With a bit of searching you could buy a SLI gtx680 for the same price, and get a little more performance.

680 SLI would be less expensive, but that's not what they are targeting with this card. It offers strong compute as well as great frames with a single GPU. It's kind of a middle ground between a workstation card and a gaming card, but with an eye towards enthusiasts (as in, hardware enthusiasts, not gaming).
If you want the best performance for the $, SLI 670s will theoretically be outperforming this if the speculative info from Anandtech is correct.
Man. I've been following this thread and I'm starting to get antsy. My computer still runs a lot of games just fine on my piece of shit GeForce 285, but I've gotten my tax return and I'm really trying to figure out what to do next. SLI 2 680s, go for a Titan, or just wait for the new cards at the end of the year and hope they're comparable to the Titan, but a few hundred cheaper. Decisions, decisions.

What's your monitor like? 1080p? Multi-monitor 1080p? Larger resolutions?
Upgrading to these beasts is very dependent on the monitor situation, imo.

It's hard to resist the urge, sometimes. That's why I'm looking at alternatives, just for the sake of it.
A two-way gtx680 or gtx670 will get me short of the Titan's price tag (with a 10-20% savings rate). So it's either Titan or nothing at all xD

If that's your only goal, you can do it with a cheaper SLI setup, if your PC allows. Or, you can get closer to it than a single Titan can get you, based on what we know atm.

Maybe, not sure of overclock performance yet. If the 50FPS at 1080P graph was true, picking up the other 10FPS with overclock may be possible. Honestly though I feel like going 690 is better now though....
It's currently 1900x1200, but I'm thinking about upgrading. I'll also be doing a ton of downsampling, so I'm not 100% sure yet.
Max AA/detail isn't something that everyone wants/needs.
I'll lower just about any setting until I'm having consistent 8.3ms frametimes. The illusion of motion at that frame rate is much more visually impressive to me than less jaggies or depth of field.
Agreed. There was some type of fix for Borderlands 2 that cut out some of the jaggies but it came with a 10-20 fps hit and during motion it isn't noticeable at all. I've got a 570 now and might upgrade to a 670, then again maybe I'll wait for the 700 series but who knows when that will be out. Not sure if it's worth upgrading yet for a 10-20 fps boost in frame rate.
Switch to the SMAA Injector for Borderlands 2. We did a big tweak guide for the game and that was my favourite technique at the end.

Some of these places have had the card running almost 1200MHz on the core, sounds like there's a ton of headroom.

I have been at work all day, so doing some catch up reading in this thread. As of right now, I think there are 3 of us for sure that are locked in. You, me and Rayge (sorry if I spelled that wrong or am completely off). I think Mkenyon bowed out, but who knows when benches are released. lol
All I know is that they BETTER make that AMAZING looking SLI Bridge available. They never made the 690 one available that was in all the press pictures, but I really hope they make the one they pictured for the TITAN's available. Oh and WATERBLOCKS need to come out for this thing like NOW! If the rumors of Overclocking are true, Water will keep these suckers super cool and super fast.
I was thinking the 7870 would fit without a problem because it was shorter than the 680 and at the time I was sure it was "just" 9.5 inches. I don't dare think how it is to put a 680 in there, I had to push pretty hard against where the PCI brackets go. Doesn't make it better when the web page says 10 inches while the box says 9.8 on some sides and on one side 9.5 inches as max length ^^
Aren't rejects usually not that good? Don't the 7850 and 7950 overclock a bit worse than the 7870 and 7970 in general? Not thinking about how much over stock, but how high they overclock compared to their big, fully unlocked brother.

Normally yes but you have to remember, the K20 are insanely expensive professional cards that require the highest binning and quality. So a 'reject' chip for a card like that could still be of much higher quality than say, a normal 680 chip.
Then again, it's all speculation for my part with the reject chips and whatnot.

At the link below, there is an unboxing video of the Geforce Titan. It sounds like it is German, but it does show him modifying the Voltage and overclocking the Titan to achieve 1123 Mhz on the Core using the new Precision X Software.

Just waiting for a response back from Lutro0-Customs about what pins I need to buy for sleeving a Seasonic Platinum and it's time to start purchasing. Getting 2 of these with EK waterblocks. Still haven't decided on a damn monitor. It will be the last thing I buy. Waiting on 1080@120hz refreshes Samsung, but I will go with ASUS' 144hz monitor if nothing comes around by then.
