To non-book readers; what did you think of that final scene and its reveal? I'm curious. I think it lacks a lot of punch for strictly viewers. Or did the character of Barristan Selmy resonate strongly enough with you back in Season 1?

I like how Joffrey was like "Kindness...pity...what are these things?" I think he likes his new gf though.

All part of her plan. Seems pretty smart of her to end up having the people love her, would mean less of those riots that almost got Sansa raped.

It was pretty meh to me.. Forgot who he was, even.

Didn't do much for me. I remembered his look but didn't really remember him until he started talking about himself.

I was like "oh shit its that old guy."

Not sure why its suppose to be a big deal, this guy was almost retired, he looks pretty old and just another knight, is he suppose to be a game changer at that age?

I'm guessing he can be good at recruiting new men and training them more than being a physical threat.

I don't even know why magnus would come in here and ask that question in the first place. It's not a big deal, the show will reteach you about the character.

I remembered him, but the scene wasn't really impactful.

Poor Tyrion, the guy almost dies for his mostly crappy family and he still can't get respect from his dad, who he has utmost respect for. :(

What does that old dude offer that her main dude whose name escapes me doesn't?

Seems like they have similar skill sets.

He served under the mad king. For any of the followers of the Targaryen he most likely has huge clout.

May help in building up her army.

Barristan Selmy, and Jorah Mormont, respectively.

Selmy was a member of her father (the Mad King's) kingsguard.

I suppose he offers her lineage and legacy, a more direct connection to Westeros and her father. His departure in Season 1 was accompanied by a line along the lines of "even now, I could cut the lot of you down effortlessly", as he addressed the other members of the kingsguard while he was being dismissed in court. So he's probably a badass knight, on Mormont's level with combat prowess.

Book readers needs to stop asking these types of questions, because even asking is a way of hinting at things to come. Just observe the discussion. If nobody is talking about it, then it didn't make an impression on the non-book readers.

I apologize! The scene had a lot of flair and drama and was the episode closer. I had a lot of my friends message me and go "who is that guy?!" and they'd seen Season 1 and 2. I just wanted to see how the scene played out for you guys, that's all. :)

I'll head out!

I think she's really doing two things here.

One being, she's creating stability because stability is good for her.
She's propping up Joffrey to the common person because then the Lannisters will think of her highly (Same with highgarden giving all that food).
She's really propping her own popularity up. Who would want to fuck with her like people fuck with Sansa?

But yes, Margary scenes were the best this episode. :)

I also liked that they didn't try to focus on the entire cast. It makes the episodes much more interesting when we get to actually spend time with characters.

yes please.

I hope this is not like last year where every 25 posts or so we had to beg for no more book spoiling nonsense

Hey guys, anybody know how long it takes for the show to start popping up on HBO Go?

I'm bumming Go off of my parents' HBO subscription back home while I'm at school.

Really good episode. I counted one pair of boobs this episode.

So glad GoT is back!

Well they always seem to have at least one a season with no boobs and the kids end up giving the commentary on it.

You're so right.

She's so going to make a man out of that loser Joffrey.

posts like this pissed me the fuck off in season 1 and 2 threads. even innocuous questions by those who read the books may hint at, mislead, or confuse non book readers.

^this, if you read the books don't even post. mods should be monitoring this thread, and throwing down the ban hammer.

as someone through book 3, i shouldn't have even posted but felt compelled to do so. i'll make this my last one in this thread and return to voyeuring.

Very mellow S3 Episode one premier, Margery just stole the show and giving a glimpse of her character. Dragon scenes were awesome and well worth the wait! The scene with Tyrion and Tywin was actually the best part of episode one. The slaver guy talking shiet to Daenyrus in another language had me cracking up.

For some reason the dragons still fail to impress me. The cgi work on them and the interaction with the actors seem off. But it's better than most tv cgi.

From your reaction I assume this is not very common, eh? Haha

Hopefully it only takes a day or two so I don't get too far behind.

I live in the west coast and it's not suppose to air here until 8:00pm pacific time. I hopped in HBO go on my 360 and was watching it at around 6:41PM.

Great episode overall. I thought the final scene was awesome and had me really excited.

Oh and I can't believe how much Cersei agitated me. Holy shit lol.

Anyway can't wait for next week!

Eh, same here, but honestly they're fictional creatures. The CGI work is probably the best I've seen on a TV show, and I'm fine with them.

Some serious Skyrim shit going on beyond the wall. Jon Snow's story continues to be the most interesting to me.

The Night's Watch better hope those giants can't exploit the Skyrim glitch or else they'll be launching human missiles right over the Wall =) .
