God of War: Ascension Launch Trailer

Looks awesome, question though is this game potentially setting up a new arc? Would be cool if this series could continue into PS4 in a meaningful way. Or do you suppose we would get a mainline God of War for that,
but who is left to kill? lol

The more I think about it the more I don't like GOWIII. The lack of adventure aspect that both GOWI&II had made the game less exciting for me, it was just climbing a mountain most of which was dull like the giant cube and Hera's Garden.

Now Ascension gives me the same vibe of the PS2 titles even with its use of colour which I absolutely adore. And I realy like the sound of elemental blades and world weapon system plus exploring Kratos's character, he may be hated by the majority but I reall dig the guy. I'm not going to download the demo because Ive already played the E3 one and MGR will make the wait easier anyway. But I did see this trailer because I couldn't help myself, glad that most of the footage is from the 30 minute gameplay. SSM finally get it because they revealed far too much of GOWIII leading up to release.

These next 3 weeks will fly by thanks to Raiden :D

They certainly aren't, it's just system fatigue really. It's also just a shit trailer, it's just the same as the teaser one with a bunch of story cutscenes intercut.
Isn't that what trailers are most of the time though?
I'm really happy SMS didn't spoiled the whole game like the last time.

Put a bunch of story cutscenes in between bits already shown in the previous trailer? I don't think so, no. Even if they did, I don't think that means anything in terms of it's quality or ability to excite me.

Everything about the way this game has been revealed so far has been bad actually, lots of multiplayer trailers, it debuted with multiplayer footage even. Very disappointing. I'm not saying it won't be good, but I don't think GoW3 was good at all, and so far I don't really have any reason to think this will be.

Just a tease GAF.

Indeed. I just hope they take the series forward. I don't care what they do with it as long as it isn't another prequel.

Me too. I would like one of a few things to happen:

1. A different set of Gods or a different Mythological setting or belief.

2. Kratos is the antagonist and you play as one of his children. Lets face it, he has to have several illegitimate children after getting it on with all those women.

3. A combination of the two where maybe Kratos sends one or more of his children to defeat his rivals, the Gods from a different belief.

There's a lot that can be done to change up the story, setting, and characters. I just hope Sony does it with GOW4.

I wonder how many units this game will push in NA, GoW3 sold 1 million plus copies during the first month. I wonder if the beta will hurt the sales?

I actually liked how they managed the marketing for this game maybe because I really liked the MP, I thought the live action is one of the best I have seen specially for fans of the series, Still I understand if you don't like it.

Just not feeling the hype for this one.

One of the downsides to originally setting it up as a trilogy, and that trilogy having already concluded. I liked the trailer, I have faith in the boss fights, and the game seems promising, but you can't top the Titans and Gods that Kratos took down in 3.

Been playing the game for a little while now - it's really good. Trailer shows a few spoilers though IMO.

When playing through God of War 3 on Hard I was doing fine for the most part, but eventually hit a brick wall with the enemy-filled giant block room... area... thing... (it's been three years, leave me alone :p), which I believe is the final area prior to Zeus, and I've had no desire to go back to the game since. Perhaps that inclination would be there if we were getting an actual sequel rather than yet another prequel, but the high point of the series for me is God of War 2 and at this stage I think it'll take an equally varied, expansive, and, well, epic adventure for the series to pull me in once more.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was looking for from this trailer. The indication that it's a varied and expansive adventure, as 2 was, not seven hours of brown and gold.

Just fired up God of War 3 again. I can't wait to play this.

But I do agree with Mr. Fix above. How can you top Titans climbing Mt. Olympus and Kratos riding their back up there? You can't ...

GOWIII being a conclusion did make it more exciting but tbh as a story Ascension is definitely appealing to me more.

Weird. That's exactly the vibe Im getting from Ascension.

This seems to be the same issue I am having. While the game looks absolutely stunning I can't seem to get very hyped for yet another prequel. One was enough, two was pushing but three damn prequels along with the three main line games? That is a bit much even for someone that loves the games.

Makes the wait to get a new PS3 even harder!

I really hope there is "The LAST OF US" BUNDLE, otherwise the wait will have been worthless.
