I think eSports and pro gaming is absolutely dreadful. I fucking hate it and anyone who calls themself a pro gamer. It makes me sick.
The community, as a whole, takes itself too seriously. So much, to the point where it's obvious that people are trying too hard to get others to respect them. But in the end, the whole thing just makes it look like a bunch of losers and douche bags who want to make themselves feel better because they can whoop your ass in a video game. They've failed in the real world, but they can completely own you in the game world. OH SHIT SON!
The personalities and the "top players" simply irritate me. It makes gaming just look like one big joke. Like..this is the pinnacle of our hobby. This shit is what we've all aspired to be. This is what we want the world to know about what we do....Yeah...ok.
Basically, it's the overbearing bravado and ego that completely turns me off. You're not an athlete, motherfucker. I don't give a shit how good you are at Starcraft, League or Street Fighter. Sure, I do like seeing talented players showing off their skills and expertise. What I don't like is the shitty attitudes that come along with it and the image they project on everyone else who plays game. If people in pro gaming (and gurl gamerz....oh sweet Jesus...) weren't complete assholes and took gaming so seriously (I mean come on...they really are JUST games), I'd probably feel different. If it was more refined and the actual players didn't look like people I'd see at Hot Topic or an Everest University ad, then maybe I wouldn't have so much venom. I just...can't though...not the way it is now.
