God of War: Ascension Launch Trailer

I'm probably one of the few here who would rather see some new multiplayer footage/features. I thought the beta was great and a nice change from most games out right now.

Just learned I'm receiving the review copy of this game tomorrow (or this week) though I'm not hyped. Guess I'm gonna play this one on my HMZ-T1, seeing as it probably have large-scale monsters. And the Image Quality looks sharp.

can someone please post this side by side with deep down? What are santa monica feeding the ps3 with?

:lol

The game is a stunner though, I just hope as a whole, it's better than the demo that came out today. I was relatively disappointed in it.

Are you near the San Francisco Bay Area? I have access to several nice TVs, a 720p-ish projector, etc.

I just really want to try the game :P

I think the guys at Santa Monica Studios said they still have to release the Hades God and Poseidon God trailers so we may see more MP footage before release.

It is but unfortunately the framerate has taken a hit. God of War 3 retail is much smoother than Ascencion demo (which is supposed to be 99.9% complete).

Really? I thought I was hearing the framerate was still relatively smooth like any previous GOW. Interesting.

Collector's Edition... Check
Pre-Order Bonuses... Check
DLC Season Pass (CE)... Check
Rise of the Warrior Goodies.... Almost, 200xp to go!
March 12th, 2013... Hmmm....

I need my 6th God of War Platinum Stat!

Play the demo that came out today. You'll see it drops below 30 at certain points.

The camera is also less than optimal during specific scenes. It's zoomed out way too far on an occasion or two. Hopefully that's just the intro...

It's still smooth. It's just closer to 30 than 60 more of the time than previous games. That's the feeling I get when I play it anyway. We'll see what the DF analysis says about final retail.

To be fair, the new demo is geometrically intense, so it's still plenty impressive when all is said and done.

Zooms out too much? How big is your TV? :P

Unless Ascension contains it, there are still a few things left:

- Hecate, Greek goddess of witches and magic
- Morpheus, only mentioned and played a role in Chains of Olympus but never appeared
- The other two Hekatonchires, although Gyges appeared in the comic book
- Primordials possibly
- A few other Greek myths I can't think of right now

Of course, the way GoW3 ended I dunno if they could push on with any of it, but let's hope so or at least introduce a new pantheon/mythology.

Kratos fights Choas himself.

really? Let's forget that scorpion box stage then.

Haha, I try and forget the whole underground Rubik's Cube nonsense.

I only played on the default difficulty, so I could see how that boss could be a problem on harder ones.

42 Inches.

I never really had a problem with God of War 3 and its camera.

Me neither and I am surprised the camera work was given an OK in its current state, particularly during the first Boss battle. Kratos is very hard to see and the onscreen action becomes a blur.

I agree with you. And it has nothing to do with TV size.
I was joking, because I played the new demo on a 100+ inch screen area this past weekend.

Anyway, GAF, I need your help:

Does anyone have a way for me to get in contact with Sony Santa Monica?

Last year my friends and I made a fake God of War Move "Dear PlayStation" commercial for our short media production course at my film school. I had God of War 3 footage in it but in the wake of Kevin Butler vs Sony we never released it...

I have since gotten GOW:A footage and am going to incorporate it into the commercial, but I would also like to share the ad(s) with SSM to make sure I'm not doing anything they would potentially be against.

Here is the unreleased teaser, for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdtgktG-_zo

Apparently Sony Santa Monica is magic!
How can this game look and feel so incredible!

However, I am truly hoping to play as Shiva in God Of War IV based on Hindu Mythology.
Unless, the religious NO FUN brigade ruins all the fun as usual.

Or go Japanese. Western Okami. Except the paint is all red blood.

Is the demo for PS+ members only? I don't see it anywhere on PS Store :-/

Kratos fights Choas himself.
Well, seeing as he apparently fought and defeated one possible Primordial (Thanatos) there's always the possibility. Of course, it would be a far stretch to actually start battling the very primal forces that created the cosmos in the first place.

the demo was really disappointing.
the new combat feels bad and unnecessary.
from technical point its mind blowing, but after the demo i am not going to buy it day one.
i would get it when the price gets lower.

i could outrage more here but i'm having hard time ti deal with it they broke my favorite series.

That's late; I received my copy last week. Finished the game last weekend.

Oh snap, embargo brokenz.

Can you comment on it anymore or is that all?

The story in Ascension is by far, the deepest and most emotional yet. It is far more varied in locations and story-telling than any previous God of War game (all which hit this bar in their own right). We feel very good about the story overall and are excited to for you to see what happened to Kratos before he became the God of War.

High Five. The MP was an absolute blast..they seemed to be listening to the complaints/suggestions of gamers well too

Well, Kratos could do it...
