Because when white people do ignorant things, it's an individual issue. When black people do ignorant things, naturally ALL black people act the same way and thus the "genuine questions" are brought up, I mean black people are a hiveminded group of people so black person should obviously be able to answer questions pertaining to the actions of another black person.. True story - I asked one of my *really* racially conscious cousins who was visiting from the UK how she liked her coffee one morning, ie. black, cream, two sugars, etc.
Her, and I quote: "I take it clear".
Me: "wat"
Her: "Clear. I don't accept that delineation of blackness for coffee"

You'd be surprised how much more money the white guys wearing suits with jobs get from the government compared to those on welfare.

If racial inequality was exposed in schools at a young age, it would REALLY help privileged kids to understand why they live in such different circumstances and why their friends and neighbors aren't resorting to crime.
As a white man growing up in a predominantly white area, you have to want to know those things about racial inequality. Otherwise, nobody wants to teach or talk about it.
So you've never heard about subsidies I'm guessing.

I don't think that's true at all. One of the biggest showcases of "ghetto culture" is a big hit on TV; Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo is a perfect example of "ghetto culture". I'd argue that there is just as much of ghetto culture that looks more like this as there is ghetto culture that looks like Worldstar Hiphop (especially since there logically would be a lot more people like that and neighborhoods like that given the larger population of non-black people in America)...we just call it "redneck" culture instead.

Well I guess I'm lucky that my friends and family don't think like that. Even when I was living in South East London back in the 80's I didn't come across many people that were genuinely racist.
But I guess I was lucky back then as well as I had a good mix of black and white friends who all got along.
why not call it plain? I would understand what plain coffee was, whereas clear seems some techno translucent stuff that I most certainly wouldn't have in my cupboard.

This guy really has no business being a security guard. Rule 1 for dealing with out of control people is not to loose your cool and get into an argument. You need to maintain a calm tone yet firmly state what has to happen.
I was out of work for three years because as a self-employed tradesman the contracts dried up. But because the Govt think that my wife earns enough to support both of us I received nothing.
It's disheartening to see other people who live together but don't let the Govt know about it then claim for free school dinners and better benefits because they think they're single parents.
So please don't try and label me as some middle-classed twat who has no idea but look down at the peasants because they decide to get drunk all day and beat their wife and kids.

When some friends of mine moved out to the Bay area, and having visited them since, the thing I'm most jealous of besides the weather is the distinct lack of this kind of shit compared to the South. This kind of behavior happens all over the fucking place, just not Atlanta. Even in the more rural areas, we have armed guards at clubs.
We are more polite generally to strangers, but the behavior of the ghetto/white trash types is so much worse here from what I've seen.

Kids get "shouted at" by the security guard. Probably for acting like the little terrors mom and dad are raising them to be.
Mom gets irate because someone checked her badass kids.
Childish "I'm going to get the last word; you ain't the boss of me!" toddler-grade arguing and posturing begins. Every request to leave challenges said "you ain't the boss of me" mentality and raises the stakes for hood-ass hoodrat. Requests to leave are but so much pecking at the misplaced pride of the soon-to-be-tasered.
Friends show up to add more balls to said hoodrat, who feels more emboldened and empowered by her fellow rats and rodents. The pressure is on now: she's made a scene of it and attracted a crowd. Back down and he GOT THE BEST OF YOU. IN FRONT OF ALL THESE IMPORTANT DIGNITARIES AND HOOD OFFICIALS, NO LESS. We can't have that.
This leads to increased bloviating and tension, then she gets too close for comfort, leading to the shoving.

It doesn't matter the scope that is frequently the case.
There are two people that dress up in suits every day for my job, a white guy and a black guy. When people talk about the white guy they talk about how "he dresses up everyday for work" or "where does he think he's going? To an interview?"
When people talk about the black guy they mention how "he doesn't dress like other black people". A minor detail but the discussion/talk of the white guy resolves around his choice to dress that way while the conversation around black guy resolves around how he isn't the familiar black.
It's a really small and petty thing but it shows how ingrained the notion that individualism is selectively applied to people.

No offense to your cousin, it's just this is uncharted territory for me. I live in New Orleans, and I dunno, maybe because race has always been so complicated here, but no one I've ever personally met from here is like this. A lot of folks tend to be laid back and joke about race rather a lot to the point where I'm not even sure what would be considered offensive in other parts of the country. I've heard casual conversations down here where people say things like, "she's not white, she's light" or "she's not black, she's creole", and I get all uncomfortable as a white guy because I have no fucking clue how I'm supposed to acknowledge that. Course on the other hand, I've had friends back in elementary school get into knock-down, drag-out fights because someone liked someone "lighter" than she is.
