The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Generous use of "already played it" there. He didn't know the voice over was coming from the game...he sure does put a lot of research into his weekly worth readings I guess.

It's more that he already mostly knew how complicated the gun controls are, which is basically all there is to the game.

Actually I thought Patrick was the perfect candidate for this game. Clearly explained everything about it and more which is what I want when I watch this type of games. Jeff would have explained less, and yell out some swear words the rest of the time.

When is that Fire Emblem Quick Look coming out?

Because they put it in Dragon Age 2 instead.

Yeah thats what had me thinking about it.

They put Dead Space and Mass Effect Easter suits in all these other games but they didnt do it with the 2 games themselves even though they are both dark shooty sci fi games.

They put Isaac in a Sims game and Tiger woods FFS.

Seems like EA has a psychotic need to shoehorn multiplayer into everything.

Best way to get that micro transaction money I guess.

Dead Space 3. Jeff/Brad

Was recently played ME2 and thought to myself "why didnt EA put dead space armer in here" and now there is a Mass Effect suit in Dead Space 3. Thats kind of cool I guess.
Wow. Hearing there is only one ammo type is just crushing. I found it kind of funny that Dead Space, a series originally lauded for its unobtrusive UI, now has Brad thumbing through menus for twenty minutes.

To be fair, he was sitting there doing nothing but talking for ~20 minutes of that quick look.

Seriously, what the hell happened to Dead Space.

Watch 34:00 to 35:00, that combat just looks awful. Why does that big guy immediately fade out of existence when he dies at 34:12? At 34:17 and 34:47 the human looking enemies magically warp to a standing position and suddenly are full fledged necromorphs with huge claw arms and gaping holes in their chest. Why is one of the enemies just a guy with glowy eyes holding an axe in each hand? None of the combat animation looks like it has any weight to it.

To be fair the franchise wouldn't exist at all without EA

True. Just a shame that part 1 probably didn't sell as much as they wanted which usually leads this kind of decision making in game design. I am just speculating though.

Yeah, blame all the fuckers who didn't buy Mirror's Edge that shoved EA back into "evil empire" mode

I didn't buy Mirror's Edge because I found it to be mediocre as hell when I played it at my friend's place. The momentum/chase sequences were pretty fun, but the moment you get into a large "puzzle" room, it really turned into a dud.

It seemed weird that Brad was just plowing through Necromorphs like it was nothing. Hopefully that was just due to endgame weapons, or else the combat is broken in DS3.

Really? The visuals seem great to me. :S

It looks like an HD collection for a PS2 game rather than something developed from the ground up for a PS3.

Could be the terrible Youtube compression though, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think patrick remembers what the Sly games actually were. Sly 2 and 3 pretty much have the exact same structure as Sly 4. Sly 1 is the only game where you only play as Sly, and that game is less of a stealth game than it is a traditional platformer.

Keep in mind, the game is heavily cell shaded and runs at 60 FPS. Given the artstyle the game has, it doesn't really have to do anything mindblowing to reach the look their going for.
