Not appearing on the MARXIST BBC every other day?

Yeah it is very odd, The Quasi Krypto-Commies at the Beeb love having them on usually. But normally you can't shut the TPA up, what could possibly be the issue.

I wish our taxpayer alliance in Australia had some clout.

Our one doesn't have any clout either, it's an entirely independent, organisation representative of the UK population. They must be being censored by the media, they can't all be Conservative supporters.

make it stop, Lord

Sorry, I stand corrected. They ran straight to the EU, bent over and gave our rebate away. That they did change.

Ha. I see what you did there. At least you guys know that there is an organisation that exists for the advocacy of taxpayers interests, however ridiculous you might think they are. Politics in the UK is endlessly interesting. Meanwhile in Australia, we have an election coming in September and it looks like the self-destruction of the Labor party has basically just handed the next election to the Liberals. Great stuff guys.

For what it's worth, our previous PM took a lot of inspiration from Thatcherism, but a little more moderate I suppose and our country is a lot better off for it.

This just gets better and better :-

The £6million property Thatcher lived in for more than 20 years is owned by Bakeland Property Company, based in the Caribbean territory. Their official address is a PO Box in Liechtenstein and they had their original roots in St Helier, Jersey.

Basically a tax dodge to avoid paying 2.4 million in inheritance tax. I am now of the view there are skivers and scroungers in this country but it isn't poor people on benefits.

Maybe the Aussie media system wouldn't dance around pretending they're an independent organisation. It removes some of the effectiveness.

Will there be a moratorium on Leslie Philips films just in case he mentions his catchphrase at an inappropriate time?

Batshit insane Islamophobe McCarthyist bigoted piece of shit Michele Bachmann is going to be there?

Christ on a fucking stick.

Typical of Thatcher, taking away Big Ben's right to strike..... :P

That has to be the "best" joke so far on my Twitter timeline.

The funeral is becoming a farce, even some MP's are beginning to question why Big Ben is being silenced and why the whole funeral is costing £10 million, although allegedly Maude is not including the wages of the 3000 armed forces personnel and police officers who will be part of the funeral and security in the final cost.

I must say, I'm finding her funeral arrangements a bit over the top too...

It won't cost £10 mill, thats just the highest estimate being touted by the left wing press. It will also include stuff like wages also which would have been paid to those involved regardless. (Police, Soldiers, Emergency services etc etc.)

There are better farces costing £10m than this.

£10m is about 18 months food-and-alcohol subsidy to the House of Commons. Or two years costs of the four NHS homeopathic hospitals.

That Big Ben thing is taking it too far again. Cameron is such an idiot, how can he not see that this is rather inappropriate for a non-state funeral of a PM?

Seriously? Is this Ayurvedic / traditional Chinese healing therapies or watery molecular nonsense?

Both actually. I think they started off with the watery molecule stuff but have been branching out into other things that don't work too.

On our nursing course you can't criticise these therapies, Service users get what they want. I understand being respectful on the wards, but in uni we should be a little more real.

Why can't all of them be stopped? ;)

Most of all the homeopathy.

Probably because it would be spun as an attack on the NHS, which apparently must be protected at all costs.

Yeah, this seems bonkers. Similar things happen in teacher training, with students not being able to criticise whatever the 'accepted' approach is even if it is wrong, or based on misinterpreted research - when Mrs P was doing PGCE she was fed a whole bunch of bullshit about what two very well-respected researchers had said but it so happens that I knew both of those researchers personally and what was being pushed in their name wasn't anywhere near what they had actually come up with.

And as to service users getting what they want, why the hell should they if the service is free to them, at a cost to everybody else, and doesn't work?

It wouldn't be an attack on the NHS, it would be an attack on the patient and choice.

Working on a ward is a nightmare, it's about keeping people happy instead of healing them, the whole system is on edge.

People want to be treated like customers in a shop, if you like crystals we're not there to judge. We've gone from one extreme(military style, shut up and take your medicine) to pandering nonsense and wasting valuable time.

I always enjoyed David Tennant's quote on Thatcher. It gives a good view into how a lot of Scotland felt about her.
‘When I started working in theatre in England, I would meet people, and they would say ‘Oh, I voted for Margaret Thatcher.’
The first time I heard someone saying that, I honestly thought they were joking. I’d be thinking, ‘I have never met anyone from your world.
What’s it like? Do you roast children over open fires?’”

It might crack and pure evil will leak out like Judge Death released from his Boing prison.

The Tennant quote is interesting, I lived beside Ralston (where he grew up) and I would have sworn it returned a Conservative member in 1979. Not after that though.

edit, Seems I'm mistaken. East Renfrewshire returned a Conservative candidate in 1979 but West Renfrewshire returned a Labour one. In 1983 the constituency was broken out into Renfrew West and returned a Conservative candidate (with Liberal leanings), and a Labour one in 1987 (which would have been the first election in which David was eligible to vote).

The US is sending Baker and Kissinger. The American's do love their irony. Very pleased she has been ignored by every major developed nation.

Today is a black day for British Broadcasting.

Huh, who has ignored her? They announced representatives from almost all major countries.

Just back from the dentist. They were showing the funeral preparations in the waiting room and some old lady shouted "turn that evil cunt off!", to which they duly obliged.

Jeremy Kyle went on instead. This is in Ireland though.

Best thing i've heard all week.

lol, when JK is a better option, society is truly fucked.

The inability of so many on this forum to admit market orientated policies can accomplish anything at all, whilst reaping all the rewards of capitalism and its excesses continues to baffle me. She was necessary, whether kind heart hearted or not. Before her time unions were crushing national productivity and spooking international investors, the Government before her was begging the IMF for debt servicing and the British economy was in a ditch.

Her privatisation efforts when she was in office turned the entire country around, at absolute minimal cost whilst she was doing it. Over the long term her efforts do indeed look significantly worse, but it was her responsibility to govern in her time, there were Governments past hers that bare far more of the blame on the economic crash 20 years after the fact. She also recognised climate change about as early as any leader could.

She also nailed the problem of the EU with her understanding of monetarism, whilst none of the other Governments singing on to that nightmare did. As far as feminism goes, she is still the most remarkable female leader of modern times, she struck a real balance between her femininity and her ability to wipe the floor with the entire opposition party again and again and again.

All the newspapers were reporting on how much of a joke she was when she arrived as the leader of the opposition, met real male supremacy, and she turned out to be the most powerful PM since Churchill. Its an admirable feat no matter where on the isle you stand.

Oh I agree IronicallyTwisted. She did a lot of good for this country. But imo that doesn't warrant a quasi state funeral. She was after all "only" a PM, and that is supposed to be a rather humble position. This funeral is way over the top for me. Should have been small and dignified.

Will reply later to this shower of shite.

Let's not hype up the 70s into some end of the world scenario. The sick man of Europe is a 150 year old phrase that gets overplayed, Some reform of unions was needed, but the statistics outside of Oilshock inflation weren't that bad.

People going to the event just to turn their back when the coffin passed? Doesn't make sense to me. Is it just to try and get that physical statement of disapproval shown on TV?
