EDIT: And why even bother anyhow? Unless they assume Sony might have something to announce for E3 that'll deflate some of their hype and thus are trying to get ahead of them, even if it's just by three weeks. A delay is one thing, but this makes them out to be the gang that couldn't shoot straight.

To have a stage all to themselves and then double back and share the E3 hype also? Seems like a good way to go in with momentum. I mean, I guess it could be spun to be a bad thing but it would make one awful dizzy.

So wrong

I was wondering how a Deadliest Warrior between MS and Sony would have panned out LOL

What do you mean "insiders". They have all proven to be real insiders by mods and reliable too.

And? yes, they are "reliable" but it not mean that what they said will be the same at the end.

Unless their sources are the root source (mattrick? Phil Harrison? xD), any information could end being wrong or different at the end, or mean anything.

People are overestimating most rumors, and a lot of them could be end different.

Pretty much.

If there ever was a marketing/PR dream team, they were it. Microsoft was just so intelligent last generation with how they marketed the 360 towards a more general, younger generation of people. Sony always tried to make their products for a 20 year old, because everyone wants to be 20, but Microsoft nailed it with all their branding, advertising and material.

I mean just look at this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyaywUpGC1s

Cool music, smartly-cut footage, and just an awesome 3 and a half minutes.

But then I look at the Surface marketing campaign...and it's not good.

Let's see which MS shows up

So do we know whether this is going to be broadcasted to the UK (or any other domain outside North America and Canada) yet? For Sony's conference I tuned into GameTrailers with half a bottle of Vodka and copious amounts of Diet Coke and had a blast watching all of the pre-show coverage, the show itself and then the aftermath. I kind of want to do the exact same thing again. Will GameTrailers be covering this? Or more importantly will it be possible to watch this live from the UK? Anyone?

Should be worldwide via the 360 streaming app, Xbox.com and possibly youtube.

Not sure about Pro, but the RT had a lot of interesting branding and advertising going on. The problem is that the product isn't there yet.
I actually like the pro alot but the price is just too high. Tablets won't be a viable way to replace laptops for a year or two.

I wonder if there will be a baseball game on the Durango. 2K doesn't seem interested in the license anymore since it was a big money sink, so the idea of them investing in a next-gen engine doesn't sound right. Hmmm.

I proposed this idea before, but for some reason a few people thought it was unlikely. Not sure why, as Sony seems to be doing well with the Show. Likely making a healthy profit.

You mean Microsoft making their own baseball game? Could be, though I'd imagine they'd rather fund 2K to do it.

NA is pretty much MS's battleground, and to go into baseball season with the idea that the PS4 is the only place to get next-gen baseball seems crazy.

I really hope not. 2K makes dogshit baseball games. I'm not just saying that because I've played the Show either; I haven't enjoyed a baseball game on a Microsoft console since MVP Baseball 2005.

I think it would be fun if Microsoft somehow used the loophole in the licensing contract to get EA to make a new MVP game exclusive to the Nextbox. There can be 1st/2nd party licensed MLB games, but just not 3rd party licensed MLB games. That way, everyone wins and EA could be ready and waiting to make a baseball game for both the Nextbox and PS4 when the license ends.

That would be good, but there's always the small chance it could turn out like another EA Live situation. :p Plus EA seems to be scaling back a bit from making new IPs and such.

But I do think MS is gonna do something. I have no idea what, hah.

Wouldn't it be funny to see 343 and Bungie there? I feel like it would be the largest elephant in the room
EDIT: Ewww double post is nasty

I'd rather not see 343 there, they need to take their time with their next project. I would like to see an in game demo for Destiny on the next xbox.

Please no CG trailers for this event, give me demos or at least in engine stuff.

This seems more plausible than the other ones

We've just finished our Kinect enabled application and its currently in review with Microsoft. It's gone through 3 reviews and the last review the MS developers failed us for 2 specific issues

1. our application on the latest beta SDK was exceeding 130MB continuously even when pushed to the background, apparently api's have changed in how applications are pushed to the background and certain events we were wiring up to no longer ran in a particular order. We needed to rework quite a lot of code to remedy this.

2. we made use of new DirectX 11.5 api's around prt's and we were not correctly clearing out the memory, even thou it is now unified we still need to ensure that memory is cleared out correctly. We missed this because of how the render planes work, they changed in the last update and these planes are now nicely virtualized B
UT before a plane is pushed to the background and before its virtualized we need to wire up an event to close connections and clear/dispose objects.

It's taken us 4 days to make these changes and as of this morning we've submitted what we hope is our last package to!

We already have 2 apps , this is our third and we hope we can make the cut for launch.

My fellow developers in the AAA Game studio, myself am in the APP studio, are in the last sprint before submission for review. They needed to rework the engine from ground up to take advantage of PRT's .. PRT's are a serious game changer, I have seen the textures they designers are coming up with , massively massive textures that span huge surface areas of a world all within a single texture. It's amazing what I've seen coming out from my fellow game developers/designers. And the real-time ray tracing (path) is a sight to behold, the global illumination and particle systems in our new engine is something I would not have thought possible for many years. You will be blown away when you see this hopefully on launch date..

Microsoft are clearly being very cautious on it's dev boxes/servers and its sdk's, there are daily check ups from the MS guys ensuring the boxes are not tampered with. Also the lockdown of our development offices is insane, its like those Intel adverts where the scientist is wearing a blue overall suite and they go into a sealed room with only what there wearing. It's the same for us, our development offices are closed off and in the last 3 months the number of security cards have pretty much tripled. Lots of security for us coders, but its also very exciting.

It's clear from my use of the sdk and the development environment that MS are definitely on track, they have a brilliant developer story that I know other developers will fall in love with once its public.

One last thing, my fellow game developer colleagues have pretty much said that they believe the Xbox is severely more powerful than the PS4, they were very surprised with just how much.. They've spent a great deal of effort reducing certain game textures/animations and the engine in general just to get a decent 60fps on the PS4. Clearly in their eyes the Xbox is leaps and bounds ahead of the PS4.

Can't wait for you all to see our game and apps hopefully on reveal day, but definetely at launch!

I don't know the relevance of this, but sure nothing wrong with preference. The things I was trying to figure out, is why believing an internal delay of a conference is possible, and taking stock in what Paul Thurott and Pachter said about a delay, is delusional or a sonygaf fantasy.

I never said there was an internal delay. Actual evidence and past history suggests - if anything, the opposite.

I also never mentioned delusion. The rest? Well yeah, most negative rumours that leak are basically accepted as fact by all the same posters who like to cone and shit up every Durango thread.

Its also those same posters who then laugh off any positive runour that could in some way *gasp*, give the Xbox an advantage over the PS4. Be it specs or otherwise. Its beyond draining. I'm amazed they have such a level of commitment.

edit: which gaffer wrote that pastebin. Fess up

I'm not aware of actual evidence to suggest an internal delay never happened, but there are people in the industry who did say a delay happened.

If true this won't go over well.

Actually the goalposts would simply move.

--------------------

Direct X 11.5? Yeah... Sure.

Well direct x 11.5 could be plausible, I mean look at the 360, it had directx 10 features and beyond at the time as well from what I heard.

Being the most plausible pastebin is nothing to be proud of.

Why would they be finalizing their apps now, 6 months before launch?

This post gives more than enough information for Microsoft to know exactly what studio this came from.
Yeah you would think Microsoft could pin point this dev team with just this info.

Are you sure MS is 6 months from launch is that confirmed?

I go off what we KNOW.

Major Nelson had a countdown. It was to E3.

Post Sony reveal, they now have their own reveal for pre-E3.

The Xbox 360 reveal was at the same time. Just before E3. To me, this means one of two things.

This was the plan all along, or, they've created this small preview as an answer to Sony's reveal.

Anything else is a rumour based on a rumour based on a rumour.

The 360 was shown 2 or 3 days before e3 wasnt it?

I find it odd that Sony would announce so early. Maybe they needed the hype train chugging along because ms has some serious hardware like old rumors would indicate. Just a thought. If ms was going to go out and announce a weak kinect box wouldn't have been best that Sony wait to announce.

You think they are pulling a Saturn and launching at E3? They are going to have to start manufacture months before they launch and large scale manufacture has a way of leaking these days.

I think it is highly unlikely that they launch before September.
