I have a couple questions that haven't been asked yet
-Will loadout customizations and stealth options from Mercenary be in Shadow Fall?
-Will you be able to climb up anything within reach or is it just a few scripted areas?

I think it is reasonable to expect that we will be fighting against ISA sometimes on Shadow Falls.

You play as a Shadow Marshal - a top-ranked special forces operative in charge of keeping a delicate balance between the Vektans and the Helghast - a situation you appear to have lost control of.

"The Shadow Marshal is something we first introduced in the first Killzone, and that's the guy who's going to take charge of what's happening in this world," says Shadow Fall's game director, Steven ter Heide.

"There's a series of escalating events that will happen across the game and you need to make sure the cold war stays where it is. As you know these things can become a powder keg ready to explode, so that's sort of the premise where we're coming from with the game," he tells CVG

Shadow Falls is set 30 years after KZ3, the Vektans allowed the Helghast people to migrate after Helghan was destroyed at the end of KZ3.

Would be nice if this opened with a montage video, with the first scene being a closeup of a drop of blood slowly trickling down someones face. The camera pans out to this:

Instant success.

Can someone give me a summary of what happened in KZ3? I saw the big timeline thread but I really just want to know in like two sentences what happened in that game if anyone could be bothered.

Tomorrow, I'll be making a separate thread that'll be a continuation of how to bring the franchise forward besides graphics (and other fps for that matter).

The game needs to innovate and all ideas pertaining to it would be most welcome.

I think Rico must die in-game, by the player hand, and not off camera.

Killzone 2/3 are the only fps games of this gen, where there is big issues with the controls. Now, of course you can argue that the controls are fine; but when so many people have issue with them (including those who enjoyed the games) and it also being the only fps that I can think of where there were so many complaints- there is a problem and I think it is alienating to those who aren't yet fans.

Yup. KZ2 may feel unique and fun for many, but the vast majority of gamers won't ever like it.

Personally I like KZ3 controls. It doesn't feel like CoD or anything else really. KZ2 was a nice change, but still felt clunky in the end.

What do you guys think of the new HGH leader from the trailer? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUZJTjns6Qg

He has a calm and sophisticated voice, I imagine him to look like quite the gentlemen, nowhere near the passion of Visari though

I was much more impressed by that trailer. Gave the game some depth that has been missing form everything I've seen so far.

I really think that is the sort of character Stahl should have been in KZ3 instead of the appalling hammy acting MacDowell brought to the role. I imagined him appearing a man of honour and intelligence who does a secret deal with the ISA to grab power but finally betrays them. Too bad nothing like that eventuated.

You don't play a lot of FPS games do you?

I'm going to skip arguing that the controls were fine, (which I think they were), and I'll just suggest you try PS3 Battlefield 3 without the patches.

Consider that the last patch which finally solved the issue for most people (but not all) was released just a few months ago and that the game was released on 2011. People endured that shit for more than a year.

KZ 2 issues were nothing compared to this.

I'd really like there to be a Killzone game with campaign mode playing as Helghast. I can't be the only one can I?

That would be a great side mission; infiltrate a compound, and execute Rico, who's in a sort of witness protection program. It could be a stealth mission, as a Helgan, but the death blow must come up close and personal.

God I can't wait to see multiplayer. Hopefully around E3.

Edit. And I better be able to play every mode on every map. I hated the maps only
playable on certain modes bullshit in KZ3. What a waste of resources.

You should kill Rico with no fanfare, foreboding, consequence or special circumstances. One enemy in the game should just be Rico, or he could just be a nameless friendly NPC who dies as part of a scritped sequence

Turn him into the insignificant cannon-fodder he deserves to be

Gamespot - What We Crave From Killzone: Shadow Fall

Given that Killzone 3 began as a preemptive ISA strike against the Helghan homeworld, I shared your hope that the next Killzone game would take a more sympathetic view of the Helghast as an oppressed people. Even as I watched the attack unfold in the Shadow Fall stage demo, I hoped that the uncloaked Helghast walking towards the player would reach out his hand and help the player up, revealing that you are playing as a Helghast this time around. But then came the knife in the neck, and then came the trailer with voiceover that sounded like a terrorist manifesto. The arch-villain Helghast are certainly still in effect in Shadow Fall, but I think the setting gives us good reason to hold out hope for a more nuanced narrative.

Never thought of that! It would have been so awesome

Yeah, if anything I was shocked when the saboteur got stabbed. The whole lead up felt like the beginning of HL2 where you're going through security and suddenly the Combine guard reveals he's actually your buddy Barney.

They fixed the controls in KZ3. The high input lag was removed and so were the deadzones. It's as responsive as any Battlefield game.

I must be the only Rico fan in the world. He was awesome in every game.

Truly the life of the ISA.

Nope. Me too. Can not understand the hate and think they should have made him more of an antagonistic dufus as a foil to Sev's character. I think Rico is the only character I ended up still liking by the end of KZ3. Sev went from innocuous in KZ2 to outright devoid of any interesting personality trait in KZ3, yet managed to acquire an ability to make embarrassing corny speeches that made me want to shoot him in the face.

I would love Guerrilla forever if they pull a MGS2 and the whole demo scene was a fake manipulation.

Yes. I think KZ3 is a more enjoyable game to play, simply from a playability perspective but KZ2 still had the better campaign, better enemy hit reactions etc.

I'm playing KZ2 at the moment and I almost want to stop playing because of the shitty controls. And shitty framerate. Good thing that the controls are better in KZ3. Playing shooters on PC really spoiled me I think lol

Is there anything on PC that offers the same weight as KZ2? Genuine question, because it's unique in that respect as far as I know. I know a lot of people hated it, but they're wrong it's my favourite FPS of the current generation.

Pretty sure the frame rate is a consistent 30fps. It's the dead zone and acceleration on the controls that's causing the issue. Do you have precision mode enabled in controls? Just give it a while, and remember, it's not COD or Battlefield. Don't use iron sites a lot. Stick with hip fire.

As a person who dug KZ2's controls, I think Hard Reset on PC comes close to conveying that same weighty feel. I love Hard Reset, it's made by the Painkiller guys and has a fun weapon upgrade system.

Not sure if serious.

KZ2 is a rock solid 30FPS, even during multiplayer.
