Wii U Satisfaction Thread

I got my first Wii U last night and, aside from around two hours total of updates (system, mario, netflix etc) I had a great time with it. Of seven hours less than one involved acually playing games; I mucked around with the Street View thing and spent an extraordinary amount of time on Miiverse. It's so adorable. Tried Wii Chat with my cousin too and I was reasonably impressed with the quality (and neon doodling).

I only have Nintendoland and Mario at the moment though I intend to pick up Lego City. The whole machine purchase is basically in anticipation of The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2 and the inevitable amazing first party stuff down the line.

I know TVii isn't there yet, but what exactly is it going to be?

TVii is there. If you're in the US or Canada.

A family with 5 young children who all have access to the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. Most played console by the children is a no contest really...... The Wii U hands down (other then the odd session of Plants vs Zombies or Rayman on the PS3).

Favorite games are Nintendoland and Mario. I have purchased Lego City but it is hidden from the kids until they pick up on their school work and chores.

Myself, being the only adult gamer in the house the PS3 still stands king --- simply because of Dark Souls. That game is like a drug that is hard to break. I have also downloaded Monster Hunter for Wii U hoping I can take a break from the Dark Souls habit.

Also, the kids have been playing a lot of their Wii games on the U and I have to say the games look great. A lot of Donkey Kong Country (what a brilliant game).

So satisfaction in my house is a solid positive. The kids rule and the kids have chosen Nintendo.

Small update on my first days with the Wii U that are very much on topic.

Yesterday I had a day off of work and no plans so I played New Super Mario Bros., and I played, and I played... For 7:30 hours straight only having a break for some food. I can't even remember when the last time was I played anything nearly as much in one day.

Man, Mario is awesome.

Still having some network problems though, but that could be a problem on my end as psn and xbl make some trouble as well sometimes, they are just not that much in face with error codes about it.

I finally gave in and purchased a Wii ethernet adaptor. It's kind of a pain, but I haven't had any connectivity issues since.

Man, I really want to like the WiiU, but so far I'm just playing the waiting game for new software (Wonderful 101, Rayman, Bayonetta 2) and the interface speed update and Wiitv to work with Directv. Though I have a feeling in a year or so like will quickly evolve into Love. The system has alot going for it, it just needs some polish. Offscreen play is a game changer.

Um it works with my direct tv right now.

I am in the process of selling my Wii and contemplating selling my PS3 and buying a Wii U. I was going to buy one yesterday, but I decided to get a 3DS XL instead for now. But with the Target deal still live, I may jump on board if I can sell my PS3 quick. The only thing I use it for right now is Bluray, DVD, and media server for streaming off of my PC.

Now the Wii U doesn't play any sort of physical media, which is a mega bummer...But can it work as a media server? If so, that will help me with my decision. I can get a cheap Bluray player at Walmart to replace my PS3 in that respect.

Also, if I get a Wii U Deluxe, what other "stuff" would be beneficial to buy right now? Anything in particular besides games? I hope this is the right thread...I figured the satisfaction thread would get me the most helpful info at this point, ha.

The Wii U cannot be used as a media server. It's a darn good YouTube player though :).

I won't bother selling your Wii.

I did without really thinking about it.
Got £15 for it.
Then realised I needed a Sensor bar.....
and realised another Wiimote would be handy....

Silly me

Can you get spare power cables for the Wii U, does anyone know? Checked Ebay, but only had charger cables on there.

Fancy taking my Wii U in the bedroom occasionally, so I can play on the Gamepad in bed, but power lead is behind the back of Cabernet and I don't fancy digging it out everytime I want to move it

You can buy one directly from Nintendo website, but it's quite expensive, over 30€/$ IRC.

My Wii U came with a sensor bar. Is this only in the Deluxe kit or something?

Edit: never mind.......too late with my post

Hey guys how do you like my... WII U FROZE WHEN I CLICKED SUBMIT. Fuck this company, the Wii U deserves to fail. They can't even code their own network properly. So no, I'm not satisfied. Iwata is one of the worst CEOs in consumer electronics history.

Dude....I've had almost all my consoles lock up at one point or another. The only reason this enraged you more is because it happened at possibly the worst moment and you lost a drawing that took you a long time. Surely this is rational thinking, right? I mean, I know it shouldn't do that, but you can't possibly think this console is the only one prone to lock-ups, right? My PS3 has locked up plenty of times....

I'm enjoying my Wii U, got Zombi U which is a great game, now I'm playing Monster Hunter, and Pikmin 3 should be out in a few months.

It's too bad all Wii U ports are also available on PC, I would love to give Dragon's Dogma an in-depth try, I thought it was kinda boring but I love the genre, plus it's a Capgod game.

Maybe if MH3U sells well.

Yeah, keep your Wii. If there's anything in the fridge, you need to do a transfer anyway.

I've got zero data on it. I had CFW and used it mostly as an emulation box. I played a handful of games on it, but it's been sitting for a LONG time doing nothing but collecting dust in the box.

My biggest issue with justifying the purchase now is the fact that it can't stream via PLEX or anything similar. Major bummer, especially considering it doesn't support any media playback.

I haven't tried it myself, but I believe some people have got Plex streaming to the Wii U through the web browser.

To this day, the only lockups I've encountered on the system have come from watching Hulu Plus, and once while watched House of Cards on Netflix. Never during a game. Never during miscellaneous system operations. I encountered similar lockups on Wii while running Hulu Plus, so I'm guessing those problems can be blamed on Hulu. Maybe I just got lucky and got a non-buggy system.

Probably asked many times before but what Wii games, besides SMG and DKCR, are worth it and do look great on WiiU. Any recommendations?

I think RE4 Wii edition looks better. Or at least it does on my TV. I tried playing it before the Wii U released and I couldn't stand the visuals. I would buy a HD update for Wii U and triple dip on it if it had pointer controls.

I beat Skyrim and Mass Effect 2 on PS3... I've yet to have to deal with so many lock ups on any Wii U games... Hulu, on the other hand? WAY too many...

Black ops 2 update to go live tonight. "Glitch fixes and game balancing."
From activision on miiverse.

Despite the apparent low sales, they haven't abandoned Wii U owners. Now if only they would release the game on the eshop.

The Wii U locks up for no reason at any time seemingly no matter what you're doing. It's the most crash-prone console I've ever owned.

Is there any way to check the availability of an NNID? I don't have a Wii U yet, but there's a name I'd like to have for it and I'm not sure how to check to see if I'll be able to use it.

I like the multitasking on WiiU. I was playing Mario, went online, messed around on miiverse, downloaded some egames, went back and my Mario game was still running right where I left off. love that feature.

a lot about this console seems borrowed from Apple devices.

They've leapfrogged the Xbox 360 in terms of system interfaces, it's been a while since I used a PS3 so not sure if Sony is quite there yet.

The interface is certainly more modern in terms of features we expect from our devices today (like multitasking), but that's to be expected when the competition is 6-7 years older. Similarly, I'm sure PS4 and Next Xbox interfaces will leapfrog Wii U's.

i havent heard of any next gen console having a miiverse like forum for every game. plus some of the multitasking doesnt make a whole lot of sense without a tablet on the gamepad since browsing the web with a controller can be pretty cumbersome.

but we'll see I don't expect much innovation there on the Xbox since they've been updating the dashboard all along anyway.

It'll be hard to tell but I know at least Sony will be heavily pushing social stuff and I assume Microsoft will too. About Xbox having had constantly updated dashboards, that is true, but it's still bottlenecked by a tiny amount of OS RAM. Any constraints in that regard will be taken away next gen.

God DAMN.

I am so happy with my Wii U purchase now that there are games in sight.

I'm getting:
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
- LEGO City Undercover
- Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing Transformed

this weekend.

Then, later this year:
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut (Never played it)
- Wind Waker HD
- Watch Dogs
- Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

and of course, the Luigi DLC for NSMBU

I haven't wanted this many games for a console in a long time. Hell, I've only owned two 3DS games, and I've had that far longer.

I probably sound like a huge fanboy, but this is why I don't bother to wait to buy Nintendo consoles anymore. I pretty much expect there to be games for it (3DS almost disappointed me in that regard, but Pokemon comes out this year).

More satisfied than before.

Got Lego City U. :) Looking forward to Deus Ex HR, RE Rev, Bayonetta 2, W101, Pikmin3, Zelda HD, etc.

Now if I could get my hands on one of those $30 copies of NFS. Will wait for eshop sale.

So this is my haul so far.

Not too happy overall with Floaty Physics: The Game in the middle there, and I regret buying Puddle, but other than those I've been happy.

Even though I discovered I suck at Tekken and it's just not for me, I'm still glad I bought it!

i'm not satisfied.................with the amount of copies of games in stores :/

i went to 3 stores today and none had lego city and each other had just one copy of monster hunter, wanted to do the buy 2 get 1 free

bleh i am tempted to go digital
