Valve should be throwing Sim City 4 all over the front of their store page this week.
Damn. So the phrase "you can request a refund" is just corporate speak for "you can complain to us but we are not obliged to comply with a refund"?
Is it actually worth it to fix this stuff though? The rush lasts a week and then it's normal capacity.
It always happens.

Holy shit this is funny, in a very sad way.
Pretty sure everyone waived that right when they agreed to the Origin TOS (although I think that is bullshit and would hope it didn't hold up in court).
You could do a lot worse. This episode got me thinking: I may buy SimCity 4 Deluxe on Steam for 20 USD...

Who plays a game at launch anyway??? The game is down, so the only people who try to play the game now are sadists who have nothing better to do than complain about the hard work of the poor people at Maxis. MMOs have downtime all the time (WoW at least once a week and that launched in 2004!!!) and with the powerful social features in SimCity, it holds up to the best of MMOs IMO!!!

I imagine Gabe sitting back in his chair right now smoking a Cuban cigar with a shit eating grin on his face.
Hey EA. If you're going to take a swing at the king...don't miss

I remember some sites posting that EA is offering refunds, is that not true? Sucks ass if they really wont refund people for this shit.
I don't know if they have built any servers for this. Ever since the game has been out I am having trouble logging in or using any of the online features of my Sims 3 games. Are they sharing servers or something; is anyone else having problems logging into Sims 3?Well yeah thats why they don't just build 100 servers for launch day. Because in 2 weeks only 10 of those servers will being used. Still sucks though.
thanks gaf for informing me about this bollicksed dickcheese of a game
It would probably be in their best interest not to burn bridges with potential partners.

Probably poor communication among their customer service.

You have too many servers.
You should remove some to save on maintenance.
You mean the one that has already stopped putting their games on Steam?
Don't get the reference, can anyone help me with it?
Man, it sucks having a long day and just wanting to come home and play a game I just got only to be encountered by these dumb fucking queues for a game I want to play by myself. Jesus christ.
They still have past games on Steam, and they still publish games on Steam.
Crysis 2 and Sims 3 came to Steam fairly recently.
Yup. I've actually been told all sorts of nasty shit in my experience over things I had no control over and you have to remain calm and friendly. So yeah, the CS people are pretty much doing their job but at the same time there's no way I can blame anyone out there for being enraged over this. My suggestion is to anyone calling or writing in, if you don't get your demands met for whatever it may be (refund, etc), escalate it. Ask to speak to a supervisor/team leader/OM whatever. Once you've asked the CS for this, more than likely they will have to transfer you. You still may not get anywhere, but at least you'll be talking to someone with a bit more experience and maybe power. You know, I'm not a huge fan of EA but I feel so bad for those customer service people. People getting all angry at them for some policy they have no control over.
99% of the people in this thread are going to get the next EA game, continue to support this shit and complain anyway
Don't get the reference, can anyone help me with it?
You guys know none of this QQing will matter in a week once the initial stress on the servers is gone? Happens with EVERY SINGLE PERSISTENT ONLINE GAME. EVER.

Looks like it's good to wait on buying big games that require an internet connection. An hour of "Error 34" at Diablo III's launch was enough to teach me.
I remember him screaming at me when I cut the subway budget, despite my city not having a single subway track. Its from SimCity 2000.
You have little city managers popping up every once in a while to help you with your city.
One common one is 'you have too many roads, you should remove some to save on maintenance'
That was the last SimCity game I played and I still remember that guy and his pop ups.
EA's laughable policies were red flags oh... About the time Dragon Age and mass Effect 2 launched.
I experienced them firsthand and they are the last EA games I will ever buy.
Glad to see more people are being exposed to their anti consumer bs. Hope more folks vote with their wallets and stop supporting this kind of garbage.

Instead, much like D3, the much larger and more important complaints about the core game itself will overtake it.
No. That's absurd. I only got this because my love for SimCity outweighs my complete disdain for EA. I generally avoid EA developed products like the plague.99% of the people in this thread are going to get the next EA game, continue to support this shit and complain anyway

Can't wait for digital the future
I don't get how this works. When software becomes downloadable you suddenly don't have the right to have a faulty copy repaired, replaced, refunded or otherwise compensated for because...?What is your refund policy for PC digital downloads?
Unfortunately, EA does not offer refunds on any products downloaded through Origin. EA reserves the right, however, to offer refunds under exceptional circumstances at its sole discretion.

Hey all, after going through this thread (and the many similar ones), let me first of all apologize to each and every one of you; as gamers ourselves, we absolutely appreciate how aggravating it is to sit there and not be able to play. So yes, we are very sorry for the delay, and I just hope that once you have started playing, you can enjoy the game itself its fullest, despite this experience!
Let me address a few more points for you all:
1.) Pre-Loads: We agree, pre-loads are very important, which is why we usually offer them (as we did for all of our last big releases like Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3). This didn't come together for SimCity unfortunately, for which I again apologize.
2.) Communciation: As they have a far larger outreach than the forums, we tend to use our social media channels like facebook.com/origininsider and @OriginInsider (general news) as well as @OriginStatus (outage and maintenance news) to keep you up-to-date on any issues.
3.) Refunds: If you regrettably feel that we left you down, you can of course request a refund for your order at http://help.origin.com/contact-us , though we are currently still in the process of resolving this issue.
If you have any further questions, I will keep a close eye on this thread.
