Graphics are the least of my concern for KZSF.

I expect the game to look good, and it does look damn good.

I'm simply worried about the gameplay. I loved Killzone 2. The campaign was extremely polished. It was very well paced with good set pieces. The lead up to fighting Radec was also one of the best moments in the entire game. However, it concerns me that we will see a Call of Duty clone (set in space) with this game.

It seems a little stupid for GG to fixate the crosshair on the HUD, as opposed to the guns (as in KZ2/KZ3). Also, the HUD looks extremely busy. And what is with 'focus mode' or bullet time? And why does it take 2/3 shots to kill each individual Helghast? Make it more like Halo, where you have enemies of varying strength. Killzone 2 did it well. We had normal infantry Helghast, heavy Helghasts, mini-boss Helghasts etc.

Seeing bullet time in a Killzone made me die a little inside. I actually wanted them to go more realistic, not less.

I've got a fantastic idea of KZSF. They need to bring back the hit reactions from KZ2 and take it a level further. A couple of shots in the leg - bam. Immobilise the leg of your foe. Arm? Ditto. Throw in some bullet wounds for good measure!

MGS2/MGS3 were the only games to ever do this.

They should also take cues from Crysis 2 where the gameplay is completely down to the player, where you have the option of approaching the 'battlefield' from multiple avenues, with the option of going guns blazing or with a more stealthy approach. I appreciate this won't always be possible, especially with set pieces, but I think it is a way to improve the game.

The Last of Us :)

I don't think that's automatic. Watching the Jimmy Fallon show it seems you can activate this yourself I guess for getting out of tight situations ala Max Payne. I guess this an option for those folks like Fallon who cant handle the heat :).

I only just noticed that the city cuts off at several points - so there are several layers to it? Unless it's a buggy skybox or something.

These are cliffs.

When he picked up the controller it looked like he'd never played a shooter before.

Looks more like low level fog/steam to me, obscuring the street level.

It honestly shocks me that this is not the norm for games yet. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to do in games tbh, and yet no one does it.

Trust me, it is cliff edge on each red line in the picture quote.

Is anyone here actually watch the video? You can see cliffs and waterfalls everywhere.

It's an incomplete city model that was never intended to be picked over an analyzed from that angle at this point in time.

Maybe but these are deffo cliffs. Watch the video. That's picture easy to confuse because you don't see it in gameplay footage therefore it looks funny that's all.

Pretty much, if you looks at the actual gameplay video, you never see the city from that kind of angle, and will never notice it. Makes you wonder why they released that specific screen however.

That is a great idea and what I'd like to see too.

It shouldn't even exist, it has no logic but to dumb the game down. It's a terrible game mechanic, right down there with rewind in a racing game. That, the bog standard FPS gameplay and the flying on a rope part are just making me more and more skeptical the game is going to be any good.

This is a good and optional feature

I dunno, i'm not opposed to a added skillsets/abilities with functionality similar to those available via the nanosuit in crysis... enter bullet time, enable a shield (like the one deployed by the Helghan enemy in the trailer), cloak... i think that can add to the game.

That said, i will die inside if we get gameplay like COD. I hope GG give us a visceral experience, great animations, bullet hit reaction, physics based ballistics, great sound design, and most important of all, the excellent weapon mechanics (feel) from KZ2... oh and multiplayer fashioned around KZ2.

While i'd love the game to be 60fps... 30fps locked is not a deal breaker (for me).

I want to get into Killzone more. I bought the Trilogy cheap, but the first game just killed it for me. Should I skip it and go to the second game? I'm interested in Shadow Fall, and expect it to be the first game I play on my PS4, now that it's a launch title, but I'm hesitant.

I skipped over the first and jumping in at 2 works just fine.

How is this a skybox?
Hmn, maybe this part kinda is...

Definitely not a skybox, just the design of the city on several plateaus.

You can tell it isn't a skybox because if you look up close at the roofs of the small buildings you can tell where there is geometry and where it's a texture applied to the roof. If it were a skybox it would all look the same, you wouldn't have sharp lines where the geometry was, and it would have been really apparent in motion.

These new pieces of concept art (along with the artist's comment, "Hope soon there will be more pics of this dude") makes me think the game will feature dual campaigns a la Halo 2.

I haven't been following the KZ:SF threads super closely, so please forgive me if these images have already been posted and whether or not the above assumption is already old news (or debunked):

Holy shit, the Helghan city looks awesome!

Vektan side looks like Star was Coruscant
Helghan side looks like Blade Runner/Doom

Edit: just noticed the platform the player is standing on in each image is exactly the same rendering, only mirrored

I am pretty sure those concept arts are renders, using ingame assets just cleaned up and downsampled from a higher res. Asset quality looks identical. Pretty awesome

Not sure if this has been posted (could even be in the OP but I'm lazy).

The 3D artist that made the above renders mentions that the main character is called 'Shadow Marshall'.

I think Shadow Marshall is a title for the ISA elite, special ops assassins. His name is in the trailer when he gets scanned. Logan or something.

WANT! DUAL CAMPAIGN IS A MUST!

A dual campaign actually makes a lot of sense, given that Mercenary has missions for both ISA and Helghast. I expect a lot of features to be shared between Mercenary and Shadow Fall.

Or better yet, 2 full campaigns chosen at the start screen. Play as a helghast or isa for the whole game with missions differing based on which side you are, ie an assassination mission becomes a protection mission and vice versa. Or a mission about sneaking in could become, with a few twists, a mission about evasion. Things like that would be great.

This is not concept art.

KSF with dual campaign and Mercenary weapon loadout ability would be epic!

I want weapon loadouts, character customization, and stealth to be in so badly. Combine that with some more open battles and the ability to climb freely and this will not only look gorgeous but will have a lot more options and replayability than most linear shooters.

So...
1/2 the game play as the Shadow Marshal (w/ slow mo ability)
the other 1/2 play as a helgahn assassin (with cloak ability) as seen in the trailer.

Sounds good to me. Give the ISA and Helghast some differences. Maybe give them different weapon choices but can pick up the other's weapons.

Would be awesome. Each of them has a different target on the opposite side of the wall. Shadow Marshall could be more combat oriented and Helghast could be more stealth oriented.
