Microsoft Studios (MSS) Business Development Team is responsible for working with independent developers and strategic partners that help us create the next blockbuster 1st party franchises and to build the Xbox brand in EMEA. Your goal will be to engage with developers and high-profile content partners and to find companies, concepts, licenses and characters within the EMEA territory that fit into our brand and product portfolio strategy. You will join a team of diverse, dedicated business development experts to contribute significantly to the future of MSS portfolio and success.
Role and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for driving the complete negotiation and evaluation process, including:
*Evaluating concept submissions, content providers, IP holders and other potential partnerships in the connected entertainment sector (games and entertainment);
*Organising pitch meetings;
*Coordinating due diligence;
*Driving internal approval meetings with senior management;
*Successfully negotiating high value deals with complex term structure;
*Driving contract execution.
You will be working with the product teams to drive the evaluation process; the finance and marketing teams to integrate the P&Ls; and MSS legal group to negotiate the contracts. Youll need to be able to absorb the issues, rhythms, and product opportunities from all parts of MSS, especially with our production teams, and combine them to create successful partnerships.
Skills/Requirements
We are looking for an individual that is passionate and knowledgeable about interactive entertainment - and with a global perspective. You are expected to have a very strong background in negotiation and excellent business acumen.
You must have the ability to engage at both senior executive and innovation startup levels. Knowledge of licensing arrangements will be essential as is proven experience in evolving business models in the gaming and/or entertainment sectors. Like our colleagues throughout Microsoft, you should have demonstrated strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a superior drive for results. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of deal negotiation and business development experience in the entertainment, digital or gaming industry. An MBA and previous management experience would also be an advantage.
