"On the other hand, its the most popular online shooter in the world, so the best players are the best from millions, rather than hundreds of thousands..."
Not really an accurate way of looking at it, as the number of people who attempt to be "competitive" in COD and the number of people who attempt to be competitive in CS are more than likely pretty close.
A FPS being played competitively with gamepads. That's what I find funny.
Not saying we don't but every LAN tourney I have been to hasnt been like this disgusting presentation that they call esports.Because PC gamers don't swear in online games, true story!
I don't Dota2 should be considered Esports, there are no skillshots.
Move mouse and click: 2easy.

The fact you describe yourself as a "pro PC gamer" is hilarious. And I know you're deadly serious as well.
As for this video. People swear when playing games some of the stuff I used to hear when playing Counter Strike was hilarious and the only thing on the line in those matches was stats.
Couldn't even make it through the whole video. Its even sadder seeing people act like this in real life then it is just hearing it on the internet.
You don't see this kind of extreme behavior in other sports. You don't even see this kind of behavior in contact sports where there are wagers on the line!
So did anyone watch the video until the end? You guys never ever swear? Watch it till the end for the final words of the author and think about it.
This is why we cant have interesting video games. This is the target audience.
Coming from a Pro PC gamer this is what happens when you support home consoles in the competitive scene. And its totally what they deserve.
And you there we have it. This kind thought is even sadder.Coming from a Pro PC gamer this is what happens when you support home consoles in the competitive scene. And its totally what they deserve.
As much as they were cunts, it was tame compared to the crowds you get at a football match (not handegg).
I loved how they were all doing the "hold me back" arms out thing, as if any of them have ever been in a fight and come out on top.
I just feel gamepads are woefully unsuited for the genre. Not only do gamepads impact your situational awareness due to how long it takes to do quick turns but there's also issues like aim acceleration(which attempts to alleviate the aforementioned problem) and aim assist. This blog has good info. How is it funny?
Please explain the unworthiness of the gamepad in a FPS competitive scene.
You know, maybe that's exactly why it's like that. It's intense, almost down to luck or at least fast reflexes, if you go for serious play it may well draw the kind of people who'd be acting like that as it's kind of a crap shoot, versus something slower and more methodical probably having a few, relatively calm "fuck"s when things go wrong. It actually reminds me of when playing UNO on XBL on party chat with people playing Gears, those of us playing UNO were the ones swearing (not that bad though god damn), not the Gears players.I could never imagine being so serious about an auto-aim shooter. How fucking embarrassing.
Those 2 videos are not big sponsored teams playing in a big sponsored event conducting themselves like assholes so my point stands.Right....

I see pc elitist has becoming as sad as 360/ps3 fanboys who argue in youtube nowadays.

Comparing this to the behaviour of players in other sports is interesting, but still reflects poorly on the players and organisers here. In other team/individual sports there are typically some rules about behaviour towards other players and officials, and if you were to behave like this in front of them - not just swearing in the scrum - you would be pulled up.
Everyone involved here, from organisers, through managers down to players and media seem to tolerate and encourage the behaviour. If that's the face they want to put forward, that's fine, but it's not going to help them be taken more seriously.

Now show US players but put them in their own rooms. The N-bomb usage would be staggering.
They're just like rabid sports fans.
