It won't even be a joke when the article shows up on kotaku.True, but any new info is better than no info in my book. Cybering with that 1080P Kinect on XBL Platinum. Lol jkjk
Have a hard time believing that Microsoft would push a video game console on the board room instead of just using the PC version of Kinect hooked up to a PC, which is something they've already marketed to meeting room type situation. Why would they want to sell loss leading hardware to a demographic that won't buy any games to make up for the losses?
Sales guys aren't really the most reliable when it comes to rumors and gossip.

That is genuine interesting stuff. It would be really cool if Microsoft ends up making another (more mature) push into mainstream for the industry like Wii did last gen. And no, I am not equating Durango to the Wii (except in the sense that it has the potential for broad appeal). I guess I am the only person who hopes that they succeed at reaching this broader market that they're targeting. We had our Microsoft Gold Partner come in yesterday to show off (and try to sell an implementation for) Lync 2013. Lync is pretty much the corporate version of Skype, with full integration with Outlook, Office, Sharepoint etc.
The main sales guy mentioned than the next Xbox will ship with 1080p Kinect and have full integration with both Skype and Lync. He suggested that the next Xbox will find a place in boardrooms, due to its native, high quality, video conferencing abilities. He was worried, as they're also a partner / reseller for Polycom.
It is interesting if it's true that the Durango can get up to 170GB/s. That would mean they could pretty much match Orbis on bandwidth and have almost 2.5GB more RAM.The bandwidth discussion in this thread is...interesting.
It would probably be easier to just buy a Durango with Kinect bundled instead of setting up a PC for those purposes, especially of those apps are native.

I wouldn't doubt that they can get up there bandwidth wise.
I cannot see any serious business buying a Xbox360 for video conferencing. Some of the more advanced polycom's cameras automatically detect then rotate 360 degrees and record whoever is talking at a table.

Isn't the ESRAM limited to a few functions like AA and achieving a resolution bump, for example, because there is only a 32MB to draw juice from?

a 1080P Kinect & enough compute power should be able to detect a dick & blur it out.
This is against the constitution. What about our rights!?a 1080P Kinect & enough compute power should be able to detect a dick & blur it out.

Simply have a off & on setting for the Adult filter.
Wear a Google Glass style AR glasses. Then and write an app that superimposes dicks on everything.
I have seen the future of personal computing. And that future is full of dicks.

Nobody knows at this point in time besides insiders.
You would need Orbis level bandwidth to pull off something like this:

So Microsoft is definitely up to something to not gimp Durango for Epic.
Seeing as how Epic games had a big influence on the final specs of the Xbox 360, it wouldn't be surprising that they are doing the same with the next-gen xbox.
Epic, Dice, Crytek, 343, Rare, Lionhead, Remedy probably worked MS hard sometimes in late 2011.
Wasn't blizzard talking to Microsoft as wellEpic, Dice, Crytek, 343, Rare, Lionhead, Remedy probably worked MS hard sometimes in late 2011.

It's not like no one knows how to create an awesome machine, it all comes down to bang for buck. What do you want to do, who do you want to sell it to, and how much are you going to sell it for? What that would really imply is that Durango will not be missing out on any third party games (surprise?) because they know what kind of machine they need. All those studios, you would think MS would come up with some amazing machine.
I've never heard of it, but I don't doubt it. Microsoft is always on the ball with that sort of software. I bet putting it right there next to Skype (and possibly being better) will make it a lot more popular.Cool info.
Lync (even current Lync) is one of the best Microsoft products that noone has ever heard of. Was working from home the other day and couldn't make a meeting, and Lync was so freaking seamless in sharing screens, documents, and teleconferencing... I was in awe pretty much the whole time that a product would work so seamlessly.

I still think Durango will probably be neck and neck with Orbis once the final specs hit. There's gonna be something to balance out the ram bottleneck or they wouldn't even put the fucking system out. It makes no sense.

who says they haven't?
I don't think Durango will be bottlenecked by bandwidth.
Just design your GPU to max out your bandwidth and esram.
I'm pretty sure Kinect being used for video boardroom conferences isn't exactly the kind of info people were hoping for.
Didn't say they haven't. But the rumors aren't lightning up my imagination![]()

No but its a good confirmation of what we already knew. The jump to the full resolution system that was hampered by the older USB throughput.
What would be best if people didn't instantly assume that if something doesn't fit their perfect idea of what one of the consoles was going it doesn't instantly mean the world is over for their own hopes for a system.
Not meaning you by the way. Just...well everyone who does that.
OH and here is another vote for Lync.
