Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

CNN took the biggest L I've ever seen this week. I had no idea they were so incompetent until now. So many blunders.

I hope this will be recognized at large and reported heavily. It can't be shoved under the internet rug.

First, I hope whenever this movie gets made, that Michael Mann is the director.

Second, I got kind of worried for the conspiracy folks when it was suggested that maybe police had thrown flash grenades in the boat, which was now on fire. I think Shep was the one to directly link that to what happened with Dorner and the place burning down in the same manner. I heard Alex Jones and Glenn Beck get boners at that.

It's been a wacky few months in America. Are conservative media shitting on Obama for somehow botching this yet?

Great address by Obama:

Reading through Suspect 2's Twitter and his response to the official Ted account asking people to Pray for Boston makes me mad.

Motherfucking Adam for Channel 7 been working for like 30 hours straight, gawd damn.

Channel 5 and 7 and Fox I guess deserve reporting awards. CNN deserves to be shot into the sun.

What else do you expect him to do? if you're a leader of a country who puts personal freedoms and right to religion without persecution, you're not going to suggest anything else.

Could've not mentioned either. I'm not saying it's surprising or anything, just happy it was part of the speech.

I keep hearing this. Are we sure its related?

yes

In yet another twist in a fast-breaking story, New Bedford police said this evening that three people had been taken into custody in their city as part of the bombing investigation.

New Bedford Police Lieutenant Robert Richard said his department assisted federal investigators in executing a search warrant at a home on Carriage Drive in New Bedford, about 10 minutes from the campus of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, where Tsarnaev was a student.

Richard said the FBI took two men and a woman into custody. “They appeared to be either fellow college students or fellow residents,” he said. Richard said Tsarnaev may have been affiliated with the home on Carriage Drive in some way – possibly having lived or visited the house.

i think its pretty clear that his older brother was the mastermind and commited one. He had a bomb belt on, so he was prepared to die. I would assume a committed terrorist would go down in a blaze of bullets with suicide by explosion, taking whoever he could with him, or suicide by cop.

This doesn't clear him in any way... it just seems his brother was the main guy (which, according to russia, they knew)

A lot of peopl on the internet and news are talking about how these two guys must have been crazy. I imagine a lot of people who do these kinds of acts have a nihilistic view of the world. Killing random people doesn't sound so bad if you think we're all going to die anyways and our existence ultimately will amount to nothing. Once you go down that line of reasoning, it's easy to justify any action.

I keep hearing this. Are we sure its related?

Was stated on tv earlier they were from the Dorm where younger brother lived. Probably roommates or something. A fellow student said he was always very to himself and only really spoke with others from Russia etc so feds likely covering bases.

was pretty good until O'Reilly. Then it plummeted.

The Stream on their site had being nothing but excellent. Good facts, priority over the important things, no agenda just news.

Sad to know the Cable version isn't like that.

Also Obama looks exhausted, I can't even imagine how stressful must cause being the President in this crazy week.

This whole thing and the way people are reacting scare me so much. So much eye-for-an-eye mentality, bloodthirst, suspension of basic rights for everyone, mass hysteria by the American media, cheering for death, etc. It all seems very, very disturbing, as if some people go into this animalistic panic-mode.

I mean, everyday citizens are killed in gun-related violence, foreigners are detained for 11 years without trial, a country has been invaded resulting in the death of 4500 soldiers and hundreds of thousands Iraqis, Pakistanis are extrajudicially killed by unmanned American drones, etc.

I only wish American society would allocate as much attention and vigilance to these self-inflicted atrocities as much as they are doing with this tragedy.

This is not meant to be inflammatory, but act as a call for more humility, more consistency, more decency, and try not to be swept away by the alarmist messages that force people to give away their basic rights or forget the many deaths within and outside of the U.S. society.

How would you want everyone to react to this event?

Is he getting interviewed again?

Uncle Ruslan is the best. But as fun as it is to watch him be so kickass, he clearly wants this to be over with. Is it true he was going door to door apologizing to people?

From reading his stuff on Twitter, I hope there's still some sense left in the kid so that one day he can realize just how horrible of an act he committed. And when he does, that weight on his conscience will be far worse than torture.

Then again he could just be a sociopath, but I'd like to be surprised once in a while.

I think there's hope because how incredibly young he is, but more so because, if I'm not mistaken, he genuinely seemed like a good, typical kid. I do think his brother was a large, and solely central influence on him. But, who knows how much he's changed since those tweets. His friends seem to like him a lot

Two days after the bombing Dzhokar Tsarnaev hit the gym, went to a party, slept in his dorm.

Unreal

...nevermind then.

We don't know exactly how that played out. The surgeons at the hospital he was taken to never mentioned him being run over.

This is the first time in hearing the third victim's name (Ling Su Lu).

His body kinda looks like it was run over in an "alleged" photo I found. Not sure if the giant laceration on his rib cage is attributed to that or the IED vest. But yes you're right we don't anything for sure know yet.

I thought he ran over his brother more intentionally, not while the brother was already dead in a panic.
