I wasn't really paying attention, and I've now changed the channel so I can't rewind my DVR.

But earlier on the news with Diane Sawyer, did they say that Ariel Castro had another daughter(not the one currently in prison) that was friends with Gina DeJesus
? She went on America's Most Wanted and claimed to be the last person Gina spoke to.

Yeah I saw that.

Pretty sure even the initial kidnapping report for Amanda mentioned her being grabbed by three guys. Safe to say they were far past just knowing.

When I heard there were three brothers involved, and three girls held for that long, my thought was, they kidnapped one for each of them.

I feel ill just typing that sentence. :(

Israel Lugo said he, his family and neighbors called police three times between 2011 and 2012 after seeing disturbing things at the home of Ariel Castro. Lugo lives two houses down from Castro and grew suspicious after neighbors reported seeing naked women on leashes crawling on all fours behind Castro's house.

Lugo said about two years ago his sister told him she heard a woman pounding on a window at Castro's home as if she needed help. When his sister looked up, she saw a woman and a baby standing in a window half covered with a wooden plank. His sister told him and Lugo called the police.

Later, Lugo's mother called the police because Ariel Castro would park his school bus in front of their home and bring bags full of McDonald's and drinks into his home. They wondered why he needed so much food. Police again responded but didn't enter the home.

A third call came from neighborhood women who lived in an apartment building. Those women told Lugo they called police because they saw three young girls crawling on all fours naked with dog leashes around their necks. Three men were controlling them in the backyard. The women told Lugo they waited two hours but police never responded to the calls.
I don't even know how to react to this.

Well, this is starting to answer the question of how they managed to get away with hiding the girls for so long. That's just unbelievable if these reports are correct; total failure on the part of the police to follow through.

Dude I thought the same. Just chiming in to say don't feel bad.

Thanks, though what I meant was the ill feelings were coming from the implications. Reading the above story about the leashes makes me think they did kidnap one for each of them to control.

Holy fucking shit. How is this possible?

Community provided the necessary insight and vigilance, all police had to do was put the pieces together.

It won't really happen but after this case police departments need to take a long hard fucking look at how they deal with people trying to tell them "hey there's something wrong with this guy or at this house." Similar shit happened in the Jaycee case.

I don't even know what goes through some police officer's heads sometimes. They can have someone in crisis letting them know they need to gtfo now and there are some cops that still won't do anything.

The case i had mentioned earlier, the victim who had escaped almost went back to her perp because the cop had just assumed she was a "crazy naked lady" who ran away from home. Had the agency i work with not stress to the cop that she is a victim trying to escape, that fucker would have let her go back to her captivity.

Seriously. There are some cops that really, really fail at that serve and protect. It's fucking disgusting.

That's really disturbing.

In their defense, the police probably do have more contact with crazy naked ladies than they do with kidnapping and torture victims.

But even so...

I wonder if they had buddies in the local police force.

Earlier in the day, on the Cleveland local news, sometime in the early afternoon, they said the Castro family was somewhat known and well respected in Cleveland, and the sister(maybe it was a cousin?) of the suspect worked in politics. Can't remember what her name was though.

I mean, getting a warrant on these "suspicions" would be hard. But they would probably have been able to convince a judge once the third incident was reported, on strength of evidence.

Alot of my cop friends would have gone the extra mile maybe on the second report, but its cleveland and the neighborhood seems kind of shitty, so I assume the cops didn't want to poke a potential hornets nest. Fucked up, but thats how it goes in the crappy neighborhoods.

True but a lady in crisis, trying to escape, with an agency trying to explain to the cop the situation, and the cop still reluctant to at least let the lady go to safe place where she can make a proper police report, i don't think there's much of a defense for that cop or any cop.

People should take all things seriously just in case it happens to be that one case where there's more going on. Especially cops who are suppose to be there to serve and protect.

Christ, the more information comes out this, the sicker I get. And I am likely going back to hating on the dispatcher who handled Amanda's call cause fuck...the fact that people called numerous times and sometimes no one even came? They need a serious overhaul.

Saw the interview of the young woman. Said she and a friend saw a naked woman in the backyard and Ariel. When they were spotted looking on they ducked back inside the house. Then tarps and stuff started getting used in the backyard. Called the cops but they thought they were joking. =/.

Still how can you as a neighbour just settle with no response from the police, I mean they were treating them like dogs ffs and in one instance they saw a woman acting like she was crying for help, even if the cops ignored your calls, I know I would be 24/7 on that shit untill they finally answered with actions, embarrasing on all accounts really, disgusting.

You can get in trouble for "false reports." Which some of them may have been warned about if it was assumed they were joking.

And those crazy naked ladies should at the very least be sent to the hospital for eval, so those cops have no defense at all.

Ariel Castro bought the four-bedroom, one-bath Seymour Street house for $12,000 on April 29, 1992 from Edwin and Antonia Castro, Cuyahoga County Auditor's records show. The two-story house with a basement is valued at $36,100, tax records show.
Sounds like Detroit. (Almost.)

Yeah but you were not false reporting, honestly I couldnt live with myself if I witnessed something like this and did little to nothing to help. That "you can get in trouble" doesnt fly with me, arrest me if you want, thats nothing compared to what those girls went thru. God just thinking about this make me want to punch those damn dumb Neighbours.

:/

The more that I think about it the more I think the entire family, son and daughter, of Ariel Castro were in on this. There's just too many coincidences.

Maybe the daughter, but the son seems geniunely disturbed by the whole thing. Then again, you can see Ariel Castro commenting on his son's FB page about normal stuff. i don't know. Hopefully the investigators can figure this shit out.

That latest stuff about the girls on leashes in the backyard and the police not checking up on the tip is fucking awful. I also read something last night about how they found chains hanging from the ceiling inside the house. It also appears that this may have not been Ariel Castro's actual place of residence. That is even worse that he and presumbly he and his brothers just had this fucking prison house and nobody knew about it.

And when they gathered for a candlelight vigil to remember two girls who vanished years ago, Castro was there too, comforting the mother of one of the missing, a neighbour said.

Ariel Castro was friends with the father of Gina DeJesus, one of the missing women, and helped search for her after she disappeared, said Khalid Samad, a friend of the family. He also performed music at a fundraiser held in her honour, Samad said.

"When we went out to look for Gina, he helped pass out fliers," said Samad, a community activist who was at the hospital with DeJesus and her family on Monday night. "You know, he was friends with the family."

Tito DeJesus, one of Gina's uncles, said he played in a few bands with Castro over the last 20 years. He remembered visiting Castro's house after his niece disappeared, but he never noticed anything out of ordinary, saying it was very sparse in furniture and filled with musical instruments.

Several residents said they saw Ariel Castro at a candlelight vigil for the missing girls.

Antony Quiros said he was at the vigil about a year ago and saw Castro comforting Gina DeJesus' mother.

One neighbour, Francisco Cruz, said he was with Castro the day investigators dug up a yard looking for the girls.

Castro told Cruz, "They're not going to find anyone there," Cruz recalled.

I saw Tito DeJesus on the news earlier today, he said he wasn't related to Gina DeJesus, or if he was he never knew about it and would've only been distantly related to her. As far as he knew they only shared the same last name. He said one time Ariel asked him about the Gina case, and if she was ever found, but that didn't seem odd to him because lot's of people assumed he was related to Gina.

But yeah, if Ariel Castro's daughter knew and was friends with Gina, I'm not surprised Ariel was friends with the DeJesus family.

This is the worst kind of nightmare. 10 years locked up in some sick fucks house while he is interacting with the community as if nothing is up. That this happened to three people makes the whole thing even more abhorrent. THEN when the police are notified multiple times about clearly messed up incidents and nothing happens I just can't smh enough.

I realise this doesn't add anything to the conversation I just needed to vent.

The cities negligence in handling those police calls is fucking disgusting. Heads need to roll behind that shit. This story is fucking nightmare fuel, my god.
