In terms of gore it will. Sorry man it's part of the signature for this series, the gore goes hand-in-hand with the way Kratos fights and fits in with the over the top anger he has.

Sorry if you find it annoying, but based on the demo alone, this game won't be an exception.

I dont mind monsters, but the head pulling in 3 was the part that was just not needed. I almost threw up after watching it.

Me too. I would like one of a few things to happen:

1. A different set of Gods or a different Mythological setting or belief.

2. Kratos is the antagonist and you play as one of his children. Lets face it, he has to have several illegitimate children after getting it on with all those women.

3. A combination of the two where maybe Kratos sends one or more of his children to defeat his rivals, the Gods from a different belief.

There's a lot that can be done to change up the story, setting, and characters. I just hope Sony does it with GOW4.

I agree it's a bit excessive, but GoW still looks very 'cartoon-ish'. I do find it amusing the gods have blood and human anatomy as opposed to being spiritual beings. I thought the leg severing was worse than the head pulling, probably because

was a pretty defenseless god in comparison to the others and really seemed to want mercy. If there's any problem I have with the series, it's how utterly remorseless, selfish and cruel Kratos is. He's in many ways more evil than any of the gods themselves.

Yeah I'm sure this won't make any money. Just like that Halo Reach and Halo 4. Just awful business decisions there.

Not capped, but from the 2 demos so far it looks like it's going to be in the 30-40fps range more often than prior games.

However, I am truly hoping to play as Shiva in God Of War IV based on Hindu Mythology.
Unless, the religious NO FUN brigade ruins all the fun as usual.

Yeah I don't think there is a high chance of that. Norse Gods are more likely I think, besides it is in bad taste to include gods from any major modern day religion.

I don't think followers of Hinduism would be very kind to having their gods slain by some brute. If there was still a major religion following the Greek pantheon, I'm sure they would be quite offended by how the series treats it.

Heck, I think GoW is banned from a majority of the Middle East due to the "god slaying" and it's not even in reference to their religion.

I know Action-GAF pours scorn on the GoW series, but I have a good feeling about this one. Outside of the spectacle, there seems to be additional depth in the combat system when I played the demo. Its not DMC, hell not even DmC, but it felt good.


Looking forward to this.

I feel you. Honestly the xbox has been my platform of choice but God of War 2 was my favorite game last gen. After the $599 debacle I said I will get a ps3 when God of War 3 is launched. Remember at that time PS3 launched GOW 2 hadn't been released on PS2. So of course my xbox red rings right around the time CoD 4 comes out so I buy the PS3 early play through GoW again on the PS3 buy the updated hd version the PSP games though GOW started great and finished good. But Man I just can not get it up for this. It's day 1 automatic cuz that's what I do and I'm blessed enough now not to worry about $60 but man I just don't know why I'm not feeling it for this.

I don't know why most are not feeling the game, if there is one thing the franchise does well is remaining consistent. I don't really feel any fatigue but then again I haven't played the prequels and don't intend to so this one will be the first prequel and if MGS3 and DMC3 has taught me anything it's that prequels can be just as good if not better than story continuation games.

I look forward to how SSM reinvents God of War for the PS4 but until then I'm perfectly happy with Acension especially since it delves deeper into Kratos as a human being. I look at it on a system by system basis so I don't see the franchise as being milked either; its been 3 years since the last release, though Kratos has made appearances on a number of non franchise games, my favourite being Everybody's Golf.

Also fuck the Norse Gods. They're everywhere in pop culture now thanks to Avengers. I want SSM to go against the mold and fight Gods we normally don't see often like Egyptian or Lovecraftian.
