Microsoft making at least four new IPs

A new 3rd person action game could be one of thier IPs? That way they can stop paying Epic for Gears.

Why would they want to do that? Millions of 360 owners are Gears fans, it's been as important at times to the 360 success this gen as Halo.

A new Gears series next gen a few years down the line would be huge.

Is there even a link to accompany the image in the OP? I gotta say, MS fans are really grasping at straws if this is exciting news for them to hear. A single image, with no source, date or name given, vaguely referencing 4 new IPs. It could have been created by a 12 year old and posted on 4chan for all we know. Is there anymore information buried in the thread someplace?

Here. But that's beside the point, even without that we know that Microsoft has at least four new core IPs coming, one from Lionhead, at least one from Rare, one from Black Tusk, and one from Crytek. The OP just serves as an introduction into a more general discussion about the future of Microsoft's first party.

Agreed. I'll believe it when I read it on ps4daily.com

Remember guys, whatever we see at this Microsoft presser isn't representative of anything and will in fact see a noticeable downgrade before release.

What? Oh the Thurway comment that you keep passing off as fact. Even though others told you that MS will give target spec to developers that they will want them to hit.

You don't go from developing on a highest possible settings and then downgrade it - you have the extra power to simulate other items such as the DME's etc. and to be used for debugging.

I think he is being sarcastic.

You don't see how signing a deal that prevents your game from coming to another platform just for the sake of a moneyhat is bad? For gamers I mean.

there is nothing stopping gamers from buying the system the game appears on. that is sort of the point of exclusivity.

I'll never understand why people are SO against buying all the consoles, especially if there are titles on each system worth playing or they're interested in.

See...

I think he is being sarcastic.

Indeed. Perhaps I shouldn't make it so subtle or at least reference the post in question so people don't assume I'm being serious.

I do sincerely hope he clarifies that comment though, will be interesting to see what lies spew forth.

Well maybe you'd get more enlightened discussion if the OP was updated with better information when the first page gives no indication that credible information ever surfaces. It's a bit unrealistic to expect every single person is going to read through 2000 posts before commenting. Just a thought.

There's been a lot of info posted in this thread, I didn't start the thread as it was split off from another topic by a mod, I wasn't even the person who originally found the info presented in the OP. I have said before I don't intend to go through this thread and update the OP with info as it's not something I'm interested in doing, but I have offered to paste in a summary if someone else wants to put it all together, and I've also suggested someone else start up a new thread. Even tried getting the OP swapped over to another member but the mods said it's not possible.

Just use AutoPager, keep scrolling down til you have all pages of the thread open in one tab then Ctrl+F TheOddOne. That'll give you most of the recruitment posts in the thread if someone wants to look/gather them for a more informative op. I was about to attempt it, but I'm leaving the house soon.

Is there any reason why their next game wouldn't be Kinect Sports 3 to show off the supposed new accuracy of Kinect 2?

Because Kinect Sports was passed down to Big Park...
which may have been passed down to another studio (Good Science?)
since Big Park is working on a new character-based IP according to job listings.

Rare was just as involved with KS2 as Bigpark was, if not more.

We know for a fact that they're working on something kinect-related. Taken from Linkedin:
Kinect Engineer (Contractor)

Rare Ltd
January 2013 – Present (3 months)
They could be working on KS3 in addition to whatever all those racing devs are working on. Or it could just be optional kinect support in a completely new title.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Whisper it quietly: Maybe Rare has more than one project on the go. Judging from the tweet we shouldn't have to wait long to find out.

It's just as unrealistic for every single person to jump in a thread as far along as it is and claim that MS fans are 'grasping at straws'. Read the thread and you might be enlightened if not the discussion will be fine regardless.

I questioned it at the time, and still do now.

It's such an odd and nonsensical remark to make. How does such a thing even happen outside of there only being target renders and tech demos?

We've seen RARE have already commented on getting a demo ready, undoubtedly for an event/presser Microsoft have planned, so it throws his entire claim into the realm of utter bs/lies.

If the demo looks a lot better than what was shown at Sony's event then I will start to believe him, but I doubt it.

Reading the last two pages would've been enough for you to see that it wasn't just baseless speculation. Instead you chose to act like a dick.

Now take the MS hat off and look at it objectively. It's a shit thing to do to gamers, and not everyone will buy 2 consoles and/or a gaming PC.

But it's a moot point because it will not happen with CDPR. If they choose not to release on a system it will be because they either can't due to resources, or they'll see something they don't like.

And with that, you have disqualified your entire argument. Pointing out a single company about an industry wide practice makes your agenda very clear and proves you are incapable of an objective discussion.

Get the fuck out of here with your baseless accusation. I made the point that the OP was thin with credible information and that if anything else had came to light that it should updated.

Um, what baseless accusation? You barged in here cockily accusing people of grasping at straws and questioning the validity of the OP just because you couldn't be bothered to verify it in the simplest way possible, by typing in a few words into a search engine. If there's anything baseless in the whole deal, it's your initial assertion.

I don't think any casual gamer would be willing to spend $300+ for it. I imagine they would try to cater to the gamers that make up the majority of early adopters.

Who were Wii's early adopters? What happens if you can get Durango for $99 or $199 paid upfront, accompanied by a subscription contract? The continuation of the Kinect Sports franchise is assured, and Rare will be involved in at least some capacity, the only questions are when and how.

You came into the thread quite combative and derisive for no good reason. There is asking a question nicely and then there is acting like a jackass. This thread has been going on since 2-01-2013, it was split off by a mod and it's now past 40 pages. Do you think if the info in the OP was shit it would have gone on this long?

You could have gone about this so much better.

I came into the thread expecting to see something about what exclusives MS was working on, instead I see an OP with a single vague image, I scroll down and see a bunch of Kinect/FPS posts, and realizing I'm not about to spend 4 hours reading through 2000 posts I ask if there's a relevant link or other information since I didn't find anything in the OP (this is an internet forum isn't it, I can ask questions right?). Instead my "grasping on straws" comment is perceived as mocking by overly sensitive people and I get a bunch of grief for it, with the exception of REMEMBER CITADEL.

Sorry for merely asking a question.

Your first post included, " I gotta say, MS fans are really grasping at straws if this is exciting news for them to hear."

If that's not a deliberate troll attempt without bothering to read, I don't know what is.

Chalk this up to wild speculation, but this might interest some people.

Recently Rare hired this guy, he works as environment artist for them now. Usually to get hired an artist has to do a "art test" in a given time by the company.

In his portfolio, he posted a test:
Interior
Maya, Photoshop, UDK, Crazybump, ZBrush, xnormal
Art Test for an AAA games company. 3 weeks work.

Concept image:

Interior based on concept art. Aimed to complete the overall scene in the time given, rather than spend ages on each individual asset. Modelled, textured and lit everything in the scene...

B) He has not worked for any large company, he just finished school.
C) Could be for a freelance job, but he has noted where he has done it (like art test for Splash Damage)
