MS was creative in the early years of the 360 but people did not respond well to it - so they continued with what worked the best.
MS with new IPs? What. must be a joke.
Could be some of these :
.So let me get this straight.
Your problem with MS is that all they make are a bunch of sequels to successful franchises.
No. Feel free to milk your franchises all you want. Just make some games for people who don't give a shit about the big 4.
And your problem with MS is that they won't make a bunch of sequels to these new franchises.
No, my problem is they won't even support new exclusive IPs because it's cheaper to just get some 3rd party game with timed-exclusive content that somehow works.
And your problem with MS is that they failed to make a sequel to a successful franchise.
Halo Wars isn't its own franchise. It's still part of Halo. What I'm saying it they won't make a sequel to a game unless it sells 3 million. They made profit on Halo Wars. It's not like they lost money. but it didn't sell "well" so they don't care
Alan Wake, Crackdown, Ratchet & Clank: Nuts and Bolts, Kameo, Viva Pinata all say hi.I think they just don't have the crowd that buys those kind of games.
Most Xbox gamers are ex-PC gamers or casual COD, Madden players... I know i'm generalizing the thing but it's true most of the time.
The thing that i never liked about the Xbox platform, especially the 360, is that they don't have that much variety compared to Sony. No platformers, no 3rd person type games like Infamous, no games like LBP, Heavy Rain etc.
If they show me that they care, i will be there.
Anyways, it looks like MS is getting back into launch worthy shape. Their first parties have been quiet for a long time so I'm sure they have something but isn't Black Tusk brand new (started Nov 2012)? I doubt they'll have a game ready for launch in a year. Also I don't think Kinect 2 being integrated with core games is a bad thing... maybe a little risky.
Wow, I hope you're joking. They have all of those. Really the 360 has easily as diverse lineup as the PS3, maybe more simply because they money-hatted a bunch of stuff from Japan. The thing that i never liked about the Xbox platform, especially the 360, is that they don't have that much variety compared to Sony. No platformers, no 3rd person type games like Infamous, no games like LBP, Heavy Rain etc.
I hope one of those IP's is a hardcore third person shooter. MS does need their own flagship TPS game. A direct competitor to SOCOM.

Microsoft clearly set their mind on not making a sequel, why would they create a entire studio to make one?
Glad to see the Kinect bashing is still in full swing here. Keep it up, GAF.

Wow. You're about 8 years late on this post.
Socom is dead. I love the game and still play it even though Confrontation and 4 are mediocre.
Sony killed it. Microsoft doesn't need to waste money on trying to do what Sony did for them.
Socom is dead.
I'm dead serious.
Which is what I'm talking about. Why not make a sequel? It was a successful game. Unless 2 million is somehow awful sales numbers, why not make another?
because unlike that garbage known as Fable 3, it didn't sell 4 million.
Robot Entertainment has a lot of ex-Ensemble guys and were willing to work on a sequel. Microsoft even had them support Halo Wars for awhile until they decided to drop support entirely on it.
Not to mention they could always just get a new developer.
I'm dead serious.
hello Crackdown.
I do want heavy rain type games on durango
Microsoft really has a lot to prove to me in terms of exclusives and the direcion of the console becuase im looking for good games. and still to this date on of my favorite titles is a Sony exclusive Shadow of the Colossus
not to backseat mod, but the level of base trolling in almost every micrsoft thread makes it very hard to have a normal and fruitful discussion.
it's always kinect this, ads that, gold this, casuals that. it's tiring.
You mean that promising new IP that MS hedged on giving a sequel to for so long that Realtime Worlds moved on to another project (and subsequently closing), resulting in a different studio making the mediocre sequel and effectively killing the franchise?
Hell of a way to handle the start of a franchise huh?
Well blame Microsoft for that.
Bu...bu...bu... XBLA doesnt count because they arent big budget games doomed to fail like PS All Stars. It's been hammered to death into people's skulls that Microsoft only stopped with offering a diversified IP lineup at retail because they didn't need to in Years 6-8 because the dividing lines had already been set and they were riding Kinect momentum at that point. They already HAD the hardcore market locked down. They didn't need to blow a bunch of money on a bunch of new IPs that were then failed to be marketed properly like Sony. It was a conscious decision.
That doesn't mean they're incapable of developing new IPs. Goodness knows they continued to line up a bevy of exclusive and creative titles catering to new genres over Xbox LIVE Arcade (Fez, Trials, Minecraft, Mark of the Ninja, etc.). It simply wasn't a priority AT RETAIL and their sales figures back that up.
A new platform represents an opportunity for market expansion so naturally new IPs are going to be developed.
This shouldn't be a grand revelation to people... how daft are you really?
Well blame Microsoft for that.
"But it's ok to troll, because they don't care about the core gamer."
What kind of garbage reasoning is that, seriously. That is some bottom of the barrel shit.

well no, some of the same developers but not the same studio, and it showed. The same studio made Crackdown 2.
Microsoft makes trolls now?

Thats the one, fun game. Wonder what the company that made crackdown 2 is working on.You mean that promising new IP that MS hedged on giving a sequel to for so long that Realtime Worlds moved on to another project (and subsequently closing), resulting in a different studio making the mediocre sequel and effectively killing the franchise?

Actually no... blame the self-defense mechanism of Sony enthusiasts for that.Well blame Microsoft for that.
Sony needs a Socom game to not suck first before Microsoft needs to start thinking about copying it.
thats cool and all, but Sony's got 3-4 new IPs this year alone. they need to step it up even more![]()
I most likely won't waste my money on an MS system ever again but a SOCOM-like game might just make me do that. too bad it'll never happen. I'm talking about no regen health, gameplay that requires you to have some accuracy. The old Socom formula (PS2 era)
I'm dead serious.
Yes I know, which is why I'm counting on MS to resurrect this genre and fill that void I've been craving since the start of this gen.

yikes.Actually no... blame the self-defense mechanism of Sony enthusiasts for that.
Sony enthusiasts who should be spending their time buying and supporting the great Vita handheld instead of drilling "Kinect, casual, ads, charging for XBL" into the minds of people at GAF who have largely already made up their minds on each subject.
