Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Random question for all you Wii U people. Is there anyway to run audio through the HDMI when headphones are hooked into the gamepad? (much like play through both headset and speakers on the X360 option)

Yeah, I read so. Do you guys thinks Wario Shake Dimension / Shake it is worth it?

Depends on the price, but it's a pretty fun 2D platformer with great art. Not as good as the Wii's best 2D platformers (DKCR, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Rayman Origins...), but still worth it if you enjoy this type of games.

Picked up a WiiU at Gamestop today. Just want to say thanks to those who suggested grabbing a deluxe!

So far the system seems really cool (TV remote control, the GamePad screen) and looking forward to spending more time with it.

Whoa, Wii U and 3DS MonHun, you're going to be the Monster Hunting master.

April Update! Believe!

Edit: Speaking of, we should put together a thread for pre/post April wiiU patch loading times.

if anyone wants to do it it might be an idea to do the pre patch times now as april is only a week or so away andit wouldnt be unheard of for ninty to spring the patch on us early

IMO it should be done once they have nailed down the date. As long as it is done before the patch is released so that people remember to actually record the pre-update times.

We'll have to come up with some kind of control. Is the loading times different between first load up and the second and third?

Have we heard anything else about a universal account system being implemented, or ha it fallen by the wayside?

I don't think this was a "we're going to patch the system soon so you can use one account on multiple Wii U systems" thing. It was more of a "future hardware that we design will use the same account" thing.

Do you guys think it's safe to put this in a cabinet and play it with the doors open? It's not tightly enclosed. Just not sure about how good or bad it is. It's just the bottom of a TV stand on a shelf with a back wall that has a door which I would keep open when playing. Safe?

Very happy with the Wii U. Downloading Lego City but it is taking forever.
I have a PS3 and I am also happy with it. Great games on the cheap now.
Next month I will get a decent PC for gaming just for the steam sales. Also for next gen, going to pass on the PS4 for now, will get it at the middle of the generation if it is worth it.

Well, thanks to the EA sale I'll be getting my first Wii U game since launch. Anybody else pull the trigger on the Most Wanted U deal for $30?

Well mines in a tv table (as is my ps3). The back of the shelf is open but almost against the wall and the front is open all the time. Mines been fine, as has my ps3 (which is old). Never hear a sound from my Wiiu except the disc drive & never really get any lock ups (1 in 3 months).

I'd say it's probably fine as long as there's room either side of the console (intake vents) and the back isn't pressed against anything. It's not ideal if the back of the cabinet is closed though as that's where the exhaust vent is...

That's exactly my dilemma too. I want digital, not retail. It's too bad that EA didn't provide $29.99 eShop download codes or something.

Same for me, so a little bit of patience will do fine. Hope to see it lower later on the eshop, if not, then it is a no go for me.

I have a backlog in the meantime, and downloading Lego City U, so that should keep me busy until I see it lower on the eshop.

GAF, what do I do? I just spent two hours on a new Miiverse drawing and when I clicked "OK" to submit it, it disappeared. But it still shows the completed drawing when I start editing it again, I just fear that if I submit the drawing in its current state it won't show up. :(

EDIT: Clicked OK again, the drawing is still missing. What the hell am I supposed to do in a situation like this?

Hey guys how do you like my... WII U FROZE WHEN I CLICKED SUBMIT. Fuck this company, the Wii U deserves to fail. They can't even code their own network properly. So no, I'm not satisfied. Iwata is one of the worst CEOs in consumer electronics history.

I shouldn't have to relax, because this shouldn't be happening. It shouldn't take people EIGHTEEN HOURS to install a game. Nintendo still has the best developers around, but shit like this really aggravates me, and I know I'm not alone. Their online infrastructure is archaic and borderline unusable.

Hopefully by the time I pick one up, most of this shit will be ironed out. I agree, they take a step forward, and yet so many back.

Hello everyone, future Wii U owner here.

Does anyone know if it's generally okay to buy a Wii U from one of the third-party sellers on Amazon? I have $250 in gift cards so I plan on getting one there. How trustworthy are they --or how much of a hassle am I risking by buying from them?

so much for the title of the thread smh

I haven't bought systems from third party Amazon sellers, but I've bought games. It's generally been a solid experience.

One time though I got the PAL version of a DS game which was dumb, but thank goodness for that region-free DS right?

Just make sure you're buying from a reputable dealer, check to see WHERE they are located, and just carefully inspect the item's listing so you're not getting the wrong thing.

My satisfaction with the Wii U = low.

I had high hopes for the system but imho Nintendo have failed again to deliver.

I can't see it getting significant 3rd party publisher or developer support. Everything to date has suggested other wise.

The Wii U Pad while cool is something i don't think the console needed, or will improve its chances of succeeding commercially. It's not as radical as the Wiimote, and its also significantly more expensive to manufacture. I think the money Nintendo spend both on R&D and manufacturing the Pad could have been better invested into aspects like beefing up the technical power of the system, better online services, more developed OS, or even money invested into securing 3rd party titles. I don't think the Pad is good value for money for Nintendo.

Technically i'm only disapointed. While we no doubt haven't seen the Wii U's full potential, it could have been a lot more power for no or very little added cost. 2GB of RAM on a 64bit bus, please. GPU on the lowest end of the performance scale for modern architecture, seriously. A CPU that by all accounts performs worse in some key areas vs Xenon and Cell. My god.

Alright thanks for the input. I'm going to choose the ones that are fulfilled by Amazon, so I can contact Amazon directly if issues come up. It's too bad Amazon doesn't sell any Nintendo systems anymore since I bought my launch 3DS from them.

There isn't any Wii U Dissatisfaction Thread so this is the only place regarding owner's satisfaction (or lack there-of), so it's not just going to a be a circle jerk for Nintendo's new console. Considering there's none of Nintendo's major "launch line up" released 5 months out from launch (apart from Lego City but that doesn't interest the average early adopter sort of folk) and there are still a bunch of the hardware and software hiccups it's not surprised there's at least some dislike for the machine so far.

ok so then they need to make a Wii U Dissatisfaction thread (which is pretty much every thread in Gaming Discussion) i'm sry you can stomach people that actually like the Wii U.

Seems like you can't stomach that people might not like the Wii U - this is the "Wii U Statisfaction thread": This title doesn't imply that only positive comments are covered.

The Wii U is an ill conceived and badly executed system, I greatly regret buying into the launch hype.

Yes, you've reminded this forum constantly of your dislike of the Wii u for a while now.

Here you go. This was made before this thread ever existed.

I mean an active thread. I was responding to something along the lines of "why are there negative posts in here". No one is going to search for that unless they are raging or something. If the average person sees this thread on the first page (which is fairly active) they're probably just going to post in here because they aren't actively searching out a buyers remorse thread on Google. It's the same reasons why the Vita "Game and Services" thread and the "3DS is a powerhouse for years to come" threads have much broader discussions and are pretty much OT threads for their respective systems.
