Hispanics will soon surpass white population in California

Really? I mean, fucking really?

Don't get all excited; I'm sorry I jumped the gun on that one. Mexican culture is overall a wonderful thing just like any culture but when you grow up with a fucked up family you tend to hate everything about it regardless of it's plus sides. I'm really sorry i jumped the gun on that one. I was just so pissed off today I'm not going to make this into a sap story but my grandfather did some pretty fucking fucked up things today that I have no control over. So I hope you can forgive my brashness in my speedy rant and look past my mistakes.

I'm talking about Ventura, Oxnard, and a tiny bit of San Diego.
have you been there? Lived there? Sorry if I didn't clarify that in my post. I don't see how I'm being racist to my own kind? I am Mexican I have Mexican friends and we agree on this. But you can't understand where I'm coming from so you get scared and have to say I'm racist or an to go fuck myself with an object.

How does that add to the discussion? My mom is Mexican Colombian but she looks like a "beaner" she knows that we all know that I'm not being racist in acknowledging. Just like I'm not being racist in hating my own grandfathers way of treating and raising me. And sure you can say BUT HE'S ONLY ONE MAN. HOW CAN I JUDGE A WHOLE MALE ETHNIC GROUP on one man?? I live in the real world, I work I go to school, I hear the horrible stories my mom tells me of her work. It is a cultural thing and if you don't want to except that fine by me but don't tell me I'm racist or wrong because you don't live in this ethnicity so you ultimately don't know.

I uh... what? Those are generalizations based on your grandfather. And you're using the "my Mexican friends agree" thing? C'mon! There are self hating Mexicans, unfortunately. When I was young, they would try to make you feel ashamed if you were Mexican. Especially in the white schools. Some of the kids would pretend to be white just so they could fit in and they would grow up resenting their own race. It was a sad thing to see. Kinda wish I could look them up and see if they ever got over it and accepted their heritage.

Does this mean the Latino culture thread will rise from the dead?

Also from my experience Latinas > USA Latinas. I don't know why but the Colombians/Chile chicks I've talked to have all been ace. Wish they lived in LA. Maybe I should move to Houston or Miami.

My wife's Cuban, she and I are both from Miami. It's a constant battle over who wears the pants in the relationship. Cuban women love to argue holy shit.

California's the shit now, if you visit go up North. Socal sucks. All you see in Socal are dumb little first generation Mexicans that spew out "VIVA MEXICO" and "fuck America" when they've only been to Tijuana once. Then there's the poor farm workers that have like 5 kids but most of them are nice, but then you get some nasty ones like the one guy complained about in his apartment complex thread. They like to ram their cart into you at Walmart and then pretend they don't speak English.

I may sound racist but it happens too much, I believe its a cultural thing. Ugh especially some Mexican men and my grandfather (I'm Mexican/Russian) I really hate that machismo shit most Mexican men are taught. Like chihuahuas all bark no bite. Mexican culture sucks I hate my family.

As a mexican, Im offended by your shitty attempt to hide your racist generalizations against my people, and culture. One small sample doesn't mean all mexicans are like that, you idiot. Furthermore, I doubt that you really are mexican and if you are, gtfo with your BS. Also, piss off to the stormfront forums where you belong.

Hey half hispanic-GAF. Generally do you guys refer to yourselves simply as Hispanic or whatever that other half may be. I'm half Colombian and have always been self descriptively inept in that area

Look, the Mexican side of my family is pretty damn awful too, but that's just my family, not all Mexicans. Know you seem to have had a bad experience with some people, but there are better ways to discuss machismo or problems you have with the culture without resorting to gross generalizations.

hawt.

Depends on your upbringing, my family refers to me as the gringo because I hunt and use English as my primary language. You don't have to embrace the culture, only thing I took from it was a woman and the food.

Ok I apologize for telling you to go fuck yourself with a rake. That wasn't very kind of me. But come on man. You know the latino population has been pretty disadvantaged around these parts. You know the issues the black community has? Well it's not exactly the same thing going on but it's similar in terms of socio-economics you know? And despite the disadvantages in my experience I know lots of really hard working latinos. I mean I guess I don't know too much though for all I know. I just moved to OC and haven't ventured further north than John Wayne Airport or further south than downtown San Clemente.

It's ok my post did sound a bit racist and waay biased. Well I guess the only excuse why a majority of the Mexican-american students I had to deal with in high school were rude and disrespectful was because they were disadvantaged? There's so many programs from Mexican born/ Mexican 1st generation children and adults in Oxnard that I don't really see them being disadvantages against there (Plus a lot of them actually had homes! They weren't poor most at my high school anyways). Especially when I lived in Escondido for a couple months and one Mexican american student yelled at a fob Mexican lady and her two kids to "go back to the border". It wasn't a white kid yelling that....

It's been years since I lived n Oxnard so I don't know if there's really an racism between other ethnicities to Mexicans. But I can't say I really saw it other than my biasedness and other mexicans hating on mexicans.

Lol I live in lakeside, this whole area is white washed.

Yikes. My dad used to live out there. It's like stepping through a portal to the South, but without the humidity.

Usually Hispanic because the other side is not quite 100% Irish (bit o' English in there too) and because of the last name, but mostly because I love watching Mexico beat the ever loving shit out of the US in soccer.

HPro, you're my new favorite poster here in GAF and Mex-GAF now and forever. Hopefully Gio Dos Santos repeats that goal form the gold cup 2011 final vs the USA aka the nads.

Also what's with some Mexicans and roosters?

My gf is Chilean so I agree with this. Chile is a nice little hidden gem when it comes to sexy ass women of the world.

Thought u accidentally cross posted a gaming forum post in your post... no offense intended.

Tell me about it. It's horrible, but the rent is cheap and I keep to myself. I get the fuck out of here to do anything worthwhile.

If it's the goal I'm thinking of, it was a thing of absolute beauty. He zagged, he juked, he evaded what looked like 10 players and floated it right in. Brought a tear to my eye.

This is a very nice turn of events :) Hopefully the same happens in texas in a timely manner so that we can finally get something done in this country!

I empathize. My dad's side is essentially an amalgamation of every northern European nation. So despite my unequivocally Scottish last name I've always seen myself as Hispanic. Thanks for the input :)

Do you want me to ask one of my guy friends to make an account here to prove to you? Do you want me to post pictures of my family and of so you can see how Mexican I really am? This reminds me of this article: http://johnhawks.net/node/1965

You're just going to completely disagree? You've never met a macho Mexican man before? So all you know are nice kind Mexican men? Sure there's different type of personalities in every culture. But this type of personality I keep seeing is so similar to one another. I don't know where you're from but you must live in paradise? Maybe I should move there!

I like how other cultures can see their pros and cons but here I'm finding out that if you complain about an aspect of your own culture (Mexican culture) everyone throws daggers at you. I'm sorry I'm a poor writer and I cant express my thoughts to satisfy you and not get you on edge. But can you please explain to me. Help me understand a bit more where you're coming from and why my ideas are wrong instead of taking the shortcut call me a lie an idiot and that I'm so stupid.

Holy shit. Holy holy shit. Do you even know Mexican Culture? Like honestly? First Generation Mexicans. I live in socal, I'm a first gen mexican. I got a degree in accouting. My brother a doctor, my sister a financial director. But hey, fuck america right? We are as mexican as we get, and super prideful of our heritage, so get the fuck out man.

Edit: And daggers at each other? Mexican culture in my family supports family values and sticking together.

I lived in Torrance briefly and someone in the building next door had one. O_o

As a Latino, goddamn do I hate being called Mexican. But we all look the "same" so whatever. Also this isn't a big deal, central valley and Nor-norcal (Humboldt, etc.) are predominately white, republican and will remain that way, and port cities are typically minority-majority and left-leaning. Status quo stays the same.

Also I Forgot to add San Diego has the king of the white people!

And the son of my old Congressman who went to prison for bribery is now a Congressman... in Lakeside.

I live in Southern California. And no, I don't want you to do any of those things. I'm not the one that said you weren't Mexican.

I'm sure if a black person said that they hated "black culture" and accused every black man of being like their grandfather, they'd get the same shit.

Doesn't really matter in the end, right? Just identify with with ever one you like. It's a nice bonus of being half. But... I am the whitest Mexican that ever was, so I often just say I'm a mutt and stick with that. Or if I do say I'm Mexican I feel compelled to add that hey, my sister looks Mexican, I swear! :)

I live in Torrance and I can confirm these terrible birds of morning.

Nooooo H.Pro fail.

Well that fantastic I'm proud of you and your family (I wish my family and my firends families where just like yours (or maybe we're all just from broken homes unlike all the wonderful mexican families that I've never been a part of or seen)). I guess I would be second generation. Did you go to high school in Oxnard? Did you hear the shit that most of the first gen spewed in the classes I was in? No you didn't? Oh that's too bad you missed some very great memories. As one commenter posted Oxnard is a cesspool. And I couldn't agree more. I'm sorry that all my views on my Mexican culture is skewed by my memories of Oxnard and Ventura. I'm so sorry.

Have you met any Mexicans in college? All the ones I've met there have been the nicest most awesome people. Ranging from first gen to second and third. Hell, I work with first/second gen high school students in the Pomona areas and make sure they all get into college, and they are as bright as they get. Like, there will always be a bad bunch of people, that goes with any race, anyone? But don't you stereotype everyone. I know a guy who just got his papers and now works for an audit firm, fresh from Zacatecas and came to high school/college here. Like, I can give you a whole slew of counter examples to yours. IE: Don't stereotype Mexicans, I hate it, its totally undeserved, and uncalled for.

Edit: Or anyone for that matter.

It's not, but people are allowed to call you out on your bullshit and generalizations. Two sided coin, brosef. And you're insulting some of our members personally. Yes, first gen Mexicans own computers and have access to the internet. Shocking, I know!

Wait a sec... I thought I remembered Hunter going down with Cunningham, (They were tight.) but he didn't.
Cunningham came to my high school civics class when he was in office. He was a tool.

Same. My mom's side is all Mexican and my dad's is Irish, French, and god knows what else.

There's a difference between not liking aspects of your culture and saying some of the things you said. There are aspects of Mexican and American culture that I don't like either.

Like you said, you were posting with emotion. I've probably said worse while being caught up in a moment.
