Yes people swear but not even COD4 LANS were this bad. People were thrown out for this shit.
Look at the DOTA LANS and the Starcraft LANS you do not see any of this this shit goes beyond banter. They just swear and carry on for the sake of it.

Well, as it says at the end, this kind of behaviour common in many aggressive sports (although maybe not to the same level), so it would make sense to feature in some esports. The reactions of the people in the video indicate that it's pretty normal in pro Call of Duty games it would seem, and nobody seems to be genuinely aggressive to others after the matches; again, much like physical sports.
But with that said, it does seem rather excessive and as danmaku just said, physical sports have referees to reduce this kind of thing. I'm pretty sure things like this are what put me off competitive (and even co-operative) gaming in the first place to be honest.

Comparing this to the behaviour of players in other sports is interesting, but still reflects poorly on the players and organisers here. In other team/individual sports there are typically some rules about behaviour towards other players and officials, and if you were to behave like this in front of them - not just swearing in the scrum - you would be pulled up.
Everyone involved here, from organisers, through managers down to players and media seem to tolerate and encourage the behaviour. If that's the face they want to put forward, that's fine, but it's not going to help them be taken more seriously.

I just feel gamepads are woefully unsuited for the genre. Not only do gamepads impact your situational awareness due to how long it takes to do quick turns but there's also issues like aim acceleration(which attempts to alleviate the aforementioned problem) and aim assist. This blog has good info.
You know, maybe that's exactly why it's like that. It's intense, almost down to luck or at least fast reflexes, if you go for serious play it may well draw the kind of people who'd be acting like that as it's kind of a crap shoot, versus something slower and more methodical probably having a few, relatively calm "fuck"s when things go wrong. It actually reminds me of when playing UNO on XBL on party chat with people playing Gears, those of us playing UNO were the ones swearing (not that bad though god damn), not the Gears players.

Those 2 videos are not big sponsored teams playing in a big sponsored event conducting themselves like assholes so my point stands.

I agree with this.
The organizers look at this as venting. It is their call, and this is just one tournament line that we are seeing. There's no proof (so far) that all COD tournaments are carried like this.

These kids need to learn some proper respect, honestly.
The worst pros representing proper esports I can think of are Idra and Filipino Champ. Both are full of rage and competitive spirit, just as much as these guys, but both are much better at handling that and at worst do some subtly passive-aggressive bullshit instead of just screaming at the monitor and each other like that angry German kid playing Unreal Tournament.

& as far as sports go, the stuff I've done, there is a pretty low tolerance for that kind of thing. But I guess maybe Volleyball & Swimming competitions are for pussies. ;-)
