Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time reviews

Wait, so how does that work? Do Sly fans generally have a lower standard for videogames?

I'm saying, if you're a fan of the Sly Cooper gameplay then the game is right up your alley, and if you're not it may be worth a rental at best.

Maybe I worded that wrong :/

Just got to Dance Dance Murray, and I think I'd have to agree with 8.0, at least so far.

It's really pretty though. Murray's segment in the intro is godawful, but he's not terrible once you get to the game proper, yet anyway. Sly and the ancestors really are the main draw though.

How much is the PS3 version on the US PSN?

$39.99

So, how does the Cross-Save feature work? Might actually come in handy for me tomorrow.

Once I'm done playing on the PS3, do I manually upload my data somehow, and then download it on the Vita?

Yeah, you'll select the "cross-save" option on the start screen. It's a quick process and you can download the file on either system by selecting "cross-save" again once it's uploaded.

IIRC according to a linkedin profile Sanzaru have already been OK'd to make another PS3 game; what that may be though is anyone's guess.

If it's recent then it's probably a casual game since everyone's moved to PS4 by now or will after this year. PS3 will hang around for a few more years but it'll be treated like a casual device like all of Sony's consoles do after the next one comes out.

If Ratchet and Clank can keep getting poor-selling sequels, then there is always a chance for a new Sly lol (Seriously, how has R&C survived for this long?)

Besides, we all know the media/public won't be happy until it's a fps.

PS3 is "family" console to Sony now (and since Sumo is going for the next LBP) so I'd say Jak and Daxter 5.

wouldn't sanzaru want to try their hands on making their own game now? they are formed because they're a big fan of sly, their first game is to port sly to ps3 and they went on to make an original sly game.

just got the feeling if their next game is not sly, it'd be something new.

The two mainline Future games did decent. They weren't blockbusters, but considering how small the install base was when ToD came out, it did pretty well.

I love Ratchet, but I think he's a little tired. He is a really important part of the PlayStation portfolio, and as long as Insomniac is still excited to make the games, I hope Sony keeps supporting them, but I don't want them to feel like they owe us more Ratchet.

I hope TiT at least breaks even. Sanzaru deserves it.

I never got the impression insomniac felt they owe us Ratchet so they keep making one, actually, I got the impression they are so desperate to increase their userbase that they made so many spinoff and just attach Ratchet name on top of it...

I'm sure in a lot of ways, Ratchet's just a security blanket. Sony and consumers have a certain amount of faith in the brand name, so Insomniac's guaranteed a publisher and an audience, to try new games on.

yup, which is why I felt we'll never got a proper Ratchet again if insomniac partnership with EA is a success.

Seems to me it would make most sense financially to just churn out another Sly.

They've already got all the assets and the experience; they could probably bring out Sly 5 for release next spring quite easily.

im still kind in doubt, is at least as diverse as the previous Sly?

What do you mean by diverse? It's better than 2 or 3, focuses on platforming more than 2 or 3. It has diverse environments and varied mini games that are fun... Way less crappy than past mini games.

The demo was pretty simple and boring because it's literally the first 15 min of the game.

It's way better on PS3 than Vita.

i think im just buying it for not being a scripted action first/third person shooter, besides is only $40.

my favorite sly game. don't pay attention to the reviews. if you like sly series, get this, you won't regret

There's some rough in the game though.

For instance, it lacks the balance of playing as the other characters found in Sly 2. The map system is terrible (why can't they let you view the map overlay, and why is NSWE indicator not found in the map?). There is that terrible minigame involving Bob. Murray doesn't really feel strong in the game. Oh and clue bottles are much more annoying than in 2 (in 2 you can easily rely on sound - the same cannot be said for 4). And that's just me not going for the deeper problems.

Iv'e never played a sly cooper game before, i'd barely heard of it, downloaded demo last week and completed it, seemed fun, reminded me of crash badicoot style games which i miss, are there anymore like this?

As iv'e ignored what iv'e classed as cutesy games this gen, but i miss them now truth be told, i am a idiot

You can dust your Wii to play the Galaxy games. Then there's also Beyond Good and Evil HD.

And I'd be arsed and say that Sly 2-4 isn't really that much on platforming compared to Sly 1.

Cutesy games lmao.

There are three other Sly games that have released in the past decade. You can try them out in the Sly HD Collection. They're pretty great, though Sly 1 and 2 are usually the favorites, Sly 3 is, from what I gather, mostly seen as a disappointment. Sly Thieves in Time combines the best of all of them and is a pretty "safe" sequel for the series.
