the know-how is already there. S-E, on the other hand, haven't researched that direction and stuck to more segmented worlds so obviously they're gonna be one step behind until they invest in some more forward-thinking R&D (or ship the Just Cause guys to japan).

I'm so happy today. I just got Xenoblade Chronicles from someone in my local area for $40. :D

Never thought it would become so rare so fast. I'm actually really enjoying playing the Wii games I missed on my Wii U.. I love backwards compatibility.

Now on to my quest of finding The Last Story.

It seems pretty far in development. Do you guys expect this for holiday2013? (Did they mention anything about release period?) Man, I will play this game to death.

I think its possible but I'd suggest 2014 Q1 is more realistic. Defoes possible though, afterall we have seen gameplay and a very far along area of its world.

Its still Jannuary, why can't it??

True but thankfully they showed they have the goods this time than force feeding us nintendo land and other questionable games again lol.
Your pompom is questionable. Nintendoland is the bee's knees.

I realise they are totally different genres but I don't think they would release two Mario titles at around the same time for the same machine. Even if they are both ready for release by the end of year (which I doubt), I would expect one would be held back until next year.

Oh I never said it wasn't. It was just a bit annoying they spent so much time on it at e3 last year when everyone was expecting bombs......with our overinflated expectations.

They did it with the 3DS, they could very well do it with the WiiU

Maybe in Japan, I mean they will be working on it for 3 years. Most of it looked presentable, besides some bad animations here and there.

So unless a lot of the game is still incomplete, I think 2013 Q4 release in Japan, Spring for EU/NA.

To me this trailer looks as good as that star wars 1313 that people were so crazy about some time ago

People went crazy for that because the transition from cutscene to gameplay, the cutscene looked so good it blew my mind. Then I thought about it and realised it was just a next gen corridor simulator, I am not excited to see how corridors will be rendered, developers have mastered that this gen.

I wouldn't be so confident that this game will come out so early worldwide after its Japan release after seeing what they did with Xenoblade.

But who knows... maybe the worldwide praise of Xenoblade have convinced Nintendo to not do the same mistake again. And hopefully "Xenoblade 2" won't be only available in short supplies only at Gamestop.

I would have thought that too, but this is clearly a different case to Xenoblade.

It was in their North America and European Nintendo Direct; they plan on releasing it in the west no doubt.

The conditions for that game are not the conditions for this game. They see what Xenoblade is going for online, they know people want the sequel, the type of hardcore gamer who buys lots of other games too. That's obviously why they made it the big finale of their direct.

...........Let's just say you are wrong and leave it at that.

Come over to the graphical discussion thread that has had lots of activity for this kind of conversation.

I hope this comes out in 2014 in the states.

So as a comparison how much did Xenoblade change (Upgrades or downgrades) from it's first showing as Monado in 2009 to the final release?

Love how Xenoblade was originally titled Monado: BOTW but was changed to Xenoblade, whereas X already gets a big, juicy red X to serve as its project name.

I really think something big is on its way...

i hope monolith found a way to solve pop in problems, it was pretty bad in xenoblade.

Stuff like this really does not bother me at all. I mean, yeah if all the grass was flickering in and out then that would be weird but from what I saw in the trailer it was just an inch of grass appearing, no big deal. It all looks amazing!

Imagine if they made a Zelda game similar to this. A massive diverse world with monsters everywhere (you can use them to create tools like Monster Hunter, etc.). You can access any dungeon you want (but due to certain weapons/equipment needed there would be a loose order to follow) and they are also better integrated into the environment. Like you might enter a cave and at some point you realize it's actually a dungeon. I think that would be cool.

I truly hope your idea is what Nintendo is making. The game should feel like a world that's yours to explore. No hand holding. Stop trying to make Zelda accessible, it should only be for players who like exploration and challenge.

Having 8gb of ram sure didn't help in getting less pop in in Assassin Creed 2 on PC.

It's all in how the developper build the game.

its both really. You are comparing a PC to a console. Remember consoles have ram that is specific to a single-purpose (running the game). When it comes to software, sure they could of avoided the pop-in by optimizing, but at what cost? xenoblade would probably look very ugly if there were no pop-ins.

In Nintendo-like fashion, they did not go all-out in promoting a new IP and instead let it succeed or fail on its own merits. It succeeded, and thus the next installment gets the big game marketing treatment. Nintendo doesn't attempt to make "manufactured hits" through marketing.

If you are unfamiliar with the term "manufactured hit", think Homefront or Dante's Inferno. Situations like that.

Well, it was shown at E3 2009, and essentially entered the debug phase about 4 months or so later, in October. We know that the character models were updated (faces for Shulk, Reyn and the like) and some models were completely updated (Fiorung). They also updated the user interface for battles.

During the debug phase they refined the system, and added a "down spike" status to reduce the godly break/topple systems effectiveness.

No idea what else changed without reading more of the guides or rewatching the trailers.

No it shouldn't (it's bad enough they are wasting money remaking the worst 3D Zelda game), Zelda games have enough trouble with it's difficulty curve without adding non-linearity to make it worst.

Wind Waker the worst? The only bad things about this game is the stupidly easy difficulty and the Triforce hunt at the end.
