Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Argh. I know this isn't Vita-related per se, but I'm totally annoyed that my Plus subscription was automatically renewed today. Especially since I'm trying to save money and I don't see myself playing any of my Plus games in a while, just the retail games that I'm looking forward to. What's worse is that it was the 3 month package, but I guess what's good about it is that it only cost me $18... still. What a waste.

Well, just bought my fourth memory card: a 32GB one at last!!!

I have a 4, 8, 16 and 32 right now.

And I bought two games on retail very cheap: Hot Shots Golf and Virtua Tennis 4.

I think I'll have my memory full today with all PS+ games available that I didn't download yet.

Thinking about buying Hot Shots Golf 2, seems like the type of game Id love to play on a handheld.
When will we be getting BlazBlue Vita for free?

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I got an e-mail saying that funds had been added to my wallet and panicked thinking maybe someone was using my account, but it was just PS+ auto-renewing (even though I thought I'd turned it off).

how do you turn it off?

PS Store, ..., services list. I had already turned automatic renewal off, and when I bought a year on sale they turned it back on again. Thought that was fairly underhanded.

Great thanks, turned it off. They wudve gotten me in november.

Everyone considering buying Hot Shots Golf should just plain out get it. We do matches here on GAF sometimes in the dedicated tread as well. It's actually one of the most awesome games this generation.

how do you turn it off?

Playstation Network > Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List > Playstation Plus

Then click subscription, then click cancel automatic renewal.

Very sneaky that they turn it back on when you re-subcribe though. If Plus wasn't such a great deal I'd be really pissed off about it.

Can't stop playing Farming Simulator. :(

It's a good podcast game in that you can just barely pay attention for long periods of time and still no screw up.

Haha, i told you! I TOLD YOU YOU'D BE ADDICTED. It's like a curse ;_;

I usually just stick Music Unlimited on in the background. I just hit 10 hours. WOOOO. Close to affording another new field. Then i REALLY need a new Combine Harvester. It's such a fucking pain to drive long distances from one field to another - SO GODDAM SLOWWWW.

Y'all, I have a problem. My Vita has no games...

...because I can't decide what to buy first! Funds are a bit tight, but I don't want the console to sit on standby or be completely relegated to PSP/PS1 duty until Dragon's Crown. So which one of the following do you think should I pick up?

Muramasa Rebirth: Definitely the one I want most, but it isn't out until the end of June ugh.

Persona 4 Golden: I know it'd be worth my while, but I'm not sure I'm up for such a long game right now. I've got a lot on my plate on other systems.

Gravity Rush: Hesitating since I wasn't immediately engaged by the demo unit at GS. (But I wasn't into the Vita hardware itself based on the same criteria—experiencing it on my own terms and in a color I like definitely changed my opinion...) It's $30 at Best Buy until Sunday, but it's also been cheaper in the past...

Shahid likes to play with people it seems....him and Antonya Clark make seem like there could some big news coming and they make it seem Vita related.

Lol not sure if I should get excited or not, but I love the indie push so wether its Indie related or not if its good ill be excited..not till they spill the beans though.

Don't bother. I bought it when it was on sale, compared to the vita version it's not very good. There is nothing particular wrong with it but it's kinda dated. I would spend a little more and get invitational

Why not get PSN+ for $49, then you get Gravity Rush, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048 for free and can even buy PSASBR for $17 and Sly Cooper for $12. if PSN+ isnt your thing Id suggest Persona 4 Golden. Yep its a long game but one of the best jrpgs Ive ever played.

Sony's been announcing a lot of the leaked (via ratings boards) Vita games recently. We've had Jacob, Jak, and Men's Room Mayhem. I wonder if the Sly Collection will be this week?

Oh I meant Hot Shots Gols Vita haha sorry with so many Hot Shots I got confused. Bummer its still $35 on PSN though... but I think Ill just buy it.

Playing through Gravity Rush right now thanks to PS plus.

Game is breathtaking.... combat kinda sucks though.
I like this guy.

Shame on you. WE were off to such a good start too. Grab 3 months of PlayStation Plus and....actually, are you a PlayStation Plus sub?

Well, as far as I understood it -
they're artificial intelligences who have become self aware. Thomas discovers that there's a whole Internet outside their little local network, and starts leading them to "freedom", while the humans controlling the network tries to make programs to slow them down or delete them.
Well, that makes sense thanks. I'm terrible at following the story in games when it's ambiguous... I actually played through the game a second time to see if it would make any more sense and still came up blank.

Unless I missed some announcement there is far more DLC coming out without trophies than with every week. At least the Thomas Was Alone DLC was pretty fun.
Hmm, I thought it was required but I guess I don't delve into DLC all that often.

...I had a feeling a lot of people would recommend PS+. Thing is, I own too many games to start paying for a rental service and I resell stuff that I don't intend to keep forever.

Also of the games mentioned this month, I'm only interested in GR :/

Seems a little contradictory, but I'd still argue that 60$ a year for a couple dozen rentals and discounts on digital-only titles is worth looking in to. Especially since you were even remotely considering a single game at half that price.

I only subbed recently, but I think it's already paid for itself. I played through Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ and enjoyed it (never would've tried the series otherwise).

Hot shots is totally worth it.. Putting is so challenging yet rewarding.. Hitting a ridiculous 30 ft putt uphill and across slopes feels gud man

I would recommend PS+ too. It may be a rent service, but a damn good one. You will surely get your moneys worth in rentals, even if you normally buy and resell.
If you really don't want to get PS+ my vote goes for Persona 4: Golden. I love Gravity Rush, but P4: G has a much longer playtime and is just great.
Can't really comment on Muramasa though.

I'm not discounting PS+ completely. If I had no other games/systems to focus on I would have joined on May 1st when the Vita came in the mail, haha. But in order to feel like I was getting my money's worth, I'd have to concentrate on whatever I get from PS+ every month over the other games in my backlog and whatever games come out for the other systems I own. I'm not prepared to do that just yet, so for now it's gonna be one at a time. (Also, I have to admit that I like owning tangible stuff. Call me a luddite if you want!)

Maybe later on, I'll have wrangled my library into a small enough shape that PS+ will be worth it for me.

Anyway, looks like P4G is winning out. Thanks for all the advice VitaGAF!

If Vita finds a large enough audience for itself in Japan I imagine it'll get a Harvest Moon eventually.

I would finally import a Vita game if this happened, unless they actually localized it. I just REALLY want that type of experience, only in a new game, on Vita.

Gravity Rush had quite entertaining combat, but I think where it suffered (as well as the game in general), was the real lack of diversity in it's mission design. You were essentially repeating the same few tasks, albeit with a slight caveat every now and again.

It speaks volume to the level of production, because I was compelled to complete the game. A sequel has the potential to be outstanding, if it addresses those key-issues

I absolutely love the game, but I have to agree here, it did feel a bit samey when it came to missions. A more fleshed out open world with more variety in a sequel would be AMAZING!

Can't stop playing Farming Simulator. :(

Damnit you guys really make me wish it came to the US PSN :( Is there ANY word of it coming here? Ever? Or is it another one of those regional issue/licensing red tape thing?

I was in the same boat as you more or less only wanting tangible games etc... It really is worth getting ps+. Regardless of the free rental games, the amount you get and save in discounts pays it off. If anything maybe someone here will five tou a 30 day trial,

hmm... but I guess you can start the service and just add all the games to your Download List...

so that you at least have them.. even if your Plus expires.. those games can be played when you reactivate plus.. so at least you get the option to should your opinion about those games change

Farming Simulator is only on EU store? I can't find it on US one...

There was the ps3 version too. But it was region 2 [cross buy won't work] and double the price hence I passed it.

So I bought this little fella! How is the game GAF? I could had bought it digital this week but I could not resist picking the physical copy. I rarely get new vita games in the deserted town that I live.
