It's very irritating. It's almost as if people want next-gen to fail so they can justify their PC GPU's.

It's better to keep expectations in check than to go 100% hypetrain mode and get assfucked by the companies.

But so far PS4 looks so much more desireable than PS3 ever was. Sony's whole attidude is better now that devs don't have a mountain to climb with the hardware and I don't need two jobs to afford the console.

Nah, I am pretty sure it is all geometry, certainly the wall is and it extends beyond the city, and you can see aliasing in the buildings in the sea.

People mean different things with skybox it seems. I think some mean the bigger backdrops where you can't traverse. Like this:

ep2-19.jpg

Also you fly through parts of it in the killzone demo.

Late in the game, probably. I'm guessing Gamescom or TGS, which is August and September.

shit, thanks. mp is still my last holdout on this game. they gonna go kz2, kz3, or fullblown cod to capture that early crowd looking for a standard mp to get into.

yeah i thought the same. Breakinglines are weird though.

I even think most of the game will be played in parts of the two different sides of the city

Killzone 4 + Gran Turismo at launch = Day 1 buy

I don't see that happening. But if they do... holy shit they'll sell a lot of consoles. And i'm not even that interested in driving virtual cars in circles, but i can imagine it will be impressive next gen.

I hope, as a Shadow Marshal, there's a lot of stealth in this. Imagine sneaking into the Helghast side, perhaps disguised, and assassinating high value targets or engaging in some sabotage.

I'm guessing Gamescom. That's when they showed off KZ2's MP, it's a European event, and TGS wouldn't be a good platform to show off MP in an FPS given how the genre isn't big over there.

Yeah! Good catch.

Why not a device that causes molecular disentegration, dissolving matter into a billion particles a la the de-rez'ing effect in Tron. Or an imploding singularity, a la the red matter in Star Trek. Limitless possibilities!

I would like to see GG push their imaginations in regards to stuff like this. The railgun is a great start :)

Yup, that would actually make me interested in the game. At least make some weapons stupidly overpowered and glorious to watch. And if their reasoning is that they want to keep bullets in order to stay "real"... District 9 would be a good place to start looking.

Why? 30 FPS exists because it's the LCD. If the hardware is capable then it should aim for a more fluid fps.

The hardware is capable. The hardware has been capable for over 2 decades. It has nothing to do with the hardware not being capable. As soon as you realize the hardware is capable, the sooner I'll stop saying the hardware is capable. Every PS3 game could have run at 1080p/60 from day one. The problem is it would not have looked as good as it they did. And that's the design decision developers make. Will running our game at 1080p/60 be worth the performance impact? And the answer, unsurprisingly is no.

So in summation, the hardware is capable.

The sacrifices for 60fps will always be pronounced. If you think of the shooters this generation that run at 60, it's basically CoD and RAGE, both hideous.

I think 30fps is fine for consoles. The gamepad is kind of a mushy interface, it's not like on PC where 30fps makes mouse look feel utterly sluggish.

RAGE was hideous? Haha.

Well, for what it's worth we've heard from the media that Killzone: Mercenary is heavier than KZ3 and feels a lot closer to KZ2. Different game and all that, but I can see them aiming to be as similar as possible in that regard between Mercenary and Shadow Fall.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww...

Vehicles are a must I think. I enjoyed using the mech on the bigger map on KZ3, kind of sucked on Salamun though. Tanks are glorious in BF3. I'm hoping they've been taking notes from BF3 actually. Mechs plus jet packs plus tanks plus insertion by dropships like MAG had.

Yes, in every way possible. The worst textures and texture streaming I've seen in a long time, pop-in as mentioned and lighting problems. Walk up close to anything and it would look like shit, at a huge distance it just looked mediocre. That game was a turd.

Sorry but you are talking bullshit here. Some textures upclose are shit right. But huge distace view ? Are you mad ? Rage had one of the best distance views in gaming not only because textures were rather high res for such a long view but more important textures usually were different everywhere.

Rage? I thought it looked really good.

In separate linear levels most likely.

I'm holding onto the idea that certain areas of both city's are accessible by means of those blue highways. As I mentioned earlier, it is unlikely of the main character to be globe trotters like Sev and Co. in Killzone3 just from what we know of the story thus far.

It won't be open world like Skyrim but similar in design to the Souls series is my belief.

Graphics are the least of my concern for KZSF.

I expect the game to look good, and it does look damn good.

I'm simply worried about the gameplay. I loved Killzone 2. The campaign was extremely polished. It was very well paced with good set pieces. The lead up to fighting Radec was also one of the best moments in the entire game. However, it concerns me that we will see a Call of Duty clone (set in space) with this game.

It seems a little stupid for GG to fixate the crosshair on the HUD, as opposed to the guns (as in KZ2/KZ3). Also, the HUD looks extremely busy. And what is with 'focus mode' or bullet time? And why does it take 2/3 shots to kill each individual Helghast? Make it more like Halo, where you have enemies of varying strength. Killzone 2 did it well. We had normal infantry Helghast, heavy Helghasts, mini-boss Helghasts etc.

Ya Rage was fucking beautiful. And yes I know the textures looked like ass if you stuck your nose right up to them but for a game to look that good at 60 frames is truly a feat that not nearly enough people give credit for. It's funny how everyone seems to want 60 frames yet any time a game is 60 frames people always want to scrutinize any part of the visuals they can.

For a 60FPS game, Rage looked good, even on the PS3. I didn't have an issue with any of the game's graphics.

You've seen litterally no more than 3-4 minutes of gameplay on an unknown difficulty setting, with godmode turned on. And you're judging how the enemies in the game are?

A bit premature no?

Perhaps, but KZ3 wasn't like KZ2. So I am assuming GG will continue this trend of a watered down COD experience.
