I love being able to play a video and then carry the GamePad around the house while I do chores. Or flick a video up onto the TV and use the GamePad to surf the internet. The browser really is great.I spent a couple hours on youtube last night. The Wii U browser works so well with youtube that is has become my favourite tool to watch longer videos.
Last night, it was all of Kristen Bell's appearances on Craig Ferguson. So good.

I never watched so muh YouTube before I got my Wii U. I recently discovered JonTron and have been watching his videos on my TV while reading GAF on the gamepad. It works way better than it should.I love being able to play a video and then carry the GamePad around the house while I do chores. That's another surprisingly good one. It's also yet another aspect of the Wii U that sounds completely unimpressive on paper but is just fun to use in practice. I don't know how Nintendo can market this stuff better, but they're definitely doing it wrong.Amazing how bad the youtube app is in comparison.
Btw did you try wii street u?
I think thats a really great app.

Wii Street U managed to convince my parents that the Wii U is an amazing console and they'd consider getting it just for that

Should I grab the Starter or Deluxe pack if I'm buying a WiiU just for Monster Hunter?
Should I grab the Starter or Deluxe pack if I'm buying a WiiU just for Monster Hunter?
I kind of want to use the $50 (saved if i get the starter)to buy the Pro Controller since I don't think the accessories seem all that useful for me, but at the same time I feel like I should just stick to the GamePad for the novelty of the second screen.

After the updating hassle I got to play New Super Mario Bros. Wii U and had a ton of fun. Overall the system made a really good impression, even the system load times weren't as bad as I was expecting (still too long though so the summer update is welcome).
Can someone really short explain to me what the different memories are for? Meaning the system memory, SD card slot and possibly an external hard drive via usb. Can I use all of them for the same stuff or have they different uses? What do you guys recommend, just go with an external hdd?
SD Cards are for Wii Mode. I don't think you can use them for Wii U storage. The internal storage and USB HDD are used for games, patches, saves.
I see, thanks!
But the sd card is not required to play Wii games, right?

My parents said similar. Then again, the first thing they said when I got the console was "Can you access Google Earth on it?"

It made my parents go apeshit at my brother. The images of our house are from 2008, when my mum had the garden quite beautiful... my brother has turned it into a building site now, stores all of his brick and materials there.
Everyone said Deluxe but I disagree. If you don't care about Nintendo Land (but you should. It's amazing) then go for the Basic. I would say only go for the Deluxe if you want NL or just need that black console. So what do you get with the Deluxe? Charging cradle: I just never unplug my gamepad because I have an outlet next to the couch. Vertical stand bracket things: I bought them from Nintendo for $3. 10% back for Digital Downloads for a year: good but you would need to buy $500 worth of games to make it worth it, which I doubt I would do. An extra 24gb: 32gb is still small (Lego City is 22gigs!) so I was planning on getting an external HDD anyway.Should I grab the Starter or Deluxe pack if I'm buying a WiiU just for Monster Hunter?

In my region Nintendo Land wasn't included, so for me saving $50 and getting the Basic allowed me to get NL. But if I lived in NA or anywhere else really, I would have gotten the Deluxe with NL.

EA is finished. They'll be selling off their studios by the end of next gen.
It's too bad. I was really looking forward to microtransactions.
It's possible... Looking back at last gen, who'd have thought that both Midway and THQ would be gone? I don't mean looking back in hindsight... In 2004 or 2005, did you think that they'd be gone now?if you believe that you're kidding yourself. EA isn't going anywhere.

Poor business/anti-consumer decisions tend to have a snowball effect. Who knows? Maybe not close their doors, more like become a shell of their former selves surviving on their licensed games. (like Madden)It's early enough that they could correct their course(abandon their current DRM plans), but I wouldn't count on it...
Opinion, obviously.
I dunno about weeks, but it'd make survival difficult, definitely.if they somehow lost their nfl and fifa licences they'd be bankrupt within weeks
Wait, so it's not 10% back? It's just $5 per game? If you buy a $60 game you only get $5? Still, you'd have to buy 10 games to make up for the $50 you spent on the Deluxe. Since the Japanese Deluxe doesn't come with a game, and costs an extra $50, that wasn't worth it to me. I wouldn't have been able buy enough games in time.I don't get this.
If you buy a full priced 59.99 game, you get a $5 coupon. Even if you use that coupon on your next 59.99 game, you still get a $5 coupon. Plus you get points for everything you buy on the eShop, so the cheaper games you get will help towards getting coupon codes. Also you don't have to use them as soon as you get them - you can save them. As I mentioned in the LCU thread, I was able to get that game for $15 off, which still gives me a $5 coupon code which I can use another time.
That seems worth it to me.

So is a 500gb.hdd enough for the lifespan of the WiiU. I really only plan on buying exclusives. I'm sitting atty 390gb now on my hdd with about 10 games.
Bought a Wii U yesterday! Didn't buy any games, but I got the Deluxe Set with Nintendo Land. Loving it so far. Why aren't developers supporting this? My mind reels with game play possibilities. I just can't understand why there is no support for this system. I just hope the games come in time. It'd be a real shame if this thing sells worse than the GameCube![]()
Oh OK. Definitely worth it for Nintendo Land though. I had to buy it separately.its 10% in america, 8% in the uk

Oh OK. Thanks for explaining.A full price game is $59.99. You get 599 points. 500 points gives you a $5 code. You still get the full compliment of points even if you used a code to help pay for it.
Probably asked many times before but what Wii games, besides SMG and DKCR, are worth it and do look great on WiiU. Any recommendations?
Sin and Punishment 2, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess. I haven't played many of my games on the Wii U but overall I'd suggest those games. Xenoblade Chronicles if you can ge your hands on it as well as The Last Story if you are into RPGs. Dawn of Discovery is very pretty I felt. The Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles and it's sequel look great but their' rail shooters. Can't go wrong with Kirby Epic Yarn and Metroid Prime 3. Sonic Colors looks great as well.
They look great already but remember the Wii U doesn't upscale anything. Perhaps makes things look sharper since you are using HDMI instead of component cables the Wii used which make the games look better then composite cables. There is a jump between the composite and component but not sure if there is a real noticeable one between component and hdmi when ti comes to Wii games. .

Both Zelda's if you haven't played them. I assume you are also including SMG2. Metroid Prime 3 was pretty good (the movement with the pointer controls really were amazing and for some reason never duplicated on the system afterward). I know GAF doesn't really like Other M but I thought it was pretty fun. Xenoblade and The Last Story are must's if you are into JRPG's at all.
If you like playing local multiplayer, Smash Bros Brawl is a must. I would probably hold off on the Mario Kart Wii game since it wasn't great and a brand new one seems right around the corner.

Obviously Xenoblade (if you can find it). Muramasa, Red Steel 2, and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor are all pretty great (and cheap!).
Thanks! Never played Red Steel, but it's quite cheap indeed.
