XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) News, Announcements, Reviews, and Impressions Thread

Sacred Citadel was confirmed for wednesday next week and they change the boxart to a crapper one over night.

They put up the fourth and last character reveal as well,

Seraphim Mage

I like that the new Boxart is more eye-catching, and doesn't use are that is so obviously just promo-art from the trailers... but the art used is still normal promo art, and the fact it, once again, only has 2 characters on it, rather than 3 (since it's a 3p game) or 4 (since there are 4 classes) is pretty lame. A game like this begs for good cover ART, and they seem to be denying it that...

And awww, was hoping they'd sit on that last class until it was released. Well, it's good it's a cool Magic User design!

Really looking forward to seeing how this finally plays. 3D BEU's have to prove themselves to me much more than 2D ones, but this one looks like it has a chance to be something really special, if it all comes together. Wouldn't mind it being "The best 3D graphic BEU of the year"...

That's a good list of games, I'd recommend almost all of them to anyone, but mostly I'd recommend everyone get PoP Classic. One of the best games on XBLA; don't sleep on it! I guess I'll be picking up the only game I don't own, Origins, while looking at cheap fighting sticks for 360. Anyone know fighting controllers?

yo! wanted to say thanks for the recommendation. this game is awesome.

somehow i never played the original game, but i watched Arino play it on a Gamecenter CX ep and it looked cool. dont even know when this came out, but it went totally under the radar. there's only like 1400 people on the leaderboard. did it get reset, or are there that few people that bought it?

anyways after reading your post the other day i got the demo this morning to check it out and bought it right away. thanks for mentioning it, i would have totally ignored it again if you hadn't.

Damn, Motocross Madness is bad. As in "I'd have to think about buying it even for 200 points" bad. The popin is worse than the worst UE3 popin, image quality is abysmal, it's buggy as hell (I managed to get stuck between a fence and a wall inside the audience, however the game only recognized I was off track once I got on track again, you can drive on fences, you can miss stunts even though you finish them a second before landing), sometimes the slightest touch makes you crash, other times you can hit a wall dead on and nothing happens, the general feeling is more that of a very floaty car and not of a dirtbike. A racing game for 800 points would've been an instabuy for me, am I glad I tried it after reding about the freezes. Kameo 2 gets canceled and this POS gets released. It's a mad world.

Double Dragon II sucks hard. Terrible terrible art, low framerate, bad animation, poor button response, that ugly Japanese XBLA font, the stage being demoed is short and boring, really looks like a low-end PS2 brawler. I didn't buy Neon but the contrast in effort and inspiration between the two is spectacular.

I quite enjoyed the trial, perhaps I didn't play it enough to experience any of the above, but it seemed fun enough and the friends integration is well-done

Really ? i'm having a blast with the game. Ok graphically it's nothing to go wow about but the game's fun !!! Played it with 5 friends online... What a blast !!!

It's simple yet very very fun ! Playing as your avatar is cool too.

So, I stand by my Battlefield 1943 impressions. It reminds me of one of my favorite games, Pac-Man: CE (not DX!) in that its so simple, so elegant -- a perfect distillation of the concept. But... the community creeps me out. Every other match I'm playing with old, white southern dudes that coordinate with each other and have names like DixiePride and NoNamUSAUSA. The kind of people that are really, really... really into Confederate Civil War reenactment. So, yeah. Otherwise, it's a small masterpiece.

I don't have any of those. Can't decide whether I can be bothered to boot up my Xbox and add the points on to get them though.

I wonder if this will count as buying four arcade games for the Xbox Reward program thing?

No. Those Arcade games have to be at least 400 pts each for one of the punchcards.

However, it will count as 800 towards spending 3200, and getting 800 back.

In that case I'll probably just not spend the 800 now and then get my 800 points back immediately in "cash not spent" form.

Awesome to hear! At least one person has listened to my non-stop promoting of this game. :lol

I guess you'll be as sad as I to hear that a sequel by the same dev was announced...for iOS. :(

Brothers looks nice. Artwork and style is very Fable-esque.

Any more info on this game?

EDIT: Just realised it's developed by Starbreeze. Awesome! They always nail the atmosphere in their games, which is a big thing for me, so looking forward to this.

1 ... 2 ... 3 punchcards completed. Nice concept, I love the idea of earning money by playing games. The 2 % rebate on each purchase for high gamerscore users was a nice start, this is even better.

Its just a launcher for the 4 games, no achievements but It still appears on your gamercard

? Price is zero MS points in that picture? Sorry for the dumb questions:

1) Does the Twisted Pixel Bundle appear in your gamercard as a zero gamerscore game?

2) Will each of the four Twisted Pixel games also appear as four separate games on your gamercard?

You download a 10MB launcher for 800 msp. When you launch it, you can download the rest of the content--the actual games--for free. I'm assuming it uses a similar framework as the Sales and Specials+ app did in that the purchases are separate from the regular MS listings.

2) Will each of the four Twisted Pixel games also appear as four separate games on your gamercard?

Definitely--none of the achievement sites have anything registered for the bundle, so they're obviously still handed out as separate games.

The end is here. Life as you know it has gone to hell after the mother of all zombie outbreaks. Now you and the few scattered survivors must band together to survive and rebuild in a 3rd-person action game set in a dynamic open world. You choose where to make your stand, designing and fortifying your home base, performing daring raids for food and ammunition, and rescuing other playable survivors with unique talents. The open, sandbox world develops in real-time, dynamically generating content based on your choices and the ever-increasing zombie threat.

Available on Xbox LIVE June 2013.

agreed, rarely does a demo tell me to not even want to download for free on ps plus if it ever is put on there

i actually liked neon but this is horrible

You're going to have to rehost. I see a lot of dead links so they're already getting pulled.

Nothing is being pulled, the dead links point to things that haven't been uploaded yet. He's just future-proofing the page so that when things go up in the future, they'll appear without any extra work being needed.

So I haven't been on the 360 for a while and decided to look at some of my arcade games/trials. There's loads I have to play but I decided to give the Double Dragon Neon trial a go.

Fucking hell, I need this game in my life. The demo was rather bloody great indeed. I'm not sure how 'Double Dragon' it is and the combat is slower paced than I expected but man it's fun as hell. The 80s style songs as well had me smiling so fucking hard.

I won't be getting it just yet but it would be nice if it went on sale very soon :P

Such a shame it doesn't have online bro-op. :(

So TrueAchievements just informed me that Joe Danger 2 is getting a horror-themed DLC. I'm down for that. No date yet but I see it's already out on PSN so it probably won't take long.

Also, I was going to just play a couple of hours of Retro City Rampage but ended up beating it (because all of it, including collectables, only takes like 5 hours) and, damn, that was a boring game. Nice graphics and some really great songs - I especially like that one chiptune that sounds like a dark and ominous hiphop beat - but there's almost zero gameplay there. It's the basic shell of an early GTA, but with even fewer missions and side quests and layers upon layers of empty reference humor. I did like the Minecraft and Zelda areas.

Very true but I'll still get it for single player, seems like a lot of fun regardless :)

After looking through my list of arcade games last night I stuck on The Dishwasher Vampire Smiles (which I had bought) and 2 - 3 hours later I was still playing it. Didn't get to bed until 3am or so :P Absolutely fantastic beat em up, a lot more depth to it than I was expecting it tbh and just really fast, fluid and fun. From what I've played so far I'd easily consider one of my favourite XBLA games. I stuck on the first game afterwards which I had bought as well, yeah that's a LOT harder, I couldn't get past the second level! (well partly due to trying to so late/being tired) I'm sure I can when I sit down and actually put time into it but I think I'll finish Vampire Smiles first.

Same here but as far as I know it hasn't gone on sale yet.

I see 'Tax Day Games Sale: The Fun Returns' on the home page, but it just goes to the regular deal of the week and other drops and cheap stuff pages.

Are there unlisted sales or drops coming, or is it kindof a 'faux one day sale' where the existing sales are being mentioned for anyone who might not be aware?
