I really want Nintendo to scrap this abortion of a system and start fresh, I miss a 3 way console war. Ain't gonna happen.
The best way to gain support. Kick those who have already bought the machine in the nuts.

Nintendo's 2013 1st-party lineup:
* LEGO City Undercover
* Yarn Yoshi
* Wii Fit U
* Game and Wario
* Wii U Sports
* Pikmin 3
* Pokemon Scramble U
* Wii U Party
* The Wonderful 101
* 3D Mario
* Wind Waker HD
* Mario Kart U
* (Potentially more unannounced games).
For Nintendo, that level of support is quite significant.
Take a look at their 1st-year of support for the Nintendo 64 for comparison:

VITA has a great hardware -superior to its rival- and that can keep it on the market for many years... besides, will have full compatibility with PS4.
WiiU has an old hardware -inferior to its rivals- and that, luckily, will keep it on the market for two or three more years.
VITA will have more than 100 games this year, including big games like Soul Sacrifice, Dragon's Crown, YS: Memories of Celceta, Valhalla Knights 3, Killzone, Tearaway, both Final Fantasy X and A LOT of great indie games like Hotline Miami, Lone Survivor or Terraria. And, when PS4 come out, you'll can play most of the PS4 games on the Vita via remote play...
WiiU... what? a Monster Hunter... a Pikmin... and what else this year? And next one, with PS4 and Durango on the market?
Don't talk nonsense...
Ocarina
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Majora's Mask
Skyward Sword
definite list of all times unquestionable truth bomb dropped.
Well yes of course, using the WiiU as a companion box is the most logical thing to do. It's just not the goal that Nintendo is shooting for with the WiiU. Prior to launch they made it very clear they were trying to support 3rd partiess, which was bewildering even back then because of the underpowered hardware. I just don't agree that Nintendo didn't actively want third parties on board with the WiiU.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying that Nintendo consoles are companion consoles and Nintendo exclusive boxes, so it's all OK. That's really troubling as it was not always this way.
It's like there is some unspoken video game law that states this and fans just abide by it. I was hoping the Wii U would be the one console that a video game fan would need as long as you were ok with missing Sony and MS 1st party games. When did people have such low expectations?
There's no way Wind Waker, 3D Mario and Mario Kart U will all come out this year.

You're right, he forgot to mention WiiU owners should hope the Vita still gets games because it will receive those ports too.
This is a disaster, but one many people saw a mile away. The system isn't powerful enough to get PS4/Durango ports, and will rely on instead of current gen ports. EA seems rather non-supportive right now but let's be real: the WiiU will get Madden, CoD, etc. It's not like they'll stop making current gen games anytime soon, the 360/PS3 userbases are too large to ignore (and I expect both the PS4/Durango to start slow, sales wise). But outside of titles that every system on earth will get, I doubt the WiiU will see any major support.
EA press release said:Madden NFL 25 will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system for $59.99.
You say that, but remember Iwata's precarious job situation...
Something tells me that Nintendo will somehow manage.![]()
Jesus Christ, sometimes forget how bad things were on there

in a nintendo direct iwata said that wind waker will arrive on september/autumn.
It would be interesting to know how much money Nintendo make on consoles sold, i mean the Wii was pretty much a repackaged Gamecube and it was sold at a ridiculous price (they must of made a shit load of money off the Wii) and the WiiU has power barely any more than 8 year old consoles and yet again sells at a ridiculous price.
No wonder they always hang around like a bad smell, their business tactics are close to ripping people off levels and thats why i take pleasure from all the bad news Nintendo get now, they deserve if for all the constant bullshit and for starting the awful motion control fad (believe it or not but i actually loved them pre Wii days)
Realistically? Eight to ten major Nintendo games per year, for two, maybe three years, then nothing, and Nintendo will either go third party, or more likely, handheld only.So if Wii U doesn't get much next-gen multiplatform support, then what will it get ? Third-parties don't do much exclusives on HD consoles due to the obvious high development costs. There's naturally a limit to Nintendo's resources in securing second-party projects. As cool as it will be to have them, it is not a strategy that can compensate for the potential severe lack of third-parties to willingly support Nintendo's platform with their own developed and published titles.
You sound mad.How the fuck is Vita finding footing? 2 and 3 year ports of indie games? No. It's just as bad of a position as Wii U.
nes - young americans
gb/c - station to station
snes - low

Um what?, I wasnt aware the gamepad was 8 year old technology...
and last I checked 360 is selling around an average of $300 bucks still(depending on SKU), and it doesn't even come with an old gamepad!

Smash Bros. will arrive soon enough, but I'm worried about their controller situation though. The CC/pro series works, but they weren't specialized for Nintendo games.It was rough, but Nintendo would kill for their own Goldeneye right now. That made the N64 the go to console for multiplayer games.

Wouldn't a platform that had Nintendo games, indie games, AND third party AAA games be even better though? It's not like the first two categories and the third are mutually exclusive.
I wonder if Nintendo will just give up on third parties and pursue the indies more and more. 3rd parties, outside of maybe Ubisoft for a little bit, see the Wii U as an absolute joke. I would just go for the indies and do our normal Nintendo thing if I were them right now. It's starting to just be sad. I mean, Vita had lots going for it, but not much interest. Wii U doesn't really have anything going for it, and tons of things going AGAINST it.
Thing is, even with UE4 third parties wouldn't have jumped on board even if it became the most popular console out there again.
Even the Wii did not have that much of great third party support considering it's success.
But once again it shows how childish people of the industry can be.

Why do we want multiplat ports on the Wii U? Buy a PS4 for that. You own a Wii U for Nintendo games and exclusive third-party titles that Nintendo courted. People gotta stop acting like Nintendo "failed" by not being included in multiplatform plans. Nintendo boxes are companion consoles. You get them because they do things your PS4/720 doesn't.
No point of even buying consoles for multiplats, might as well stick to PC for multiplats and consoles for exclusives.
But everyone's saying they're already going to pay another $250 dollars for a controller with an actual screen on it to stream their games.
Still makes perfect sense for them and their dev teams though. Especially for a company that doesn't think gaming budgets should be over $20 million.
...
Come to think of it... I don't think they've made a game in which development costs were over $15 million.
They'll probably try to come out with a console that is everything fans and companies have been asking from them first.
I could see that yes, but Japanese devs will be split. The big ones like SE and Capcom will be solidly in Sony's camp. They want that Western appeal.
It'll happen. Rushed and not as feature complete as the past, but then a shorter 3D Mario means your audience will still be thirsty for the 1.5 sequel a year and a half later. Wind Waker HD is farmed out to some other studio and is a "finished" game. Hell, if its a safe Mario Kart and nothing more, just dragging assets about in HD and a new gimmick makes that a quickie too.
panic mode Nintendo is best Nintendo!
Besides the streaming tech, nothing in the gamepad is current. Low resolution, single touch, resistive display is not new. Actually, im not even sure how old the streaming tech is.

I actually blame both Yamauchi and Iwata's visions conflicting with 3rd parties more than anything. A new CEO could improve the support for Nintendo's next console but it depends on a lot of things that are impossible to predict.For sure, but that isn't happening. It hasn't happened in the last 20 ish years. Pretty incredibly that people are still hopeful for that to happen really. Even Nintendo themselves, with the Gamecube they were going to get 3rd parties on board again, with Wii they were going to get 3rd parties on board again, Wii U same deal. I guess that's why Nintendo was so horribly prepared for Wii U.
