What fandoms don't agree with each other/very divided?

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I was gonna post this is in Gaming but I thought it's also apt on non-video game related stuff.

You know what I mean - Pokemon for example is very, VERY divided. It's not just Generation Wars. It's also manga vs anime vs trading card vs video game. And then there's spin off wars too.

Then there's Zelda. I heard it's not as divided as before, but apparently the fans still bicker and take certain sides?

For non-video games, out of my head I pretty much agree on Transformers. We have GEEWUNNERS, the Beast Wars fans, the animeformers (or were they called Baybladeformers?), then there's Bayformers, and that shit where fans are against each other.

Are Doctor Who fans as... violent with each other?

comics. there has been great divides as long as the big two have existed.

DW fans are pretty friendly towards each other but you get the occasional hardcore fan who's (no pun intended) so narrow-minded they think not a single episode of the new episodes (2005 reboot) is good.

Sayre's Law:

"In any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issues at stake."

The Mega Man franchise is pretty heavily divided between Classic purists, X fans, people who though the Zero games were the best, and people who loved the Battle Network games. Even within those categories, there are pretty big arguments about whether Mega Man 2 or Mega Man 3 are better, implicit assumptions that Mega Man 5 and 6 suck followed by different fans pronouncing their love for those games, etc.

Really, every fanbase is pretty heavily divided. As long as fans try to claim one part of a series or franchise as "the best" or "it sucks", there will be internal bickering among fans.

L-Legend fans?

D:

All of them.

In general, once you're dealing with people who use the word 'fandom', instead of just being like "Oh yeah, Star Wars/Zelda/Whatever is great!" then you've already passed into a realm of crazy where no hope remains.

Two different groups.

I thought everyone agrees if the great leader of said religion says so.
Judaism, Christianity, Islam

Orthodox, non-Orthodox

Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Anglican, Mormon, etc etc plus endless subdivisions

Sunni, Shia, etc

And that's just from one starting religion.

You have the casual fans who don't give a shit and the hardcore fans who will not agree with anything some other fan dares to say.

Ahh true.

I wonder if Hinduism is similar.

Final Fantasy can be a war. There are people who love certain entries and loathe others.

Final Fantasy tends to always end up in a list war, but that is true for many other longstanding series like Zelda. However some series i just do not see that many "list wars", for example Mario, people usually have their favorites and there isent as much back and forth arguing. Oh you like SMB3 the most? Alright, World? Okay, Mario 64? Cool etc. There just isent the same furor compared to Zelda and Final Fantasy "rankings".

Chrono series, despite only being 2 loosely connected games i swear always ends up in Trigger vs. Cross, i do not think Ive ever seen a Chrono Cross thread on any forum that did not end up in comparisons to Trigger, i am sure it is impossible for a thread solely about Cross to even exist.

Resident Evil fans are split by RE4 and everything that came afterwords. However because the games are so different you actually sometimes get good discussion. Classic RE and RE4 ish are 2 very different games, so different that i think most people just accept these are 2 different experience in almost every way possible that doing a versus style comparison is pointless.

I think that's less now as the fans of the series seem to be directing their dislike at XIII and XIV, but before, there was a lot of divide on message boards it seemed like.

Then again, Final Fantasy games are usually really different from each other so it's easy to see why fans of X wouldn't be fans of XII and etc.

Picard is greatest captain there is!

Christians, Muslims and pretty much any other Religion have fanboy wars that go down harsher and quicker than GAFs servers on a day with two news stories

What do Zelda fans argue about now that the timeline is confirmed? Is it the 2D vs 3D thing? I think that's probably an issue with every long-running series. Even Ninja Gaiden fans probably have a dimension split.

Are Zelda fans still at it? I thought they've united or such.

Surely there's a franchise-based fandom out there that isn't... Star Trek? Oh wait... Hmm... Everyone seems to love DotA!

Have you not come across the "fuck russians" mentality yet?

Yeah. Comics can get bad. Especially because DC fanbabies catch feelings so quickly.

If you Marvel Zombies would just swear your fealty to our great lords Dan Didio and Bob Harris, we wouldn't have any fucking problems!

...

But seriously, it's not even just Marvel vs DC. You got indie vs big two, capes vs non capes, fan battles, this run vs that run. Your brother in arms in one is your worse enemy in another.

I got into this hobby for good times...I'm too young for war.
