ugh, these gifs are horrendous (technical wise) I hope not to see any more gifs that make my computer look like it's dying.

I think I'm going to need to upgrade the ram in my laptop for this thread. And it'll be worth it.

Could someone help me with this...every video I try to gif ends up being way too large a file in normal frame rate (>3mb) and when I remove half the frames it just looks awful even with a set delay. I make the window small as possible too and use the lofi colors, what am I missing?

Edit:wait, is 3mb+ actually accepted gif size? No wonder my browser goes haywire.

It really depends what are you gifing and for how long ...

This programs works best when it has no changes in backgrounds .. wich is why Iam starting to even want to go back to that "I will draw something for you" thread xD

Photoshop 700 $
Gifcam 0$

You can get the same results as Photoshop with avidemux + Jasc Animation Shop, both $0. And I'm sure there are plenty of other options.

A lot of these GifCam gifs have awful timing and compression and end up looking worse than Tumblr gifs which have a 1mb size limit. The fact that they're so easy to make means they're going to be everywhere. E3 is going to be painful with everyone trying to be the first to gif the same crap over and over.

Uh, the entire point of GifCam is ease of use. Of course you can get better gifs if you go through the effort of multiple video/image editing programs. Duh.

The thread title says "making Gifs just got super easy", not "making Gifs just got super high quality and filesize-efficient."

Except that the avidemux/jasc method is super easy. Takes me about a minute tops to make a gif that looks far better then what gif cam currently produces.

you have to install four programs and then download videos and after that there is a whole lot of steps to do in "about a minute"

Yeah there's no way.

Editing the gif may take you a minute but doing the whole process in that time? Nope.

You install the programs once. The process itself can take very little time.

He wasn't necessarily lying. And the outcome is much better too.

If you carry out that "large number of steps" more than once you'll find it doesn't take long at all.

Of course it you only install it once but he does not take one minute from start to finish to make a gif with those 2 programs.

Either capturing the video, or downloading the video, open this, open that, import, edit frames and so on.

This obviously doesn't have the same quality but it's much faster.

Does it take longer than clicking record, then stop, then save?

Then what are you talking about?

Oh no, tools in the hands of the plebs! Can't allow that to stand.

"download video" step alone is longer than going to gifcam's site, downloading zip, open program, play what you want to gif, record, stop, save, upload.

Lol, are you really trying to twist this into some elitist crap?

The ease of use of the program is not my main problem, it's the shitty results. I was excited to use GifCam until I saw the quality of the gifs. My only actual issue with GifCam's simplicity is that more people will be rushing to make gifs during large events which will make browsing gaf more miserable than usual at these times, and that would be an issue regardless of the gif quality.

The results are pretty shit compared to an actual gif, I've found. Hopefully the dev can improve the fidelity a tad.

Not bad if you're in a hurry or lazy.

Although the quality of this gif I made is awful. Half of it is the source, bluray wouldn't play in my pc.

Anyone know that old movie where Bruce Lee comes into a private eye's office and smashes everything with crazy kicks and what not? I think it has E3 gif potential, but I'm having a hard time, even starting out on IMDB.
