We heard because silicon knights were actually making it, sk no longer have any staff (except maybe dyack and the cleaner)
so why is Nintendo extending the TradeMark? I know about the whole story..

Yeah they probably moved the development to another company, or lend people to Silicon Knights (If they are still there that is).
so why is Nintendo extending the TradeMark? I know about the whole story..
:lol
In case that's too terse for you, I believe the primary appeal of the game is its writing and story. As I understand, it also makes a commentary on a facet of the industry, but I won't spoil it.

FIFTH EXTENSION - GRANTED

Nintendo asked for the extension?
You've missed out on so much gaming bliss. Why get a Wii U instead of a PS3 at this point in time?
Is it worth it?
I have had to answer this same question a lot around here since November.
Your question may sound reasonable but who said I would have enjoyed a PS3 experience for my money?
I think people assume Nintendo fans are fools for not having the same tastes as them or assume a one console owner is not a gamer. They have not earned that status.
Still why would anyone come in a Nintendo thread and tell me I made a poor choice though? Like I said I have seen the question before so it is not for you alone I am making this statement.
But I ask WTF do they know about my life and how I live? I don't enjoy peer pressure to make choices for me even for a hobby. What I enjoy may not be for you. :/
I am on GAF because I love Gaming and Nintendo has been a major part of that experience for me.
I wish I had more choices for my hobby but in the end it comes down to money. I don't own a PS3 or 360 for the same reasons I don't own an iPhone. Can't afford the upkeep to feed the platforms be it monthly fees or software, it is that simple. Owning it all has less to do about choices or even the purpose of my hobby.
I would waste money on something that has more to do with status in this community, to give me the image of a core gamer in the eyes of my peers. But that purchase would have nothing to do with the bliss you are talking about, that bliss for me has always been a really good Nintendo IP that gave me some escape from my daily life. That is meaning of a hobby. I am a fan because I am here for the love of the hobby, not the status of what I own. I can't afford it.
Right now I'm going to cut down on my gaming purchase habits to save for my next macbook pro
You could post the same fanboy question and ask why not a PC? The answer would be the same I prefer the Apple OS experience as I do love my Nintendo IP habits.
In the end I have already spent enough on Wii U software that would have gotten me both a PS3 and 360. The result is I have a nice backlog here that I am enjoying and that Nintendo IP is yet to come.
Not saying I could not have found bliss on PS3 just saying my money is Very Limit so I spent it on what will deliver that experience.
I was going to get a PS4 but I really need this new mac so by this time in October I will be ready after my new laptop purchase to jump in Next Gen. I hope, but after saving and spending for that Mac I could very easily end up Wii U only next year, again wish I had the Money for more choices.
I never had the money it takes to support a multiplatform hobby so I made ONE choice each generation and focus on that, I do miss out but it is not like I had the money for every hyped game. So if I ever PORT BEG it would be to save money not because I am a fan of one Company.
We should not expect everyone to spend money for the sake of what we think is hot and cool some people are poor and food is more important than the status among our peers. I spend on what I know will make me happy, I had a blast with my Wii U so far and it has been a very expensive party. I made the right choice for me
My choices has less to do with Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft, it is about me, my life my money.
Your hobby should be about you.
I own a Wii U I am in this thread to find out what is coming that I may want to put some funds aside for. /END
If we get Mario, Mario Kart, WW HD and a Retro Studios game that'll go a long way to washing the bad taste out of my mouth.

Really sucks that people even feel like they have to write up a long post defending their purchasing decisions.
There was some other GAFfer who was talking about buying a Wii U recently, and I was pretty bummed to see him getting bombarded with hostility for it. Why should ANYONE have to defend their own personal choices on an Internet forum? It's crazy.

Curious as to how well Spider-man has done. It's on the WaraWara/Mii plaza now. Haven't had time to play any console in the last few days so just noticed it today. It also makes me wonder what is the threshold for a game to reach the plaza and to stay there.
Someone want to make a thread reminding everyone that we can just be friends?
PS3 owners stop criticizing and belittling Wii U owners, and Wii U owners will go on not criticizing and belittling anyone else like they always have.![]()
As I wrote a while ago, it's possible Nintendo acquired or founded a new studio in the US or Europe in 2011 or 2012, as they listed one unspecified western subsidiary in their 2012 financial report that wasn't in the 2011 report. If that subsidiary is indeed a new development studio, we might find out who it is and what they're up to at this E3 - could be another 2013 game.
Also, I mentioned a couple of days ago that NERD is seemingly doing engine R&D these days, having hired several experts in the field starting in early 2012. That could certainly be general, company wide R&D, or it could be related to the former. A new studio in France, with some devs working on NERD's ticket?
Judging by their concerns, Europe is probably the place to be for them. We don't have that hire & fire mentality here, and people usually stay with the same employer for years, as they'd lose benefits otherwise. Lots of talented devs in Europe, too.I hope so, that is one thing I wish Nintendo would do. Expand in the west. I understand the whole talent leak stuff, but that just means they should be more careful regarding who to hire and how to operate.

You're not exactly above the 'vile' fray, are you?Because a huge faction of GAF have decided that they are the "real" gamers, and anyone who isn't a 3rd party humping, tech cumming, Press X to not die gamer isn't a real gamer and that those people must be mocked and made a mockery of because they shame the hobby or some other bullshit.
It's getting really vile these days.
Any such studio would probably still report directly to NCL. NERD itself is a subsidiary of NCL, not NoE. And one thing I've noticed is that two or three of the engine guys NERD hired, including the project lead, actually speak Japanese - which means they can work closely with the teams in Kyoto. So that would probably hint at company wide R&D.It also seems like NCL gives NOE more free reign over decisions compared to NOA. I know it is a loose correlation, but I could see them making NOE bigger for that reason, they are going to expand in Europe.

That's really narrow minded. It's honestly no better than 'Nintendo consoles only have Mario games'. Apart from the fact that the games you describe make up a fraction of the library, you're totally overlooking XBLA & PSN. That's the kind of lack of perspective that I feel results from a steadfast adherence to a single console manufacturer.meh, I was very content with Wii x DS and some indie titles on PC this gen. Few games I was interested in on other consoles I've played elsewhere and they were mostly disappointing (Resident Evil 5). The mainstream has simply become terribly boring and dumbed down on the HD consoles, now that the Wii U got some ports I still don't give a flying fuck about these cinematic anti-games and the likes. Buying trash like Darksiders 2 because it was under 20 last year just confirmed that I haven't missed much.
I will get a late PS3 this year, but after a whole gen there really aren't that much more than 10 games on that thing that interest me and if it wasn't for improved EU PS1 classics last year I would still hesitate. Meanwhile, the Nintendo machines this gen mostly got the experimental titles (still fullfledged retail games) in the vein of the PS2 days I'm interested in and probably Nintendos strongest 1st party output since the SNES. Which is why it hurts that Wii U looks so dreadful right now.
Mobiclip was a middleware company and they had something Nintendo needed. Comparing them to Hudson makes no sense. They brought something entirely different to the table.Still find it lame that they bought Mobiclip, a middleware(?) team, and not more deserving, very helpful to their line-up dev teams like the late Hudson (rectified by them being brought to the risen from the ashes ND Cube), or buying IPs like Banjo or Bomberman *sniff*.
What's up with Nintendo at least being antsy about IP acquisition? I know they have a fuckton of IPs they don't even touch (F-Zero...), but Bomberman and Banjo are very well known to the core Nintendo audience being mascots themselves, and especially Banjo were synonymous with Nintendo platforms and even the company to an extent (extremely so with Banjo).
Please start spending those Wii dollars properly Nintendo, rescue those IPs.![]()

And Nintendo doesn't believe in acquiring IP to begin with. They didn't give a shit about Monolith's IPs, either. They only care about talent.
I think alot nintendo fans are going tthrough what we ps3 fans went through back in 2007.
It's siege mentality. Deja vu it seems.
If sony turned around the fortunes of the ps3 i am sure nintendo can as well
I think the reason that 'Nintendo only' gamers raise eyebrows on a games forum is because it's like being a 'pulled pork only' diner on a food forum. The fact is that anyone going single platform only (especially Nintendo) has missed out on a humongous number of phenomenal gaming experiences, many of which are considered amongst the greatest the medium has to offer. When a multi-format gamer starts to mentally list the titles that have never appeared on a single given format, it can quickly lead to incredulity that an enthusiast of the medium has never experienced any of those titles.
Having said that, nobody should feel 'forced' to defend their preferences and the incredulity I described above is probably best kept to oneself.

Yeah, that's certainly an odd one. No idea what happened there, or why they bought it. I guess it was part of something bigger, related to the many other Nintendo/ KoeiTecmo collaborations. Part of a package deal or something. You say they don't believe in acquiring IPs though they have acquired project zero
