Have a feeling Sony are going to drop bombs this E3

Perhaps they will even hold back Uncharted 4 and Ready at Dawn IP due to so much bombs being dropped at E3.
Nah,I think they'll want to drop as many bombs as possible on that occasion.

I'm just as excited for the Ready at Dawn project as the next Naughty Dog/SSM game. Did they ever hint at what kind of game they're making? Genre?

Their last game they did was a port of the PSP GoW games on PS3 near the end of 2011. It would be around 2 and a half years since that game. They are also a small team. I don't think they will be ready to show their game. I expect Santa Monica as the big new IP reveal this E3.

All hype I have for The Last Guardian and FFXV (which I assume is Versus) has been evaporated after years worth of nothing. I think everyone is expecting for them to show up though, they even said FF was going to be there. I wouldn't really consider them much of a bomb. Well. Maybe.

I don't have much faith in Sony that their E3 mentalities have changed so all I'm expecting is them to play it safe again and go through the motions so they'll have everything people expect for them to have when it comes to the PS4.

You say that, yet Final Fantasy always changes gameplay, world, characters, battle system, art style and even the type of fantasy it is with every main numbered title. It's basically a new IP with every mainline entry. So saying you want a new IP doesn't mean a whole lot. I think what you're saying is you want some innovation within a specific genre that new IP's usually bring.

Certain things change, but there's a few things that remain the same in every entry. Summons, certain creatures, spells, the continuing future fantasy aesthetic. There's enough in each mainline FF to make the experience feel like this is, in fact, another Final Fantasy game. They are not completely new experiences, and its not a new IP each time.

Sony said the PS4 is made with hardcore gamer in mind at their reveal, which makes me think that E3 will be about media and apps mostly to counter MS´s offering as a media machine. Of course there will be games, but media and apps will have significant presents at Sony´s E3 conference. I hope they make 2 conferences though, one for PS4 and another one for PS3 and Vita.

I expect bombs every E3 and normally get left dissapointed. This year does have potential though, my body is ready!

What will probably happen...

Microsoft will be disappointing and everyone will laugh, saying Sony's conference will destroy it

Sony's conference will be long and boring as well (just not as child focused in certain spots) and people will complain about how Sony dropped the ball.

Nintendo will exist in their own little world where their fans will salivate at every word they say, while others think Nintendo have lost their minds.

Rinse and repeat for every E3. (Hopefully I'm wrong this year)

I expect crazy announcements. I'm talking:

Final Fantasy XV PS4 exclusive

Return of Last Guardian in all its glory for PS4

New Santa Monica IP that will blow your mind and be a graphical showcase

LittleBigUniverse, full 3D game where you can make 3D platformers, racers and shooters using Move to create assets shows in the tech demo.

Perhaps they will even hold back Uncharted 4 and Ready at Dawn IP due to so much bombs being dropped at E3.
None of these excite me in any way because we already know that all of them are coming.
If they want to drop bombs they'll need to showcase a new PS4 exclusive IP from Epic for example. And I don't think that this is going to happen.

They'll rely on big names, even if they're far from a real release.

Gran Turismo, God of War, Uncharted, etc. etc. - They might just show a bunch of logos or early tech tests and fans will go bananas, thinking that these games are coming 'soon'.

Throw The Last Guardian in, too.

They didn't do that with PS3. They revealed Heavenly Sword, Lair, Uncharted, Folklore and the return of Warhawk.

I reckon on the Playstation Meeting they were holding back and saving their big bombs for E3.

I expect crazy announcements. I'm talking:

Final Fantasy XV PS4 exclusive
So as a result of this feeling you also have a feeling MS will have a bomb to drop at E3 2014?

So as a result of this feeling you also have a feeling MS will have a bomb to drop at E3 2014?

Yes for MS I expect:
PGR or Forza sequel
Alan Wake 2
Fable MMO (not full paid MMO more like Destiny)
Betrayalaton from a 3rd party
Then the rest to be Kinect and media features

I just hope they announce more than one Japanese exclusive (more than FFXVersus).

I don't give a fuck about any of the western 1st party Sony games. They completely lack appeal to me, as if it blends together in an average gray mash.
The only thing they really excel at are "cinematic experiences" and I particularly hate those.

PSN+ required to play online will be the biggest bomb.

I find very suspicious that no one at Sony clarified that online would be free on PS4, or I may have missed something.

MS will probably steal the spotlight if they announce durango.

They will announce Durango but it's going up against a Playstation 4 re-reveal with more information, they'll be on level playing field.

My gut instinct is telling my Sony has picked up Final Fantasy and Microsoft probably has something sorted out with Call of Duty - probably a continuation of exclusively timed downloaded content.

Both will have mega first party exclusives with Sony most likely having a slightly more diverse line up overall, I kind of expect a Ratchet teaser, Uncharted 4(This will star Sully), Last Guardian, Knack and probably at least one new IP from Media Molecule. Vita presence will be felt but be completely underwhelming, most likely a God of War, Gravity Rush 2 and a Type-0 port/translation. ( :( )

Microsoft probably brings a good couple 'AAA' games to the table, probably along the lines of a WRPG, a shooter and a big Kinect game. They are the hardest to predict because they are so silent at the moment.

Nintendo will bring Zelda Wii U, a Mario 64-related game and possibly even a teaser of a new Mother game. Also, the known quantities like Mario Kart. 3DS will dominate with all those ports coming from Japan, they don't even need to try with the 3DS - it's solid.

My off the wall shockers would be Call of Duty completely exclusive to 720 this year and Persona 5 or Demon's Soul 2 exclusive PS4.

Left-field prediction - Despite all the titles they could show, I reckon Until Dawn is still going to take up a slot during the conference :P

When was the last time Sony or Microsoft ever had an E3 that people cared about?

Why not include Nintendo in that list if you're going to make a blanket statement like that?

I would argue that last years E3 had a lot of people on the edge of their sets. Everyone in the audience loved Beyond, God of War and The Last of Us demos at last years E3.

FF exclusive isn't a bomb anymore.

I'm gonna give the IP one more chance. Wasn't a fan of XIII and didn't bother with its sequels. But I have enjoyed every other mainline FF games. So XIII being a turd in comparison to all the other good FF games makes it unfair to say the series is dead. If XV turns out to be a bombs then I can say the franchise is officially dead.

I know SE are already going to talk about FF for PS4 but if I hear anything about KH3 I will have a massive stroke from excitement.

Not a single one of those "bombs" in the OP would help them sell consoles.

If FFXV is a launch window game, or even a launch day title, it'll shift consoles.

If rumours of Sony engineers stepping in to get Versus ported over then it could make launch window. That depends if the game is content complete though. I'd sincerely hope so by now.

MS and Sony have their entire line-ups basically unannounced at this point. If they aren't dropping bombs then they're in big trouble.

This is the most important E3 for all 3 console makers since before this gen started.

I still really doubt The Last Guardian will be for PS4.

It's been in development on PS3 code for years. No way they will just ditch all that work.

Yes. I get that feeling.

Also shenanigans, like exclusive deals.

I agree.

Third party deals would obviously not go unnoticed by each of the console makers though in this case I'm talking about Sony and MS as they have new hardware coming. Nintendo will probably be retreating to their core I.P's.

The 'right' sort of game could be a megaton in itself. They've both had an extended amount of time to get stuff ready. I think this will be one of the better launch periods for consoles.

We'll have some solid games from the off and not a lot of portups.

That definitely sounds like every E3 I've ever watched.

Everyone will drop bombs (well, I hope for Nintendo it will be the case), it's the most important E3 in almost a decade.

Well, when you put it like that...

I still don't want to get too excited for Nintendo, though.

Besides Square Enix still being totally clueless business wise I don't see FF15 being exclusive to PS4. Why would SE do that when two consoles targetting the same demographic have never been so close hardware wise? That would be stupid and... Yes. That would be the Square Enix we know.
