PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

In an interview with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe PlayStation Blog manager Fred Dutton (remember him?), SCEE boss Jim Ryan said PS Plus take-up has trebled over the last 12 months - and Sony is keen to keep the momentum up for the release of its next-generation console.

"We're very happy with the service that we've been able to offer with PS Plus," he said.

"It's been really well received - the value is quite extraordinary and the take-up has trebled over the course of the past year.

"We definitely see that as a core part of the way forward. We're not yet in a position to disclose our plans for the future of PlayStation Plus, but there will definitely be a prominent role to play for it in the PlayStation 4 landscape."

They did have that Sports Champion2/Medieval Moves bundle for $29.99 on PSN, I think that might have been for everyone not just Plus though. I got it around Christmas since I had so many young relatives here for a while and they seemed to really like them both.

Yep... a man can dream, huh? The only way I would ever care about a fighting game is if I care about the characters. Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter or DOA do absolutely nothing for me, but I could see myself getting into P4A just because I know the characters. That's why Smash Bros is the only fighting game I've ever taken the time to get good at.

I can't imagine the SRPG being anything other than Disgaea 3, which is fantastic for Vita owners (not me).

I am interested in persona 4 arena, but how a fighter controls can be very hit or miss for me so it would be a decent plus game as I have held off on buying it under fear I would hate it. I believe there is a 1 hour trail on plus though so i could give that a try.

As for the SRPG, while the hint said SRPG for vita I could easily see it just meaning it can play on the vita, and the psp has a ton of SRPGs that it could be so I wouldn't lock in full expectations of disgaea 3 yet. If it is though I really look forward to chatting with people about disgaea 3, I love talking about disgaea but so few people play it that it's hard to get a good conversation going lol.

I quite enjoy Disgaea, I generally just play through the story mode, a lot of the post-game stuff is far too grindy. While I enjoy the game, sometimes I just don't feel like putting the time and effort into it.
 
Just played to the last boss of Vanquish and what an awesome game, but seriously - you're telling me the final stage of the last boss is a series of QTE inputs that punish your failure with a loading screen and then the boredom of repetition?

Why ruin such an awesome game? It's like at that point all the developers went home and let their kids finish the game. Such a let down.

Heh, I'm down! The only game I haven't completely 100%'d was Disgaea 4's trophies, because a lot of them like collecting every item is just silly. But I've gotten every secret character and killed Baal and done pretty much everything there is to do in these games. Anyone that loves Disgaea and Soul Eater is cool in my book.
 
So, if I renew my PS+ now, and don't spend nothing more than the 49,99, will I receive the 10 dollars in April?

I am thinking about renewing my subscription to get the 3 more months promotion, but I'm still not sure about that. The 10 dollars back might be the push that I need to renew.

...though it's possible you'll end up buying something during March anyways =P.

Prepaid subscription cards stack, right? I've got some Game credit on my reward card so I was going to grab another year while they're only £30.

sometimes i feel jealous of european PSN+ members

but then I remember that by the time I get a vita i'll likely have 10-20 vita games to play only for the cost of PS+ itself.
 
Sony is such a tease, I was looking for stuff to spend the $10 I'll be getting back on and I saw Mega Man Legends 2 avatars. Silly me assumed that if the avatar is there, the game should be.

Is anyone else worried about PS+ support for PS3 once PS4 drops? I dont ever get a new console until at least a year after release, and I don't want to pay for PS+ if it only supports PS4.

Interesting question. I bought 1 year of PS+ at Xmas, and someone gave me 1 year as a gift, which I entered yesterday to get the extra 3 months. So now I have PS+ into 2015. LOL!

But yeah, since I have 2+ years of Plus, I hope it continues to support PS3, because I don't plan to get a PS4 for a long time.

im about as worried about that as I would be worried that my cat is going to use the internet to order a shotgun to shoot me with... aka not at all.

Even if the ps4 uses a new plan I don't see ps+ support for the ps3/psv to just be removed at launch especially as there is absolutely no chance that the ps4 will have an instant game collection at launch, as there is no way sony is going to cannibalize the launch game sales with "free" copies, they will do like the vita and wait 6-8 months to add a instant game collection, aka it will likely be announced at E3 2014.

There is little doubt that ps+ will continue in some form (comments today made that clear see top of page), most likely as the middle sub of a 3 sub system (free, ps+, ps world/cloud or something) there is still a lot of unknowns but sony isn't going to just drop support for a highly successful subscription from an install base of around 80-85 mil (ps3 total install base estimation numbers for nov) just because they launched a new console... if sony's past history is anything to go off of they will support the ps3 for at least another 2-3 years if not a bit more beyond that.

You could get a Vita :D

Sony has been pretty good about supporting a console after its successor has launched. I think a year sounds possible but you never know.
 
lol, I wish they told me you get free Resident Evil Directors Cut and Altered Beast. I would have totally missed that if I hadn't have been browsing my download list on the SEN website for whatever reason..

Sony said $49.99 would count in the case of a ps+ subscription, other things at the same price might not.
 
Is Ninja Gaiden Sigma already off the Instant Game collection? It just released less than a month ago, and I went to grab it today... it's not there.

Whats up? When did it disappear?

it was only a month long game, it was replaced by plants vs zombies on the 26th of feb.

My first thought was Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Jeanne D'Arc is another possibility. I'd be happy with either of those, or Disgaea 3.

Unless they have GAIKAI up and running on the PS4 day one, and as a part of PS + allows you to stream older games ( PS3, 2 and 1), i think that they're gonna have to wait until they have a decent library to roll out PS + on the PS4, and even then, i'm pretty sure they'll add it without removing any of the currently supported systems.
 
For EU PS+ Codes

You can create a new account, it takes only 2-3 minutes tops

I have EU PS+ free since November 2012 till July 2013, these one codes have been awesome

Every start of the month I create a new EU account, use code, 30 more days gets tacked on

Wish Eurogamer tells us when these codes expires, so I can mine a few more lol

I just use my Chase Debit Card, which works to activating it

Hell I have activated like 5 GAFfers for PS+ EU or NA by using my card and they got 30 days free lol
