Glad to see people in this thread enjoying RE6. It really is a great game for what it's trying to be (an action game rather than a survival game). It also is the best bang for your buck AAA title in recent memory - 25 hour campaign and an endlessly replayable Mercs mode.

Yeah, this is when it started to turn around for me too. Suddenly my friend and I went from being mostly quiet and bored to cracking up laughing and having a great time. Very curious to see where things go next with his campaign.
Also I think Jake and Sherry are very likable. Thought I'd loathe him and find her to just be the dumb bubbly blonde type, but no. They're great and play off each other very well.
Totally agree about Jake and Sherry. Tis was the last of the campaigns I started and I definitely find their narrative way more interesting than the other two campaigns. I was actually slow to catch on and did not realize whise son Jake was at first. We are in his third chapter now, the opening of which is fantastic.
Man, ain't this the fucking truth. What were they thinking. These should all be various HUD designs you can select from in the option menu, at the very least. Maybe a modder will save the day.
I don't really mind it but it is a goofy, off thing for them to waste production and money on. They might as well have gone all the way and made separate title screens for each campaign.
No Mercy seems crazier here than it was in RE5. I got stuck between two giant waves of zombies on a staircase in Urban Chaos and had to spam flash grenages, melee, and herbs to get out. Then I turned around and shot a RPG at the other side lol.
What they need to work on is consolidating matchmaking. This game has co-op (4 campaigns with 5 chapters), agent hunt (12 scenarios in this, but it isn't too hard to manage), Mercenaries, Mercenaries No Mercy, Onslaught, Predator, Survivors, and Siege (the last three are not released yet on PC). On top of this you can't specifically look to join campaign crossovers and those become increasingly rare to get to work (the console launch had enough dudes where it could realistically happen, but not with the PC release it seems).
Oh yeah, it is annoying they didn't remove the search result limit for PC. I kind of wished they just gave me a big old server list for all the game types. Failing that, the ability to have my Mercenaries game interrupted to do something I like... I'm thinking being pulled into campaign crossovers.

I'm going to pick this up just to play mercenaries coop in No Mercy mode. It felt strongly apparant to me that for the graphics overhaul from RE5, they lowered the number of enemies at any one time. There were a few moments in the campaign when they must've optimised the game very well to get around this, but other than that the game felt like a ghost town with mercenaries being the worst. The new gameplay mechanics and the arms to kill a small nation and nobody to use it on. I'm hoping someone could mod the campaign to produce more enemies, but I doubt it.
Or maybe I was just imagining things.
EDIT:
If I purchase a retail copy can it be added to my Steam account?

Completed Ada campaign, so now I've got all characters unlocked for mercs, woots!
Continuing from my last screenshot spree -- here's a much larger screenshot spree! Obvious spoiler warning as this is from the entire Ada campaign. Majority are from cutscenes as it's usually hard to take screenshots while playing.
Just finished Leon's campaign. I have mixed feelings on this game so far. I think the actual gameplay and controls are better than 5 but I don't think I like anything else as much. I didn't think the locations were as interesting, I missed not being able to upgrade weapons, and that last boss is pretty terrible
Seriously how many fucking mutations can one enemy have? That is the most ridiculous final boss fight in recent memory.
However it's not all negatives from me. Like I said the way they tweaked the movement and combat controls makes the characters feel much less clunky than 5. Also mercenaries seems as awesome as ever.
I'm going to keep on playing the other campaigns, but the second half of Leon's was pretty disappointing.
I thought this game was bland as an action game, thus failing to deliver to either audience it intended to.
I decided to get a coop partner for the game and ended up playing with a friend who has pretty much never played a Resident Evil game before, he has touched the earlier games momentarily but he's too afraid to play them so it was an interesting experience. We played the game several months after the game released, so we knew there were was a poor reception. I bought the game based on a short experience of the demo and was baffled by the reception the game got. When we were playing the campaign his exact words were "This is fing amazing. I don't get the hate". Keep in mind this was Leon 1-3~. Then we ended up in
China
. The pacing changes drastically as the game feels like it was overly forced to intertwine the campaigns together and there's pretty much nothing but
Simmons boss fights
. We did enjoy them, found it quite funny fighting him so many times, so overall a healthy opinion.
Then we moved on to Chris and Jake campaigns and our opinions went down the toilet. The whole flow/level design felt just... poor. Like we were exploring a theme park of environments with nothing in them. It was terrible in my opinion. I've seen really divisive opinions of the best campaigns and I know the playing order of chapters can be an issue but I doubt my mind would change. I decided to play the Ada campaign solo and enjoyed it for what it was, even if it was frustrating at times I enjoyed it a lot more than Chris or Jake.
For me it's Leon > Ada > Jake > Chris. Mercs in coop was poorly programmed too, "Find the enemy to continue the combo!", just... bleh.

I agree about the locations. I feel that the locations and gameplay were likely limited by the consoles. I'm not asking for Elder Scrolls sandbox, but a much larger, nonlinear college campus, midtown Manhattan, classic mansion, etc. And get rid of QTEs completely. Add more puzzles. Then the game would be awesome.
I've been playing in small chunks and still haven't finished Leon's first chapter.
I must say, I'm having a rather good time with the game. The action really is quite satisfying.
However, I'm baffled at how low-quality/amateur the presentation is--especially considering that this is one of Capcom's premier franchises. Every texture that isn't on a character model is horrible. Just downright bad, ugly, and muddy. The game is just full of "jank," too. Quirky animation bugs, animations simply not existing (Leon extending his hand toward a key and the key just vanishes, implying that he picked it up), objects clipping through other objects, flickering shadows, really poor presentation in set pieces and scripted events, etc. The list just goes on and I'm still in the first chapter.
But the action is really fun, and I suppose that's what matters. Everything surrounding the action is kind of mediocre, though. They must have rushed this one out the door because it really feels like a B-level game in terms of production quality.
I've now completed 9 chapters, 3 with each character. I think this is one of the best co-op games I've ever played. The variety and difference between campaigns is great. The intersecting stories are really neat in that "Oh, I know what happened hear" sort of way.
And the classic Resident Evil throw backs are great. The RE 1 model of the mansion with the emblem hidden in the back passage of the drawing room, the
giant invisible snake!
etc.
I'm no dude bro. I grew bored of Modern Warfare a long timeago and haven't even played a game in that series since MW2 as a result. And I have been playing Resident Evil 1 since I went out of my way to pick up the original game while I was on vacation with friends in Florida. I actually made them drive me to a Toys R Us to buy it on release day and I stayed home from Disney Land to play it on a little 13" screen TV. And I loved that game. I love this one too.
What is everyone using as their input of choice? Kb/m or controller? Tried a little of both during the prelude and not quite sure which one I want to stick with yet.

I've been using KB/M so far, because it allows me to be much more precise with aiming. I may try switching to the 360 controller later on and see how that goes, but considering so much of the action in this game involves aiming with a reticule, I am pretty sure I'll be staying with KB/M.
Not a great horror game in the slightest but as an action game I'm having a lot of fun. So far its probably my favorite TPS campaign since I've played Binary Domain and Vanquish. Nothing like sliding past a dude while shooting at him, popping up and throwing a haymaker.

I'm using controller but two of my co-op buddies are using keyboard and mouse and I'll be honest, they out gun me in terms of kills and accuracy pretty much every level.
But I like to be able to kick back and put my feet up while I play, so I'm sticking with controller.
Glad to see everyone having fun! I suspect this is a game many will come to appreciate as they learn its peculiarities and distance themselves from the negative fog lingering over it at launch.
I'll echo Riposte's tip: Try sliding past the enemy and pulling back on the analog stick mid-slide to instanteously turn around so you can blast them in the back. For even more fun, try doing it when they're crowded around a barrel.
And for EVEN MORE fun, drop some remote mines on the ground at their feet as you sliiiiiiiiide past them. KA-BOOM!
I'm playing the Leon campaign right now and the zombies that run and jump at you are giving me a lot of trouble. Any tips on how to deal with them? I'm reacting too slow to dodge and I can't quite get the timing right for the counter. Maybe a quick shot?

Jump back -- they'll land where you were standing. And if you release the action button as you hit the ground, you'll roll back to your feet. Alternatively, you could stay on the ground and shoot from your back, and barrel-roll left or right if they lunge again.

This needs to be in the OP: The brightness issues are fixed by running the game in Borderless Windowed mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oYQZFLBkAg (instructions and download links in the video description)
Same thing happened to me with Sleeping Dogs too. Idk why some games have this issue but I'm glad I found a fix.
Guys what is going with this game? I just started playing it and got to the first couple of checkpoints. I then backed out and it said it saved my game. So it's back on the main Resident Evil 6 screen and says to press any key which I did.
Once I press any key, it makes me go through the whole beginning of the game all over again despite having saved my checkpoints.
During this, the game gives me no option to skip to another menu, or reload any saved checkpoints or even do anything else like start a coop game or play mercs. Where do I go or what do I press to get to the game's save/load/play coop/may mercs options screen?

Finish the prelude. Completely. It shouldn't take very long, and you'll know when you're done with it when you then get the option of selecting the 4 campaigns.
